Join our retail team as an Assistant Shop Manager at our Dorking shop and support the Shop Manager to maximise shop profit by achieving budgeted income, controlling shop expenditure in line with the shop's budget, and by recruiting and retaining a motivated team of volunteers. You will support the promotion of sustainable shopping and the shop’s social media to increase audience reach, attract customers, donors and volunteer supporters to deliver the Retail Strategy.

Income generation

• To support the Shop Manager to manage the Retail budget to achieve agreed targets:
• Help maximise shop sales by achieving agreed targets both through donated stock and bought in/new goods. This involves proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed amounts and stock planning.
• Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
• Achieve the shops additional fundraising activities i.e., Christmas appeal sales targets through involving the shops team.
• Maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.

Administration and compliance

• To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Lottery and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• Assist in controlling shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• Ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• Adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Lottery.
• Complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embrace the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.

Personnel and Training

• To support the Shop Manager to ensure the Shop’s team are recruited, retained and developed:
• Led by the Shop Manager - provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Shops team.
• Assist in managing all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• Deputise and be accountable for all Shop Manager duties as and when necessary, in their absence due to sickness, holiday or recruitment.
• Assist the Shop Manager to recruit, induct, support, train and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role and Retail Sales meetings if required and cascade information to team as appropriate.

Customer Service

• To ensure customer care and quality of service.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate & Business Services, The Finance Business Partner (FBP) will conduct a key role in bridging the gap between finance and the broader business. The individual will work closely with staff and other key stakeholders to provide financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and ensure financial targets are met.

The Finance and Operations Officer will provide general support to the Head of Finance and Operations across the following areas: 

Office Management

• Managing day-to-day relationship with landlord

• Ensuring office meets all health & safety requirements

• Supporting with new office search and move to new premises

Human Resources

Operations

• Assisting the CEO and the wider team with administrative tasks

• Liaising with our external IT providers to ensuring all IT equipment is functioning and replaced when required

• Organising away days and other large meetings 

• Reviewing/renewing supplier contracts annually (including insurance provider)

Governance

• Organising Trustee meetings 

• Attending and taking notes at specific meetings (e.g. Trustee, Advisory Board, team away days)

• Updating the Charity Commission for changes in Trustees and submission of annual returns 

• Ensuring all policy documents are up to date and reviewed within the correct time frame 

Finance

• Processing invoices and expenses and coordinating twice monthly payment runs

• Reconciliation of the monthly corporate card bills

• Keeping the fixed asset register up-to-date

• Bank account administration 

• Collation of information for the auditors

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following skills and experiences: 

Essential

Terms and Conditions

• Location: Money and Mental Health’s central London office for at least 2 days per week with option for home working the rest of the time. The office is wheelchair accessible.

• Hours: 3 to 4 days (22.5 to 30 hours) a week. The charity has a flexible working policy with core hours of 10am - 3pm and remaining contracted hours distributed throughout the week flexibly. We are open to discussing other flexible arrangements, such as accommodating school runs.

Benefits

• Holidays: 28 days p.a. (including 3 days of annual leave between Christmas and New Year when the office is closed) plus bank holidays, adjusted for the part-time nature of this post and therefore calculated on a pro rata basis.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Title: Crisis at Christmas Locum Move on Support Workers (Hotels)

Contract: Casual worker from mid- December 2024 to mid- January 2025 – a minimum of three shifts between Monday 23 Dec 2024 and Monday 6 January 2025

A fantastic locum opportunity for support workers who have front line experience supporting rough sleepers. You will be working with guests in Crisis at Christmas hotel accommodation to establish move-ons and next steps after the project closes.

Whilst it is not possible to find an immediate housing solution for everyone in the hotels, we aim to give advice and next steps to every guest who stays with us. The Crisis at Christmas project benefits from huge support from the GLA and local authorities, drug & alcohol services and SIAS immigration lawyers from each of the 5 subregions. There is a huge opportunity at Christmas to engage clients who do not usually connect with services, and this is reflected in the offers of support they receive. 

You will be employed  directly by Crisis during this period, for this reason any applications must be with permission from your current employer which must be sought and cannot be assumed.

Experience required

· Demonstrable experience of working directly with rough sleepers (e.g., in outreach, day centres, turnaround hubs or similar services)

· Good knowledge of voluntary sector services and statutory rights of homeless people

Shifts

Shifts will be 10am – 6pm and Move On support Locum workers must commit to a minimum of 4 shifts to be accepted into the role.

You will also accrue annual leave during this work, which will be calculated according to statutory guidelines and will be paid in your final payslip. Holiday entitlement will be calculated as 12.07% of actual hours worked and equates to approximately £3.80 per hour for bank holidays worked and £2.40 per hour for non-bank holiday work.

About the role

The Student Voice Facilitator will work within the Student Voice team to develop and deliver innovative representation practices, ensuring our members can exercise their student voice and influence university decision-making. This will be focused on Student Futures, a large-scale transformation portfolio King’s College London is undertaking. Student Futures aims to improve student experiences in key areas across the next three years. Key Responsibilities of the role include:

· Working in conjunction with our partner IT Support Multi Services Provider (MSP) you will assist in ensuring the IT infrastructure is maintained and help with service issues resolution in a timely manner.

· Escalate problem tickets and service needs in a timely manner, coordinating resolution as may be needed with the IT MSP, business application vendors and other third-party service providers.

· Maintain and oversee the build and management life cycle of Desktop, Laptop, and mobile devices, ensuring accurate inventory is maintained and stock is available to meet demands.

· Manage the timely onboarding and offboarding of staff, including working with some 3rd party systems and services such as NHS email.

· Support user account administration for restricted and closed internal systems.

· Assist with Subject Access Request fulfilment, incident investigation, resolution and preventative recommendation tasks.

· Assist with the installation, maintenance, and updating of structured cabling and associated patching.

Essential requirements of the role include:

· A Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle

The role will receive on the job training for key marketing skills like writing creative briefs and running paid social campaigns.

In Memory Fundraising Manager

We’re looking for a creative and dynamic in memory champion to join our fundraising team at St Christopher’s Hospice. In this pivotal role, you will be able to take your knowledge of in memory fundraising to the next level – developing new and existing in memory fundraising products and inspiring support at all levels of the organisation.

You will be:

• empathetic, able to connect with supporters often at a time when they are most vulnerable
• innovative, striving to find new ways to enable supporters to give in memory
• motivated to achieve results and a self-starter that takes pride in their work
• a team worker, able to forge strong relationships with people at all levels of the organisation

You will have:

As part of our vision to expand and grow our impact, we are seeking highly skilled and experienced bid writers, either individuals or agencies, to help us secure funding from a diverse portfolio of donors. This will be crucial in supporting the expansion of our programs, increasing our capacity to deliver sight-saving treatments, and advancing our mission of sight loss prevention.

Objectives of the Assignment

The primary objective of this assignment is to engage bid writers who will:

• Identify funding opportunities from diverse sources, including istitutional donors, foundations, trusts, government programs, and international agencies.
• Develop and write high-quality, persuasive funding proposals that align with BIF’s mission and strategic objectives.
• Support the submission of competitive bids in a timely and organised manner.
• Assist in expanding our network of funders and establishing relationships with new donors.

Scope of Work

The bid writers will be responsible for:

• Conducting research to identify relevant funding opportunities aligned BIF’s strategic goals and programs.
• Writing compelling and comprehensive grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the funder's requirements and expectations.
• Collaborating with internal teams to gather all necessary information for each proposal, including program details, budgets, and impact metrics.
• Assisting in the development of proposal budgets in accordance with donor requirements and BIF’s financial guidelines.
• Coordinating and managing the submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Providing follow-up communications with donors as needed to clarify details or provide additional information.

Deliverables

• List of relevant funding opportunities and donors.
• Completed grant applications and proposals, submitted on time.
• Documentation of follow-up actions, communications with donors, and outcomes of bid submissions.
• Develop standalone, reusable proposal that can be adapted for different funding opportunities, ensuring efficiency in future applications.

Requirements

The ideal candidate (individual or agency) should possess:

• Proven experience in writing successful grant applications and funding proposals for not-for-profits.
• Strong research skills, with the ability to identify suitable funding opportunities across different sectors.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a track record of creating compelling narratives tailored to funders' requirements.
• Knowledge of the healthcare, blindness prevention, or international development sectors is highly desirable.

Duration of the Assignment

This will be an ongoing consultancy contract, subject to periodic performance reviews. The duration will initially be six (6) months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding outcomes.

Fee Structure

The daily rate is negotiable, based on the experience and qualifications of the bid writer. Additionally, there is the possibility of a commission or performance-based incentive for successfully securing large grants. This will be agreed upon in the contract negotiations.
