Youth Worker

We are looking for two Youth Workers to build trusting and collaborative relationships with vulnerable service users aged 10-12 years transitioning from years 5 and 6 into secondary school to identify and address any potential risk factors that may impact on a young person’s transition.
You will provide support to build the young person’s skills, confidence and resilience during this critical period to engage positively at their new secondary school. This will include the delivery of targeted programmes, activities and 1:1 interventions that address the specific challenges faced by young people including bullying, social isolation, special needs, academic pressures or mental health issues. The support will be delivered in person within a variety of settings including faith based groups, schools and youth centres. This post will also work closely with the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) Peer Champion project.
We are hoping to offer a maximum of 10 hours per week for each Youth Worker to support current activities and where needed to set up new activities. You will have the ability to build rapport with young people and engage them in activities leading to empowerment and raising aspirations.
The salary for 10 hours per week is £7,310.53 per annum.
