Job description

We are looking for a proactive, experienced fundraiser to lead on our low and mid-level fundraising initiatives for the capital build, grow our donor base and ensure the smooth running of the donor journey.

About the role

Emanuel School is conducting a capital campaign to support the implementation of our critical build plan, that will guide the school's development and help us to address space challenges. This will involve expanding, developing and constructing new buildings and spaces that will enhance teaching and learning at the school for years to come.

As a Fundraising Officer, you will ensure the successful completion of the donor campaign for this project, whilst helping to grow our donor base and overseeing a smooth donor journey. In this role, you will undertake a range of tasks to ensure you meet agreed fundraising targets. This will include:

  • Conducting telephone and face-to-face meetings with donors and prospects.
  • Processing hexagon and brick donations.
  • Researching funding opportunities and planning fundraising activities and events.
  • Maintaining and updating our Raiser’s Edge database.
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection and relevant government legislation

This is a part time, fixed-term role for one-year. Additionally, some evening and weekend work will be required to support events and fundraising campaigns.

About you

Educated to degree level (or with equivalent, relevant experience), you will possess experience of running successful low and mid-level fundraising appeals and/or sales experience. You will demonstrate evidence of strong interpersonal, persuasion and communication skills, along with previous experience of working on telephone fundraising campaigns. A solid grasp of charitable law and GDPR will also be essential for success in this role.

Working at Emanuel

There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims and aspirations.

Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there’s a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.

We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees’ professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we’re committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
