Independent Living Advisor (Direct Payments)

We are a Deaf and Disabled Persons’ Organisation in the London Borough of Haringey. We support our service users with maintaining their independence by helping to ensure they have choice and control over the support they require to be able to live independently in their community.

We are seeking a full-time Direct Payments & Independent Living Advisor, who will be providing support to individuals with a range of disabilities to enable them in using a direct payment, and access to the personal assistant (PA) platform, enabling them greater choice and control over their care and support needs.

As a Direct Payment and Independent Living Adviser, you will be expected to:

· Provide comprehensive support and guidance for both prospective and experienced Personal Assistants, ensuring they understand obligations and responsibilities.

· Offer information and advice on becoming a PA, including facilitating monthly support sessions.

· Provide ongoing support to individuals receiving direct payments, assisting with employment issues and budget management.

· Engage with stakeholders and the community to promote the Social Model of Disability and remove barriers faced by disabled people.

· Lead community engagement efforts, reaching out to local groups and raising awareness to increase membership.

· Responsible for producing monitoring reports, and overseeing marketing and communication efforts for direct payments and Personal Assistant services, including social media campaigns.
