Job description

Role Overview:
As a Trustee with a focus on 3rd Sector Contacts and Affiliations, you will leverage your network of strategic partners and affiliations within the third sector to support the growth and sustainability of DiMHN. Your role will involve building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, identifying partnership opportunities, and advocating for DiMHN
within the wider third sector community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Networking and Relationship Building:
    • Utilise your existing network to foster relationships with key strategic partners and stakeholders within the third sector / NHS.
    • Act as an ambassador for DiMHN, promoting its mission and objectives to potential partners and collaborators.
  • Partnership Development:
    • Identify and help the CEO develop strategic partnerships that align with DiMHN’s goals and values.
    • Work closely with the Board and staff to integrate partnerships into the charity’s strategic plan and operations.
  • Advocacy and Influence:
    • Advocate for DiMHN’s interests within the NHS and third sector, influencing policy and practise relevant to mental health design.
    • Monitor and report on developments within the NHS and third sector that may impact DiMHN’s work.
    • Provide strategic advice to the Board on external trends and opportunities in the third sector.
  • Trustee Responsibilities:
    • Act in the best interest of DiMHN, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
    • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings and sub-committees as required.
    • Ensure that DiMHN pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.

Person Specification:

  • Experience and Skills:
    • Extensive network and affiliations within the mental health care, NHS and third sector, particularly with organisations relevant to mental health, design, or healthcare.
    • Proven experience in partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
    • Strong understanding of the NHS and third sector landscape and key players.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Commitment to the mission and values of DiMHN.
    • Strategic vision and independent judgement.
    • Integrity, objectivity, and accountability.
    • Proactive and collaborative approach.
    • Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role.

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 8 - 12 hours per month, including attendance at Board meetings (typically every 6 weeks).

Location:

  • Most board meetings take place online, using Teams.
  • We aim to have three in-person meetings - one full day strategy meeting, and two board meetings.
  • You would be expected to attend our annual conference

Term:

  • Trustees are appointed for a term of 3 years, with the possibility of renewal.
