The Community Leader will oversee the management of our community services and activities, ensuring the programmes align with local needs, our strategic goals and available funding. 

Key Responsibilities

·Design and implement a comprehensive activities programme that addresses the social, educational and wellbeing f the community.

·Manage the day-to-day operations of our programme, ensuring the seamless delivery of activities and collaborating with all stakeholders to provide high-quality, holistic services.

·Ensure effective project management practices are consistently applied in your work, fostering efficiency and accountability.

·Oversee the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of all community activities, ensuring they align with funding requirements and high-quality reports are provided to funders and partners.

 ·Work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to identify funding opportunities, and prepare and submit high-quality funding applications.

·Build trust and strong relationships with local residents by organising co-production, engagement and consultation opportunities that involve people with lived experience.

·Collaborate with community members to develop and support campaigns that drive change for specific resident groups and continuously improve our referral processes to provide comprehensive support.

·Work with partners, community-led groups, and representatives across various sectors and organisations to enhance support for community members.

·Develop engaging marketing materials, including leaflets, website content, and social media posts, to ensure our services are widely advertised and accessible to a diverse audience.

·Oversee all administrative aspects of project activities and coordinate volunteer and staff schedules.

Key information

Salary: £37,000 – 39,000 per annum (pro rata £31,700 to £33,400)

Hours: 30 hours per week (over a minimum of 4 days)

Contract: Fixed term contract until 30 April 2026 (extension subject to funding)

Holidays: 25 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Report to: Executive Director

Line-manage:  1 Community Development Coordinator and 3 Community Organisers

*you’ll start at our entry point salary of £25,791 per annum, increasing to £27,403 after 6 months service and satisfactory performance and to £29,015 after a further 6 months.

About this job

The MS Society is a dynamic and customer-focused organization dedicated to delivering an exceptional service to our customers. We are looking for three motivated and friendly Customer Services and Central Administration Officers to join our team and provide outstanding customer support.

As a Customer Services and Central Administration Officer, you’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, providing them with a professional and efficient service. You’ll handle inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure that every customer has a positive experience with contacting the MS Society. You’ll also be responsible for processing a wide range of different income types and supporting with the reconciliation process.

Please note: We currently have 3 vacancies; 1 based in our London office, the other 2 based from our offices either in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast. Please specify your preferred location in your covering letter.

Background

Chance to Shine is an independent children’s charity. We change young people’s lives through cricket giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through the sport. We keep them physically active, teach them vital skills like teamwork, communication and leadership. And above all, they have fun.

Since 2005 our Chance to Shine Schools programme has helped reverse the decline of cricket in state schools with millions of boys and girls in over 13,000 state schools playing and learning through cricket. Chance to Shine Street supports young people in under-served communities to access and benefit from cricket in a free, inclusive, fun and fast-paced tape ball environment.

Purpose of the Role

A key part of Chance to Shine’s Communications department, this role will have help to drive awareness of the charity – communicating our mission, vision and messages to key audiences.

Principal Responsibilities

The Communications Officer will support include the following areas:

• To offer support on a range of diverse projects and events to increase the profile and awareness of Chance to Shine
• To help with the planning, execution and analysis of communications and marketing campaigns throughout the year
• To help manage the Chance to Shine brand internally and externally – including both written and visual brand guidelines
• Supporting the Director of Communications and Digital and the Fundraising team with the activation of corporate and funding partners
• Assisting with media liaison and monitoring including but not limited to:

Ø  Managing the media contacts database

Ø  Monitoring and organising media coverage

Ø  Pitching stories to local print, online and broadcast media

Ø  Managing relationships with designated media outlets

•  To lead the charity’s application process for internal and external awards
• To help develop the Chance to Shine ambassador scheme; maintaining relationships and organising visits
• Supporting the Director of Communications and Digital in the production of key publications and documentation
• Support public affairs activities, including drafting letters, preparing lobbying documents, sharing information, and raising awareness of the charity
• To drive content and media activations with key partners such as the England  and Wales Cricket Board and the Chance to Shine delivery network
•  To help carry out any other tasks as required

Skills, knowledge & personal competencies

The job holder should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent IT skills: knowledge and experience of using MS Office Excel, Word and Outlook
• Able to plan and prioritise and work under pressure
• Able to work on own initiative-confident/self-starter/finisher
• An effective and enthusiastic team player
• Willingness to learn with a can do attitude

Experience & qualifications

Essential:

· Track record of working across multiple projects, campaigns or media activations simultaneously

· Experience with developing and executing marketing calendars

· Experience of pitching stories to local and national media outlets 

· Familiarity with media monitoring tools

· Familiarity with campaign analysis tools

· Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Desirable:

• Experience in managing relationships with ambassadors or high-profile individuals

· Knowledge of Westminster and Parliament processes

· Experience in using graphic design tools

· Full and clean UK driver’s license
