Job description

The Multiagency Drop-In is a vital space for people seeking sanctuary in Sheffield; it is a place where they find solidarity, support, advice and a place to access vital services.  A way into the structures and systems that they need to access and are entitled to access; something that is more important than ever.

At City of Sanctuary Sheffield (CoSS) we work to build a culture of welcome and safety for people seeking sanctuary in Sheffield.  We work towards systemic change in the system of asylum and refuge in the UK, recognising that everything people seeking sanctuary experience is impacted by the systems we work within.  We conduct all of this work in solidarity with people seeking sanctuary, ensuring that their leadership capacity is developed and their voices are heard.

In this post you will have the opportunity to manage, sustain and develop the Drop-In so that people seeking sanctuary feel safe, welcome and listened to in this space.  In doing this you will be an integral part of City of Sanctuary Sheffield, supporting us to work towards our vision and enabling us to do so in a sustainable way.

In this role you will be responsible for:

- Ensuring effective management of the multiagency Drop-in as a welcoming space where people seeking sanctuary feel safe and listened to.  This will involve:

  • Maintaining and developing effective relationships with partner organisations attending the Drop-in

  • Managing rotas and use of the space by partners

  • Ensuring all health and safety requirements are met and these are shared with all partners and volunteers at Drop-in

  • Managing and supporting the large and diverse volunteer team who facilitate the Drop-in, working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure they are supported and developed

  • Maintaining systems for monitoring and evaluation of the Drop-in

  • Ensuring smooth and safe running of Drop-in session each week

- Managing and developing relationships with partner organisations.  This will involve:

  • Maintaining positive, open and honest relationships with partners using the Drop-in

  • Actively creating new partnerships across a diverse range of organisations to enhance the Drop-In

- Safeguarding.  This will involve:

  • Ensuring systems are in place so that everyone using the space feels safe

  • Recording and following up all safeguarding concerns arising at the Drop-in in line with CoSS Safeguarding policies.

- Additional duties

  • The context of our work is constantly changing.  Additional duties that reflect the changing needs of the organisation may be required.
