Summary

The role of Chaplaincy Specialist is key to the spiritual growth of children and young people in the Growing Faith intersections of households, school and church. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic team player to support, connect, encourage, inform and develop chaplains and chaplaincy in schools and colleges and to be an advocate for educational chaplaincy across the church and education system in the Church of England. We will be particularly interested in someone who is able to continue working as a school or college chaplain alongside this role. Please note this role is focused on educational chaplaincy at primary, secondary, and further education levels, not on other forms of chaplaincy.

About the Growing Faith Foundation

The Growing Faith Foundation (GFF) started on 1 February 2022, building on the previous two years of Growing Faith work in dioceses. The Foundation is central to the Church's overall aim in its emerging Vision and Strategy to be 'Younger and More Diverse', such that we double the number of children and young people who are active disciples in the Church of England by 2030. 

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Listening to, advising, informing and connecting educational chaplains

• Contributing to existing networks for chaplains and working with the Networks Lead to develop and facilitate new ones where required.

• Encouraging more diversity within chaplaincy through a posture of awareness, by means of coaching, discernment and encouragement of potential chaplains of all ages especially from marginalised backgrounds.

• Encouraging vocations, young and adult, to chaplaincy

• Informing existing training and developing new training for and with chaplains

About you

• Recent experience as an educational chaplain, connected to a church, deanery or diocese, including in a primary or secondary school

• Recent strategic leadership experience in an educational, diocesan, national role or similar

• Understanding of and passion for the aims and work of the Growing Faith Foundation

• Passionate about the value of chaplains in the spiritual nurture of children, young people and the adults surrounding them

• Strong verbal and written communication with skills - a persuasive and competent presenter and collaborative team player

• Personal attributes: A communicant member of the Church of England - this post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be a communicant Anglican under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

Assistant Accountant

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join the team managing the day-to-day accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, under the supervision of the Finance Manager.

This role offers hybrid and flexible working.

Position: Assistant Accountant

Location: Crawley/West Sussex/hybrid (hybrid working available after on boarding period)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (flexible working available)

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

The Role

As Assistant Accountant, you will take a lead role in every aspect of the day-today accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, working in collaboration with the staff team. You will assist with the financial setup of new church plants, ensuring a consistent approach across all of the Church partnership of churches, identifying best-practice and ensuring robust checks and balances are in place as the finance function increases in operational complexity.

Consistency, attention to detail, and best practice are key as this role will also help to establish a centralised resource service, offering a limited range of financial services to other selected churches in the town. This is a hands-on role; the successful applicant will enjoy understanding and implementing the detail of charity and church accounting requirements.

About You

You will be AAT qualified (or equivalent) or have significant appropriate experience and with a demonstrative development of skills.

You will have also have had experience of:

• Financial reporting to deadlines
• Financial transaction processes up to Trial Balance
• Payroll management
• Variance reporting

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children hope and a future. Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, TLG Therapeutic Support will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences.

In this role we are looking for an individual that thrives working with children and young people in a school context and is passionate about supporting pupils and their families struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will be a qualified counsellor with an aptitude for creativity whether this is music and drama, sport and outdoor recreation or other fields of kinaesthetic development. The TLG Therapeutic Counsellor will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents too, so we're looking for an individual who can build and foster strong relationships.

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus. Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We currently have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe. We worked with over 500 children, young people, parents, carers, siblings and professionals in 2023. 

Role Summary:
We are recruiting an Operations Officer who will support with operations across the charity. This includes supporting the team with administration, finance, training and fundraising. We are seeking an individual who is flexible and adaptive in their approach, and has excellent attention to detail, IT and communication skills. Job Purpose 
Growing Hope is a national charity with a growing number of clinics across the UK. This operations role will provide support across the Growing Hope national staff team. This will include support with administration, finance, fundraising and training. This role is key in enabling all the functions of the national charity to run smoothly and effectively. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow. It is anticipated that this time will be flexible and adjusted according to the needs and priorities at the time. Specifically the role with include: 

IT administration

• Administration of IT systems, logins and spreadsheets for the team, volunteers, staff and freelancers (keeping these up to date and amending systems as required).
• Ordering and setting up IT hardware and software for individuals joining the team.
• Oversight of IT systems used by Growing Hope including ticket tailor, jot form, mail chimp, Microsoft office, google adverts and tracking. Supporting with problem solving when issues arise. 
• Overseeing and training others in Canopy (clinic administration software) and helping support and problem solve with using this. This includes liaising with a freelance software developer to manage the development project.

HR administration

• Oversight of the recruitment checking process for new volunteers, trustees, freelancers and employees. This includes carrying out DBS checks, calling referees, chasing for references and communicating with individuals as they start with Growing Hope.
• Management of the ‘internal news’ list in order to track individuals working closely with the charity. 
• Writing, drafting and sending out HR letters, contracts and contract variations. 
• Organising internal events on behalf of the team including away days, training days and ad hoc events. 
• Organising online training as required for members of the Growing Hope team.

Office Support

• Overseeing the day to day office and building use including the alarm, maintenance visits, wifi, printer and other equipment. This includes liaising with other individuals who have office use.
• Liaising with the Director of Operations around the use of the office.
• Ordering office supplies as required, ensuring office space and storage is kept organised. 
• Supporting with external events planning including finding venues, sponsorship and items needed.
• Ordering equipment as required across the team.
• Ad hoc tasks as required across the team. 

Volunteer admin support

• Processing volunteer applications and induction as required. 
• Oversight of volunteers using the office space on a day to day basis. Including allocating volunteer tasks and explaining and supporting with these as required. 
• Managing volunteer IT access. 

General 

• Sending letters and emails and making phone calls as required.
• Logging all actions on Salesforce database.
• Maintain data protection & confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s policy.
• Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and wider Growing Hope policies.
• Actively contributing to staff prayer meetings and upholding Growing Hope’s Christian values.

Person Specification 
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, an interest in additional needs and inclusion are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL

• This role has an Occupational Requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010.  Excellent copywriting and proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Ability to work with Microsoft word, excel, outlook and ppt efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to understand and work with back end IT systems such as wordpress, google admin suite and azure.
• Ability to take initiative and have a flexible approach to tasks. 
• Commitment to Growing Hope’s vision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, as the task requires

DESIRABLE

• Experience, interest in or commitment to a career in additional needs and inclusion. 
• Experience of working in the charity/NGO sector. 
• Experience of other IT systems such as quickbooks, mailchimp and ticket tailor.
