Citizen's Advice helps people find a way forward and speaks up for them. We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating and no one sees so many people, with so many different kinds of problems.

Citizen's Advice North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent offers holistic and tailored advice and support, everything from social security benefits and personal debt, to housing, employment disputes and immigration issues. They also offer specialist help to victims of crime.

About the role
Following the recent appointment of a new CEO, Citizen's Advice has identified the need for a centralised business development function to maximise opportunities with trusts, foundations and statutory funders.

This is a newly-created role with massive potential to develop new relationships and explore fresh opportunities, working alongside a CEO with fundraising expertise and understanding of what it takes to grow income. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll help to develop an organisational fundraising strategy, identifying new business and funding opportunities.

You can expect to be given freedom to shape the role to suit your unique strengths and skills, working towards the following goals and ambitions:

  • Identify new opportunities to diversify income streams and support service delivery.
  • Develop a compelling case-for-support.
  • Write effective applications, bids and tenders to a range of funders.

There's a training and development budget and organisational commitment to continued professional development.

About you
You're a confident and creative fundraising and business development professional, with experience of building relationships with charity sector funders.

We'd love to see a proven track-record of successful applications from either trusts and foundations or public sector bids and contracts (ideally at five figures+).

You're a values-led individual who enjoys working closely with internal stakeholders. Working with the support and backing of the CEO, you're excited to become an internal advocate and champion of fundraising, aiming to nurture a fundraising culture.

Being a considerate, caring and compassionate team player is a non-negotiable, that's just part and parcel of day-to-day work here.

If you're as excited by this opportunity as we are, then we'd love hear from you. Please send a copy of your profile or CV to Amelia Lee at Charity People as the first step.

Deadline: Only because this role has been previously advertised, we'll be working on a rolling basis. Please get in touch as soon as possible if you are interested, we would love to begin conversations with interested candidates early.

If a rolling deadline disadvantages you in any way, please get in touch with Amelia and we'll do our very best to ensure that you don't miss out.

We match charity needs with the skills and experience of candidates, irrespective of age, disability (including hidden disabilities), gender, gender identity or gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.
