Head of Finance

Charity People have partnered with a leading professional body, where my client is looking for a hands on, forward thinking Head of Finance to join a successful finance team.

As the Head of Finance, you will have operational responsibilities for managing the finance function and providing a full financial and management accounting service to the organisation. You will support the Director of Finance and Resources in the delivery of the organisation's strategy and operation of the internal financial governance, processes and procedures.

Salary: £74,775 per annum

Contract: 35 hours per week, full time, permanent

Some of your key duties and responsibilities are;

  • Oversee the annual financial cycle of work to manage and prepare the annual budgets, monthly management accounts and consolidated statutory financial accounts
  • Prepare financial report papers for the Finance and Resources Board and Board of Trustees, auditors as required
  • Oversee and manage the financial processes
  • Oversee and manage Treasury management acting as main contact for College bankers
  • Being the Business and advice the Directors, service heads and other budget holders and Trustees
  • Asset Management and budgeting
  • Strategic project participation and being responsible for external audit provision, managing contracts and develop the new ledger so it remains fit for purpose

Candidates applying for this role must have the following:

  • A recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
  • Knowledgeable on Charity SORP
  • Very strong project management experience - preparation of statutory accounts and also for projects that enhance the IT capability of the finance function
  • Managing and empowering the Finance team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence
  • Experience working in the NFP or charity sector
  • Very strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, senior influencers and other stake holders
  • Ability to analyse and present complex data and make recommendations for action / improvement
  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience of effective operational planning and budgeting
