Libraries Connected (formerly called The Society of Chief Librarians) has 25 years of experience as the professional body representing Heads of Library Services in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Crown Dependencies.

This charity’s role is to represent the public library, connect partners to local libraries, and improve the provision of local public library services by developing standards of best practice and providing training and development for library staff all over the UK.

We are now looking for an experienced Projects and Finance Administrator to support the successful delivery of projects and to support financial processes.


The Role

As a Projects & Finance Administrator you will be responsible for providing administrative and financial support to the Project Manager and Project Boards. Duties will include:

  • Minuting project board and other key project meetings
  • Engaging with participating libraries as required by project managers
  • Supporting finance activity, including raising invoices, processing expenses and maintaining
  • budget records
  • Organising meetings schedules, venues and catering
  • Efficiently managing and organising project paperwork and relevant data.

The Person

To be considered for this exciting role you will have experience supporting project delivery in a multi-faceted administrative role. You will have the ability to organise meetings and events including booking venues and catering as well as minuting meetings.

You will be a confident user of MS Office Tools, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint and have experience of project communication platforms. Confidently numerate, and an ability to manage financial information including spreadsheets and finance databases.

An understanding of the public libraries sector or other areas of public service delivery is desirable, however excellent communication and relationship building skills are key to being successful in this role. With strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders this could be the next rewarding step in your administration career.

The role is home based, however some travel within the UK will be required. The role is part-time (3 days) for this contract, which will run until 30th April 2025 and flexible working arrangements are possible (if agreed in advance).
