Are you a compassionate person? We are currently recruiting for Head of Development and Engagement at CancerCare.

In this role you will develop the client services function for adults, children and young people and deliver an effective and efficient service as well as researching and evaluating developmental opportunities to ensure our services remain sustainable.

Location: Lancaster, with travel around our other centres

Salary: £31,450 per annum

Hours: 30 hours per week

 

Overall Purpose

The Head of Development & Engagement will support CancerCare to meet its agreed strategic aim and objectives of delivering services that provide appropriate, flexible and compassionate support to local people whose lives are affected by cancer, bereavement and other life shortening conditions. You will develop the client services function for adults, children and young people delivering an effective and efficient service as well as researching and evaluating developmental opportunities to ensure our services remain sustainable.

You will be a crucial member of the Executive Leadership Team and will work closely with members of the Board of Trustees.

Main areas of responsibility

·       Be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the organisation.

·       Ensure safeguarding concerns are logged and acted upon and complete all documentation for safeguarding compliance and governance.

·       Lead and provide direction to the high performing engagement and youth teams fostering a collaborative and productive environment.

·       Ensure organisational and local commissioning outcomes are achieved.

·       Identify and support relevant training needs within your team ensuring continuous professional development for staff.

·       Review and evaluate current services, pilots and other projects as appropriate.

·       Identify and create improvement plans.

Networking and development

·       Research and progress service development.

·       Support the Chief Executive and Trustee Board in developing the services of the charity in line with its strategic aims, supporting with clinical data as needed.

·       Develop and enhance effective working relationships with referrers, all associated service providers and other statutory and voluntary sector partners.

·       Represent CancerCare at external meetings including the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and others regarding cancer, bereavement and children and young people’s services (CYPS).

·       In conjunction with the Service Development Group and the Head of Therapy Services, undertake research for the development of services where appropriate.

·       Build and establish partnerships for the benefit of CancerCare.

·       Network with other service providers to hold an overview of local service provision and understand any potential impact.

Support groups

·       Ensure CancerCare is able to facilitate a forum for people with lived experience of cancer.

·       Develop, expand and maintain an effective CYPS peer support group and look for funding opportunities to support this work.

·       Hold overall responsibility for the provision and care of the peer support groups.

General

·       Support the grant and trust fundraisers to apply for funding and ensure grant funding is spent in accordance with grant agreements and feedback is provided in a timely way.

·       Prepare presentations, proposals, plans and reports as necessary for the Board of Trustees / Executive leadership Team (ELT).

·       Work with the ELT and Trustee Board to produce budgets and financial reports as appropriate.

·       Be an active and integral part of the ELT.

·       Complete mandatory training and update relevant training when required.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

·       Represent CancerCare and participate in appropriate external meetings and events in order to remain aware of issues impacting quality and compliance in cancer services.

·       With the wider team, create and implement an engagement strategy.

·       Be an integral part of the service development meetings.

·       Organise and attend relevant meetings as required.

·       Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required to fulfil the duties of this post
