Directorate: Strategy & Philanthropy

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

Our Trusts and Foundations team sits withing our Philanthropy and Strategy directorate and develops relationships with Trust and Foundations who wish to donate and support Cancer Research UK with our life-saving research. Overall, the team contributed £3m last year having a significant impact in supporting out cause.

As a Senior Philanthropy Executive you will support frontline fundraisers by planning and co-ordinating activity for the Trusts & , Foundations team. You'll provide administrative support including meeting planning, briefings, note taking, and data analysis. You will also act as project manager for the biannual mailing programme (which contributes £500,000 per year to our cause) and develop proposals and reports for mid-value donors.

This is a great opportunity for a passionate, proactive and ambitious individual looking for their first step into fundraising, whilst working for the UKs largest charity and with our award winning Philanthropy team.

What will I be doing?

  • Contribute to team effectiveness though the successful delivery of core processes and meetings including diary management, drafting agendas, collating and sending papers, minutes, and monitoring actions.

  • Support effective prospect and donor relationships by ensuring that key academics and leadership receive timely briefings, have appropriate presentations, proposals, talking points and debriefs and follow up is handled.

  • Provide administrative support for the head of team as needed, such as database updates and drafting bespoke comms for high value donors

  • Serve as project manager for Research Now (biannual mailing programme) in partnership with colleagues in Philanthropy Operations ensuring delivery of defined outcomes.

  • Be responsible for managing and responding to donor correspondence and where basic organisational details, policies or forms are required, working with peers to resolves any issues.

  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure database records are kept up to date and accurate across activities, opportunities and donations.

What are you looking for?

  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of individuals.

  • Basic project management skills with proven ability to drive projects through to completion whilst seeking input from multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service skills (customer-centric).

  • Demonstrated experience of successful multi-tasking against often competing deadlines and comfortable with reprioritising as needed.

  • Prepared to take on a wide variety of tasks. Have a "can do" attitude and a demonstrated ability to problem solve

  • Knowledge and experience of fundraising and working in a fundraising operation is beneficial but not essential
