Job description

About Us:

The British Orthodontics Society is a prestigious charity based near London’s Blackfriars station. We were founded on 1st July 1994 by the unification of five existing national orthodontic societies. Although our founding associations go back as far as 1907 when The British Society for the Study of Orthodontics (BSSO) was established.

A registered charity, we pride ourselves in being the experts when it comes to tooth straightening. For over twenty-five years we’ve championed and supported orthodontics in the UK. As a professional society we have patients at the very heart of everything we do and are a trusted, expert resource to both patients and members alike.

The society has two primary objectives, the first is to our members, who are predominantly professional orthodontists who pay for society membership. The second is in our external facing work with members of the public, offering advice and support for orthodontic queries.

Led by a nominated board of trustees, we are a small, closely knit team, who appreciate our heritage and want to ensure that we consistently deliver high-quality advice and support. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and continue to build the charity and our offering.

About You:

You are a super organized and efficient assistant who is used to working at a fast pace with multiple responsibilities and workstreams. You like to support senior stakeholders; however, you also relish autonomous responsibilities and projects outside of the usual remit. You can effectively drive and deliver your own workload and priorities, in line with the Board’s vision, as well as partnering with the internal team to build and contribute to a positive internal culture. You aren’t afraid of getting your sleeves rolled up and helping out our small and close-nit team. You appreciate and understand the legacy and history of the Society and are keen to help continue to grow and improve our offering, consistently adding value for our Members.

What you are here to do:

You are the primary assistant for the Society. Working predominantly for the COO/MD and the Board, your role encompasses both traditional assistant and secretarial responsibilities, as well as some additional projects and deliverables such as managing incoming calls and emails from both members and the public alike. Your main responsibilities lie in the smooth running of the Society, our offices, and the timely response to incoming queries.
