Volunteering Development Manager
British Heart Foundation (BHF) has an amazing opportunity for a Volunteer Development Manager to join our Volunteering team. This is a home-based role with some travel across the UK, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere while making a significant impact. The extent of your travel will be dependent on your home location.

About the role
As an integral part of the Volunteering Team, this role focuses on enhancing and sustaining a proactive corporate volunteering programme at the BHF. Success will hinge on close collaboration with colleagues in Retail and our Marketing Fundraising and Engagement directorate (MFE).
Beyond corporate volunteering, you will support other directorates in involving volunteers and seek opportunities to increase volunteer participation across the BHF. As a senior team member, you will provide expert advice, support change governance, and ensure effective work prioritisation, working with internal teams and external partners to advance the BHF’s mission through volunteering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Enhancing and sustaining a proactive corporate volunteering programme at the BHF
- Collaborating closely with colleagues in Retail and MFE for successful programme delivery
- Supporting other directorates in involving volunteers and increasing participation
- Providing expert advice and supporting change governance as a senior team member
- Ensuring effective prioritisation of work and collaboration with internal teams and external partners
- Advancing the BHF’s mission through strategic volunteering initiatives
Working Arrangements
This is a 12 month fixed-term contract, working until the 30th November 2025.
This is a home-based role with some travel into BHF offices and across the UK.

About you
We are looking for an experienced individual to enhance our volunteering programmes, with strong skills in stakeholder engagement, volunteer management systems, and project implementation.
To be successful in this role you'll have:
- A proven track record with large-scale volunteer management in fast-paced environments
- Skills in engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Good general knowledge of the third sector and the role of volunteers
- An understanding of the complexities and opportunities within Retail Volunteering
- Experience of developing and managing corporate volunteering programmes
- Familiarity with digital onboarding systems and stewardship platforms
- Experience working across multi-site organisations with remote workers
