Job description
  • Are you a Disabled Person committed to change?
  • Do you believe Disabled people can bring about change themselves?

The Bristol Disability Equality Forum (BDEF) is a well-respected community organisation run by and for Disabled people. We have operated in Bristol and the surrounding area for over twenty years. We have a proven track record in reflecting and representing the views of Disabled people to policy-makers and decision-takers, and enabling and empowering Disabled people to build their communities and represent themselves. We are wholly managed and staffed by Disabled people.

BDEF is emerging from a period of transition following the departure of our long-term Director in 2023. We have a new Board of experienced and enthusiastic trustees who are committed to guiding the organisation through its change to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, and to securing funding for its long-term stability.

We have two vacancies for Disabled people to be part of shaping and leading this well-established organisation on to a new and exciting future.

You must be a Disabled person with a strong commitment to, and understanding of, disability as an equalities and political issue. You will need to have experience of managing and leading, overseeing budgets and making funding applications. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in representing disability equality issues in a wide range of settings (statutory Boards, Committees etc.)
