Job description

Family Support Workers are at the heart of our local community, supporting children and families across the Forest of Dean and Gloucester City to fulfil their potential.

We want to grow our team with passionate and driven individuals and as such are looking to recruit a number of full time Family Support Workers.

Roles are initially funded until 31st March 2025 and will be based across the Forest of Dean and Gloucester City.

The job:

  • Support families with complex needs to make positive changes and reach their full potential
  • Work in line with Barnardo's policies and procedures to safeguard children
  • Build positive relationships with families and complete direct work in homes, schools and community spaces
  • Recording accurate and factual information in a timely manner
  • Work with multiple professionals to create and follow plans and assessments to meet the needs of children, young people and their families
  • Run group sessions for children, young people and their families.
  • Take part in team activities and projects
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Are you able to:

  • Provide evidence of a level 3 qualification in working with children and their families (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrate experience of supporting children, young people and their families
  • listen to and communicate effectively with children, young people, families and professionals
  • Use skills and experience to assess family's needs, create and implement support plans for families
  • Be organised
  • Be confident to challenge, while keeping the interests of the child at heart
  • Receive feedback and work constructively and with initiative
  • Be an active member of the team
  • Engage with partner agencies effectively and work with a holistic approach
  • Confidently work with IT systems to accurately record information
  • Safeguard children and vulnerable families
