Job description

MAIN TASKS

Role purpose

• Manage unrestricted trusts programme, delivering over £100,000 of income for Anti-Slavery International’s work.

• Identify trusts and major donor prospects; work with programme and finance teams to prepare restricted grant applications to grow income in line with strategic goals.

• Implement effective donor stewardship with prompt thanking, programme, and impact updates in line with donor interests.

• Work with the Individual Giving team to identify major donors from Anti-Slavery International’s existing membership, supporters, and contacts, and work with the Philanthropy Manager, and other colleagues to cultivate further support from them.

• Support the Philanthropy Manager with major funding applications and meeting plans when required.

• Conduct prospect research using appropriate and varied research tools to regularly identify and cultivate new prospects for trusts, foundations, and major giving pipeline.

• Maintain accurate records of relationships on Raiser's Edge in line with data protection policies and regulations.

• Manage Anti-Slavery International special’s events, including occasional duties outside of office hours.

• Proven experience in a fundraising role and track record of success in securing income by building relationships with donors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

• Proven experience in a fundraising role and track record of success in securing income by building relationships with donors.

• Excellent written communication skills with an experience of writing compelling stories and proposals that inspire people and grant-making trusts to support a charity, couple with a genuine interest in speaking with, and getting to know supporters and potential supporters about the work they can fund.

• Proactive self-starter interested in learning new ways of working and putting them into place quickly, ability to work independently, managing deadlines and reporting as needed.

• Microsoft Word proficiency and working experience of budget building in Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

• Demonstrable experience with fundraising databases (Raisers Edge) and understanding of fundraising data needs.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a major gift, philanthropy or trusts role.

• Demonstrable experience of project management.

• Ability to grasp and communicate complex ideas and communicate quickly in simple terms.

• Demonstrate an understanding of High Value fundraising programmes.

• Passion for human rights, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work in an international organisation with a global network of partners.
