Job description

Sports and Challenge Events Officer, a fantastic opportunity to join a leading Health Research Charity, based in London.

  • Salary: £37,000 per year.
  • Hybrid Working: 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home.
  • Holidays: 28 days per annum + 8 Bank holidays.

As the Sports and Challenge Events Officer, you will play an important role within the Development and Communications Directorate, helping to raise income through Sports and Challenge Events. 

As the Sports and Challenge Events Officer, working with the Head of Fundraising, you will manage and develop successful sports and challenge events programme to help inspire the public to support the charities mission. Focused on widening the reach and leverage the popularity of third-party events as well as the charities own bespoke events.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a profitable, engaging and effective programme of sports and challenge events, that encourage individual fundraising.
  • Manage financial goals through regular budget planning, to achieve an annual sports and challenge fundraising goal.
  • Develop annual plans for sports and community events, based on analysis of past performance
  • Set targets for participants and monitor and manage their fundraising to maximise return on investment.
  • Develop personalised supporter journeys for event participants, encouraging them to hit their targets
  • Develop a marketing programme that promotes events, secures participants and increases levels of participant engagement.
  • Works with Manager and colleagues to develop new bespoke events

This a fantastic opportunity for a Sporting and Challenge Fundraiser to develop their career further, managing and developing the portfolio of Sporting and Challenge events. To be successful in this Sports and Challenge Events Officer role you will have previous experience, skills, and knowledge in areas such as:

  • Strong track record of success within a similar Sports and Challenge Fundraising role.       
  • Ability to create and implement integrated marketing plans for events-related activity.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills to work to tight deadlines and to manage multiple priorities.       
  • Experience of building and developing relationships with a wide variety of individuals; fundraisers, committee members, external suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Experience of utilising social media and digital marketing for similar fundraising activities.           
  • Experience of managing and or setting budgets.
