Job description

Are you passionate about English and dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential? We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate English Teacher with pastoral responsibility to join our vibrant community at The Rise Sixth Form.

In the Rise Sixth Form students attend lessons alongside their mainstream classmates at West Thames College in the London Borough of Hounslow. The Rise Sixth Form has specialist provision within the college and students continue to receive learning support, a social and wellbeing curriculum and pastoral support from The Rise School. Learners have the opportunity to resit Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.

As an integral part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students. Your role will involve planning and delivering engaging English lessons that not only meet the highest standards but also ignite a love for literature and language in our pupils. With a focus on level 2 Functional Skills in English , you'll be instrumental in ensuring that every student achieves success and progresses toward their goals.

This is a new position and will come with significant pastoral responsibility and responsibility for preparing learners for adulthood. Exact responsibilities can be agreed with the successful applicant. There is also the flexibility to make this a part-time post. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire and motivate students.
  • Provide pastoral support to students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide targeted intervention where necessary to ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and resources.
  • Support the delivery of our preparation for adulthood curriculum
