Job description
About The Role

If you want to tackle the biggest health and social care challenge facing the country then this is the role for you!

Dementia has a devastating impact on individuals, their families and society, at a cost of £42bn a year. Through our policy work, we are going to change that. As the UK’s largest dementia charity, the Alzheimer’s Society has thrown its weight behind achieving the better diagnosis, social care and treatment that people living with dementia urgently need.

This role is pivotal to making that happen and this will be a career-defining opportunity to make dementia the priority that it needs to be.

You will have responsibility, working with colleagues in associated teams, for commissioning the collection of robust evidence and creating compelling arguments to convince decision-makers of the need for action. You will build close collaborative relationships with individuals within the Government, healthcare systems, and the voluntary sector to make sure that we are well-informed and in the best position to influence.

Additionally, you will have experience in achieving policy change, driving forward the impact through policy. You will have strong and extensive writing experience, providing briefing to our Executive Leadership teams. You will manage one or more policy officers. You will also be a key part of the Alzheimer’s Society’s management team and will work closely with colleagues in other teams such as influencing, evidence and media, to get our policy positions realised.

Alzheimer's Society has recently been named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023! We have achieved excellent scores for workplace happiness, pride, and job satisfaction. This is a fantastic achievement and we're incredibly proud as this is a great indication of how far we’ve travelled over the past few years.

We would love to welcome more outstanding people to join our exciting journey to make the greatest difference for people affected by dementia.

This is a homeworking role, but you may be required to travel to attend meetings, events and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required. Hybrid working is also available.
