Willow House - Central Lancashire Crisis Service is a mental health recovery house in Coppull. We are working to a recovery model, and are accessed by referral as either hospital preventions, step down, respite and crisis point support. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a 24hour staffed service to our residents aged 16 and upwards.

We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. Responsible for helping and inspiring the people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community, we’ll rely on you to work with them to come up with a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations. Whether it’s developing their domestic and finance management skills or accessing work, leisure or educational opportunities, one thing’s for sure ‐ you will have every chance to shine.

No relevant experience is required as full training will be provided, although candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. More important is your caring and compassionate nature and empathy and enthusiasm for helping others. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a weekly rota system and available for on call duties.

On 1st June 2024, Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. In October 2024, Humankind will be renamed to reflect the new organisation. 

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown.  Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. Our Specialist Advocates support families impacted by fatal domestic abuse through provision of lay advocacy for and on behalf of families with a range of statutory service providers (e.g. those conducting reviews and inquiries, social services, police, housing) and work to build good relations between all parties.  To ensure that families get the support they need, you will use AAFDA’s Home Office endorsed seven-step approach to working with individuals and families, to ensure that they receive the best possible support and advocacy to restore dignity and relief for families and to help them cope and recover. Through trauma-informed approaches, you will:

• listen to families and advocate for them in a complex system that too often treats them as passive participants and overlooks the value of their insight;
• provide information, support, guidance, advice and advocacy on Domestic Homicide Reviews, Mental Health Reviews, Inquests, Independent Office of Police Conduct inquiries and other types of Inquiries;
• manage families’ expectations of the legal and procedural processes facing them by supporting families in meetings with agencies such as health, police and local authorities;
• give families practical help on a wide range of issues - including help with letter writing or advocating with employers and local authorities on the families’ behalf;
• Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.

This role is offered on a full-time basis.

Forcesline is SSAFA's frontline telephone service handling both day-to-day and more complex enquiries from the Armed Forces community.

This role is responsible for the management and development of the Forcesline service and will also act as point of contact for the Veterans Gateway.  The Manager will lead and support a team of advisors, developing the service in response to the needs of the clients and technological requirements, as well as ensuring a high quality of service. The role involves the preparation of data, briefings, presentations and some media work.

About the role

This role requires the management of a small team of advisors who provide free confidential listening, information and signposting service for serving personnel, their families, veterans and professionals who are looking for help. It requires a resilient individual who is able to both support the team and develop the service as it moves forward with advances in technology enabling wider means of communicating with those it is helping.  It is an exciting time to join as these changes are currently occurring and you will be involved with this transition.

About the team

You will work with a great team of advisors who are both experienced and skilled. All Forcesline Welfare Advisors are trained in Safeguarding and each practitioner has at least a Level 2 Counselling qualification. Their experience covers former Samaritans, Pastrol Care, Social Work and Police Despatch Calling. As a team they learn and support one another. You as their Manager will be fully involved with this and will ensure SSAFA delivers on its mission as a trusted source of support to the Armed Forces Community as their times of need.

About you

You will have had experience in delivering welfare support to others, and ideally this has been gained through a helpline. While the team is small, some management experience would be desirable. You will also need to be technically competent as most of this work will be done virtually through digital means.

This role is designed to meet the debt advice needs of Oxford residents. The post holder will provide debt advice including benefit checks, ways to raise income and reduce overheads. Advice will be given by telephone/email, by appointment in person at our office, and to drop in clients at outreaches. 

• A trainee position may be considered for the right candidate at a trainee salary level
• A fully remote position may be considered for a candidate with relevant experience. 

Role purpose: to provide an effective and efficient debt advice service to local residents within the aims, policies and principles of the CA service.   

Key responsibilities:

• Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Use the Citizens Advice Information System to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information.
• Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions.
• Act for the client where necessary by negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available. 
• Signpost and refer internally and externally as appropriate in order to link clients into additional relevant support . 
• -Ensure that all work conforms to the office systems and procedures
• Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.

We're looking for:

• Experience of advice work in debt and benefits. Ideally also experience in a wider range of areas - for example, housing, employment, consumer and immigration.
• Ability to work sensitively with a diverse range of clients
• An understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients, particularly those who may be experiencing stress and anxiety.
• An ordered approach to your work and an ability to follow set procedures concerning casework and file management etc
• Ability to use IT in the provision of advice and the preparation of reports and submissions. 
• Good oral communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills on the telephone. 
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills and on preparing grant applications, reviews, reports and correspondence.
• Numeracy skills required to understand statistics and check calculations. 
• Ability to monitor and maintain own work to comply with set standards 
• An understanding of and commitment to the Aims and Principles of the Citizens Advice service including the services Equal Opportunities policies. 
• Ability to work independently without close supervision, to prioritise own work, meet deadlines whilst contributing to the wider Citizens Advice team.

St Giles Trust have been funded by the Ministry of Justice’s Women’s Interventions Funding to deliver a gender specific service in Coventry for women who are on the periphery of the criminal justice system. Our service will use credible lived experience staff that will position themselves across multiple ‘reachable’ moments for example, working in police stations, courts, and probation to divert women into appropriate support, activities & interventions. We follow a Trauma-Informed responsive delivery model, supporting women who have highly complex & interlinked needs to reduce and desist from future potential offending. We are looking for experienced caseworker-facilitators who will be able to identify additional and specialist learning needs and identify barriers within our female client groups. The mentor facilitators should be able to address and support across the pathways listed below whilst delivering a Healthy Relationship programme within a group setting. 

What we are looking for

• Understanding of the issues faced by females involved or at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system.

• A knowledge and understanding of providing support, advice and advocacy to vulnerable clients and the ability to communicate this knowledge in a variety of ways.

• We would particularly welcome applications from women with lived experience or experience of working in a Mental Health/Wellbeing Service/Role as well as those with experience and understanding of working with other supportive organisations (i.e. Finance, Benefit and Debt Service).

• Ability to assess clients’ needs and provide client-led support.

• Ability to calculate risk and implement safety procedures when engaging with vulnerable female clients in the community.

• Experience delivering group work.

• An awareness or understanding of the issues raised when working with women in police custody or a similar area.

About this key role

As our Financial Wellbeing Coach, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or have been released from prison.  This will involve undertaking assessment and action planning with individual service users and creating a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users. 

We will also count on you to deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards the achievement of prescribed outcomes, including group work sessions, and to work with service users flexibly, meeting and undertaking interventions in a range of locations across a wide geographical area.  Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with external agencies and working towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales and in line with specified quality standards are also vital aspects of the role.

What we are looking for

• Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, e.g., those with complex and multiple needs

• Proven record of working with partner agencies

• Evidence of training at specialist level in money and/or welfare benefits advice 

• Higher level certificate in money and/or welfare benefit advice from accreditation 

• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support 

• Able to work sensitively with clients applying trauma informed strategies

• Welsh Language and a full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.

• Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills, both verbal and written

• Welsh speaker desirable

The vital role of the Nurturing New Adventures Caseworker will focus on engaging and supporting girls and young women in Wolverhampton once they have been identified as being involved in a violence-related incident, being at risk of exploitation or gang affiliated. You will build positive relationships with them and their families and produce risk management plans based on assessments, plus deliver a holistic support service that provides practical help such as housing and social support, education, and training and employment options.

Working for this service you will be part of a team, a regional service and an organisation that is at the forefront of working with young people to reduce the huge harms caused to young females caught up in CSE/CCE. What we are looking for

•    Experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and the ability to assess clients’ needs.

•    Experience of engaging positively with young females or other vulnerable groups.

•    Ability to calculate risk and implement safety procedures when engaging with clients.

•    Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, for example people who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and people who are angry and confused.

•    A knowledge of the cross over from CSE/CCE and how exploitation impacts young females.

•    The ability to use and develop monitoring systems to record all aspects of the project including; actions, outcomes and referrals.

This multi-faceted role will see our successful candidate support the Management Team with recruitment campaigns and the central HR colleagues with our safer recruitment processes. You will also help to coordinate new starter training and provide administrative support to the Management Team in ensuring employee risk assessments are carried out annually and recorded appropriately. 

We will count on you to ensure invoices, expenses and all contracts are submitted to finance in a timely manner and act as the point of contact for all local finance-related queries, while you will also fulfil a broad range of GDPR duties, such as developing, administering and coordinating the local data protection database and monitoring and reviewing new project set ups. Reporting to the Strategic Director for External Affairs, this is a pivotal role which will tell NCB’s story and the difference we make from the playground to parliament, analysing, influencing and ultimately changing the complex systems on which children and families rely. The postholder will position NCB across the sector as a trusted convener, a catalyst for change and a champion of children and families.

JOB PURPOSE

The Children and Young People’s Mentor will work within the CYP team to deliver services relating to children and young people affected by Domestic violence and Abuse.

They will hold a caseload for direct 1-1 work with young people/ girls and deliver a programme of groups in schools to adolescent girls. Responsibilities will include recording of data, reporting and completing evaluations.

They will be expected to promote the work of the Rising Sun and take a share of responsibility in delivering or assisting with promotional work within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery

• Work 1-1 with young people (aged 11 to 15 years) affected by Domestic violence and Abuse
• Build positive working relationships with local schools to deliver this programme
• Hold own caseload and respond in a way that understands the needs of the young people the Rising Sun supports
• Work in a mentoring capacity with children and adolescents with a specific focus on domestic abuse and its impact
• Recognise the impact of domestic abuse on young people and families; showing empathy and understanding in working with these families and developing the capacity to adopt a trauma informed approach to the work
• Support and facilitate groups in schools and in the community focusing on healthy relationships, spotting red flags etc
• Work flexibly with young people and meet with them in a variety of settings such as schools, colleges and community centres, depending on their needs
• Work creatively and flexibly to help support a vulnerable and at times challenging client group.
• Build relationships with partner agencies such as social care, early help, schools, police and health services
• Attend meetings on behalf of the Rising Sun where necessary, promote multi-agency working and build positive working relationships with external agencies at all times

Rydym angen pobl egnïol a mentrus sy'n frwdfrydig ynghylch cynorthwyo pobl eraill i ymuno â'n tîm ffantastig. 

Rydym yn chwilio am bobl sydd â chefndir mewn darparu cymorth emosiynol ac ymchwil ac eiriolaeth ymarferol i bobl fregus ar ôl trawma seicolegol difrifol fel marwolaeth anwylyn mewn amgylchiadau treisgar. 

Yn benodol, rydym yn chwilio am ymgeiswyr gyda: 

• profiad o ofal rheng flaen i bobl mewn argyfwng gyda bregusrwydd a risgiau dwys (dymunol ond nid hanfodol) 

• dealltwriaeth gynhwysfawr o'r prosesau o dan sylw yn y system cyfiawnder troseddol (dymunol ond nid hanfodol) 

• sgiliau ymchwil ac eiriolaeth – rydych yn cwblhau pethau hanfodol drwy gysylltu gydag asiantaethau allanol 

• cadernid sylweddol a pharodrwydd i gael eich datblygu'n broffesiynol a'ch goruchwylio'n glinigol 

• trwydded yrru lawn o'r DU, gyda mynediad at eich cludiant eich hun ac yn barod i'w ddefnyddio at ddibenion gwaith (rydym yn ad-dalu costau teithio).

The IDVA team works within a multi-agency system to provide a proactive, person-centered independent service for victims of domestic abuse, empowering choice through informed decision making.

Key elements of the role include:

• Providing priority support to service users.
• Risk assessing and helping to keep service users safe through safety planning.
• Enabling victims to access statutory and other services.
• Engaging with and supporting the MARAC process, to ensure that the voice of victims is heard.
• Managing a caseload of high-risk victims and working proactively to support them and their families.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide a high-quality service to those at the highest risk.
• To provide practical and emotional support to service users, working jointly with them to carry out, implement and review needs assessments and support plans.
• To understand and work effectively within a multi-agency framework, consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse, in order to reduce the risk for service users and their families.
• Identify and assess the risks and needs of service users using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
• Work with high-risk service users to help them access services, to keep them and their children safe.
• Advocate for high-risk service users with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse.
• Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to service users and how your role fits into them.
• Providing information to service users in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.
•  Working directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of high risk service users and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated particularly through the MARAC.
• Manage a case load ensuring each person receives the appropriate support, tailored to their needs.
• Support the empowerment of the service user - assisting people to recognise the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation, and help them regain control of their lives.
• Support service users to maintain existing accommodation and to advocate on their behalf, in order to access accommodation and additional support.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with specialist agencies, both statutory and voluntary, to support those with multiple support needs.
• To recognise, respect and address the needs of service users who face barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBT communities, disabled people, those with complex needs and other groups which services have found difficult to reach.
• Provide practical and emotional support in relation to criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, education, employment, welfare benefits, counselling, legal aid and children’s support.
• Accompany service users, when needed, to other relevant agencies and support them in their interactions with these agencies.
• To work alongside colleagues to deliver a whole family approach.
• Be proactive with your line manager to carry out periodic case reviews.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services work in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.
• Help maintain accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring information for the service.

• Remain up to date and concordant with organisational procedures, policies and professional code of conduct, upholding standards of best practice.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness where required.
