We’re looking for an experienced, part-time volunteer coordinator to deliver our extensive volunteer programme, featuring our Older People’s Befriending projects, our group assistants, our administrative volunteers and other volunteer opportunities. 

What we do

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe. Set in a leafy heritage building and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects. Time & Talents is well-known for supporting isolated and lonely older people in the area. Our volunteer Befriending scheme is more than 40 years strong and helps around 75 housebound older people each year to have social contact they can rely on. Cycling Without Age (CWA), a newer branch of our volunteer work based on a Danish model, has transformed into Bicycle Befriending since the pandemic. Bicycle Befriending pairs trained cyclists with older people for regular rides round the parks in our specialist trishaws. The trishaws are also a big hit at our events! In addition to the Older Adults programme needs, we need volunteers each week to support our community groups and our administrative needs. Corporations often want to volunteer as teambuilding events or to help with our community offer, and this role plays a lead role as first point of contact for those queries as well. We are building our volunteer-driven offer whilst staying focused on our aims: ensuring that everyone feels part of a community and that no one is isolated or lonely.

The role

In this role, you’ll:

• Develop volunteering roles and projects in line with T&T’s aims across programme areas.

• Support programme areas to develop their volunteer roles and recruit, train and support those volunteers.

• Develop and coordinate the befriending and CWA projects at Time & Talents, including recruitment, training and support of volunteers and service users in these projects.

• Act as first point of contact for corporate volunteering inquiries.

About you

You have a track record in driving the excellent delivery of grant-funded community programmes in the third sector. You’re an emotionally resilient and experienced team leader with a growth mindset and plenty of grit. You’re flexible, accountable, take responsibility, are highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities. You have experience of fundraising and maybe other types of income generation. You have strong relationship building skills – internally and externally - and build trust and credibility easily. You are passionate about the power of community to connect and support people.

There are 1.5 million children and young people with a disability (CYPD) in the UK.  Over three quarters cannot access regular leisure facilities which massively impacts their health and well-being. Furthermore, the impact of living with a disability can have a significant impact on the wider family, with over 72% of parents reporting mental health challenges and over two thirds saying they feel isolated some or all of the time.

Gympanzees’ mission is simple. We want all children and young people living with a disability to have access to high-quality, fully inclusive leisure facilities so that they can enjoy fun, fitness, and friendships and support their families out of isolation.

Sounds simple, but it’s a huge task.  There is nowhere in the UK like this. Anywhere. At all.  But we’re changing that, and we want you to join us!

Since 2018 we’ve been hosting Pop Up’s during easter and summer months, across Bristol, in various special schools which has seen us welcome over 23,500 visitors.  Each one has helped hone and improve our delivery model, and longer-term plans.  These Pop Ups have seen some incredible firsts, including:

· A 6 year old taking their first steps

· A 12 year old sleeping through the night for the first time

· A 3 year old having his first laugh

· An 8 year old rolling over for the first time

Families have travelled from all over the country to enjoy the Pop Ups, some covering 6-hour journeys just for their afternoon of fun!

During COVID we quickly adapted our offer to include a Lending Library which continues to this day, offering nearly 300 items of specialist equipment, free of charge.

In 2023 we purchased a new site to develop into a permanent home which will open in summer 2026.  Redevelopment is underway, and so too is an £8 million campaign to support this extraordinary project.

Where you’d fit in

Gympanzees is a growing team which currently consists of 16.  The fundraising team consists of 6 people.  This role is a crucial member of the fundraising team and will be delivering on a vital income stream that is both financially and strategically significant for the capital project.

Job description

As the Senior Fundraising Manager for Trusts and Statutory, you will play a pivotal role in securing vital income from across these funding streams, whilst leading a small team to maximise their own fundraising efforts from similar sources.

This position is ideal for someone with proven experience in researching and crafting successful grant applications from both traditional grants as well as local and national statutory source.  It will especially appeal to those with capital campaign experience but is not a pre-requisite.

You'll be tasked with distilling complex information into compelling narratives that effectively convey our mission and objectives while aligning with grant requirements. Excellent copywriting skills are essential, as you'll need to create engaging and informative content that tells our story authentically and passionately.

Your approach will be highly organised and methodical to ensure accuracy and compliance with grant briefs. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, you'll collaborate closely with a high-level fundraising team to maximize funding opportunities and drive positive impact.  Additionally, you shall line manager the Trust and Foundations Manager.

Main Responsibilities - include but are not limited to.

1. Grant identification and Research: Conduct thorough research to identify

potential grant and statutory funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources aligned with Gympanzees' mission and projects.

2. Grant Proposal Development: Lead the development of compelling grant proposals, including conducting needs assessments, defining project objectives, outlining budgets, and articulating impact metrics.

3. Grant Application Process: Manage the end-to-end grant application process, including drafting, editing, and submitting grant proposals within deadlines, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.

4. Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential funders, including government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and corporate partners, to enhance funding prospects and collaboration opportunities.

5. Budgeting and Financial Management: Collaborate with the finance team to develop project budgets, monitor spending against grants, and ensure accurate financial reporting to funders.

6. Grant Compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to fulfill reporting obligations.

7. Grant Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of grant-funded projects, collecting and analyzing data to assess outcomes and inform future funding strategies.

8. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, finance staff, and other team members to align funding strategies with organizational priorities and project needs.

9. Knowledge Sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding opportunities relevant to Gympanzees' mission and share insights with the team.

10.  Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the organization's grant-seeking efforts and overall fundraising strategy.

11.  Management of Grants and Trust Officer and grants consultants that we are working with.

Skills you’ll need

1. Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, or development, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

2. Strong understanding of grant funding mechanisms, including government, foundation, and statutory funding programs.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive grant proposals and communicate complex ideas effectively.

4. Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure when needed.

5. Financial acumen, including budget development, financial reporting, and grant compliance.

6. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach to achieving funding targets.

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software platforms.

We are looking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Manager. A key focus of the role is the development of our donor management systems and corporate partnerships, whilst providing strategic oversight of the charity’s internal and external communications. Bid-writing expertise is desirable but not essential. About the role:

Working under the direction of the Service Manager you will be primarily responsible for designing, implementing and co-ordinating recovery-focused activities. You will work with SHP colleagues, partnership agencies and those using the services to ensure the programme meets the latter’s needs. You will be responsible for delivering elements of the programme, in addition to supporting staff members, volunteers, students, clients and peers to facilitate groups and activities.

The Business Manager will be responsible for financial management, operational efficiency, HR, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

• Oversee daily operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and effectively

• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and to comply with stakeholder contracts and agreements and  all relevant regulations and legal requirements.

• Oversee programme administration processes to ensure the efficient management of these areas

• Monitor and evaluate the performance of services and programmes with the Management Team. Coordinate the delivery of effective Management Information and analysis of Appeer operations for regular review by the CEO and Board

• Ensure all necessary IT software, hardware and resources across the organisation are implemented and managed well, securely and up-to-date.

Financial and Funding Management:

• Oversee financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, and ensure compliance with financial regulations with Financial Manager

• Support the Board of Directors and Finance Committee with financial reporting, analysis and financial and sustainability strategy development for the organisation with Financial Manager

• Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and partnerships; manage funding relationships and grant monitoring and reporting with CEO and internal staff

• Manage external supplier contracts and relationships: ensuring contracts, insurances, subscriptions and rentals/hires are maintained to ensure continuity of cover/use and offer best value for the organisation

HR Management:

• Oversee the management of HR across the organisation, advising on the strategic recruitment, management and development of staff and volunteers

• Responsible for the coordination of recruitment, induction and training of new recruits

• Provide ‘business partner’ HR support to Line Managers

• Coordinate Appeer’s process of regular performance and reward reviews and coordinate a programme of ongoing training and development opportunities

• Ensure compliance with HR policies and employment legislation and that employment contracts and the Employee Handbook are kept under ongoing review

• Ensure best practice delivery of  employment practices in line with Appeer’s values

• Line manage the Admin Officer, Finance Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Strategic Planning:

• Work with the CEO to develop and implement the Appeer CIC’s strategic plan

• As a member of the senior leadership team, support the CEO and board in organisational strategy development

• Identify opportunities for growth and development of services

• Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, funders, community partners

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure Appeer complies with all relevant regulations and legal requirements.  Manage risk, including health and safety, data protection, complaints and safeguarding. Communicate relevant policies and procedures to staff, families and service users (as appropriate)

• Work with the CEO/Engagement Manager to ensure that Appeer CIC fulfils its duties and responsibilities associated with internal and external contracts and agreements

• Act as Appeer’s Data Controller for GDPR purposes

• Maintain the organisation’s Risk Register and coordinate a formal quarterly review  and report to the CEO

• Maintain accurate records and ensure robust reporting mechanisms are in place

• Act as the channel of communication with Appeer’s insurers and, legal advisers when issues arise, keeping the CEO and Board informed as necessary

Appeer is a Community Interest Company (CIC) set up to deliver services that support autistic girls and women (and those assigned female at birth) to connect with peers, to develop their life/work skills and to support their wellbeing.   Over the past 5 years our founder and current CEO has taken the vision of creating a community where autistic girls and women can connect from a small, passionate team into a robust and impactful organisation.

We provide  In Person and Online Activity groups and programmes, Alternative Provision, events and resources for those in the community that we serve, their parents/carers and other professionals. We are not a therapeutic setting and as such do not offer clinical support or 1:1 supervision.

About this role

Following the significant development of EduSpots’ income and activities in the last year, we are looking for an experienced finance and operations professional to provide exceptional support to the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Development, and Head of Operations (Ghana-based) to ensure the development of robust financial and operational systems, policies and processes. 

The candidate can work from any location, but will have a strong knowledge of UK law and charity accounting in an international development charity context. You will be a self-starter, able to work independently on tasks assigned, whilst proactively suggesting improvements to our systems, policies and wider strategic development.

Main duties and responsibilities 

• Work with the UK Finance Officer (volunteer) and Ghana based Finance Manager and Head of Operations to oversee global finances, so that consolidated management accounts and donor financial reports can be produced.
• Support with the roll-out of new accounting software and reviewing intercompany financial processes to ensure accountability and compliance with recognised accounting standards.
• Support with bank account management and reviewing funds transfers.
• In future, possibly manage staff payroll, including tax and pension contributions.
• Oversee the onboarding and screening of new staff, contractors or volunteers in the UK and other locations outside Ghana, including reference checks, criminal records checks, preparing contracts, etc.
• Review and keep organisational policies and procedures (including staff handbook) up to date, staying abreast of any changes in the wider external legal and operating environment. 
• Monitor compliance to organizational policies and escalate compliance and operational risks to the CEO. 
• Monitor and renew insurance cover.
• Support with other tasks related to finance and operations as time permits.

Knowledge & Experience

• Qualification in accounting, or working towards one.
• Experience working on finance within an international NGO.
• Knowledge of governance requirements within a UK charity, and of working in compliance with the Charity Commission of England and Wales.

Better Cotton is seeking a Grants Accountant to support project teams with the financial management and administration of grants received from donors. You will be responsible for preparing financial reports for donors for grant-funded projects and will work closely with project teams to ensure those projects are delivered within budget and in accordance with the donors’ requirements.

The position sits within the Finance team and is supervised by the Grants Accounting Manager (based in London).

Responsibilities

Grants compliance

· Ensure compliance with donors’ financial requirements, rules and regulations, and internal

and external deadlines.

· Prepare accurate, timely financial reports as per donors’ requirements.

· Work closely with the project teams to ensure that required procurement processes are followed.

· Coordinate project audits, liaise with auditors and project team, collate audit documentation, and respond to auditors’ queries.

Financial management and accounting

· Monitor project expenditure in collaboration with project managers, addressing variances and mitigating actions.

· Maintain accurate accounts and allocation of expenditure, ensuring adequate supporting documents for all grant-funded expenditure.

· Prepare funding requests to donors and monitor grant income.

· Provide support and guidance to budget holders on monitoring the project budget and forecasting.

· Undertake project financial close out (including reconciliations).

· Allocate staff costs to grant-funded projects based on timesheets.

· Monitor, maintain and administer the timesheets application and data in SalesForce and FinancialForce (Certinia).

· Support with quarterly accounting for grants (e.g. recognising income, reviewing balance sheet codes).

General

· Support grant proposals, including budget development and financial review.

· Support with budgeting and forecasting for the organisational budget preparation and monitoring cycles.

· Provide support with year end processes and statutory audits.

· Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the line manager and that are compatible with the job description.

Profile

The selected candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

Essential

· Recognised qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

· Excellent command of Excel and literacy in other Microsoft 365 apps (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

· Bookkeeping and Accounting: experience in a finance support function

· Experience working with an ERP or accounting package

· Experience in financial reporting to donors

· Experience in preparing financial reports for budget holders and managers

· Experience in grants financial management and compliance with contracts (in particular with donors’ contracts)
