We're a registered charity on a mission to improve the way that credit is provided and create better support and solutions for people who are struggling with debt. We conduct high quality research and test out innovative solutions. We're now seeking a Researcher to join our small but developing team.
Job Description
Salary Range: £29,000 to £34,000.
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week. Consideration will be given to four day working and other flexible arrangements.
Pension: Company pension scheme with NEST, with employer contributions at 6% of salary.
Term: Fixed for 12 months, with an intention to extend.
Reporting to: Chief Executive.
Location: Remote, but with a requirement to attend physical team planning meetings four times per year in locations around the UK (expenses covered).
Probationary period: 6 months.
Purpose
CfRC has a solid reputation for delivering high quality mixed methods research and evaluation. The postholder will work on a variety of projects and tasks and will be supported to obtain a flexible skillset in research and evaluation as well as building their knowledge of the impacts of credit use and debt problems amongst low-income households.
All our projects involve reviews of relevant literature in their design phase. Recent examples of projects also include:

Designing topic guides and conducting in-depth on-line qualitative interviews with low-income households to explore how messaging about the importance of maintaining ‘good’ credit scores is impacting financial behaviours.

Designing and analysing a survey of borrowers using a no interest lending product to assess the impacts for financial well-being and health.

Undertaking secondary data analysis of the Financial Lives Survey to explore the drivers behind the use of illegal lenders.

Conducting stakeholder interviews with not for profit third sector lenders to evaluate the effectiveness of grant support received during the Covid pandemic.
The researcher will play a key role in helping us to deliver similar projects to time and budget and maintain our high standards. The role requires commitment to our mission and values to maintaining the standards set by the Research Integrity Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducting literature reviews.
Assisting with the drafting of research proposals, evaluation frameworks and analysis plans.
Designing topic guides, setting up and and undertaking qualitative interviews, online or by phone, and conducting focus groups.
Designing surveys and managing analysis processes (for example, creating coding frameworks or summarising data in Excel).

Right now, we’re looking for someone like you to manage the day-to-day running of our Employment service in Aylesbury at the Sue Nicholls Centre. We’re a job regain, return and retention service embedded and working alongside Oxford Health NHS Talking Therapies and our team provides support, advice and guidance to people in work as well as those either out of work or off sick. As well as ensuring the quality of service and support provided to people who use our services, with support from our Regional Operations Lead, we’ll rely on you to manage service contracts and line manage front-line staff. Whether you’re carrying out an induction, undertaking an investigation, putting team development plans in place or providing support to our business development team, one thing’s for sure – you won't be short of challenge and variety.
We expect you to have substantial experience gained managing a caseload of individuals with mental health and employment needs, as well as being outcome-driven and able to lead by example using your firm but inclusive management style. About the Role
You will be working in one of three dispersed properties within a multi-agency team of other charities in the same accommodation which will be based in Havering. It is a therapeutic service to provide young people with an opportunity to a fresh start. The service will work creatively and holistically to enable young people to move forward from lifestyles which were impacted by gangs and exploitation and help them reach their full potential by identifying and reaching their aspirations, assisting them to move on successfully to appropriate independent living.
The Senior Progression Coach is responsible for contributing to the effective and safe delivery of the service on a day-to-day basis. Role Overview:
As a Young Persons Link Worker, you will be providing social prescribing support to young people, and/or their families. The aim of the role is to help clients improve their health and wellbeing by connecting them to community support. This could include helping people with a range of issues such as coping with social pressures, emotional wellbeing, physical inactivity, financial difficulties, crime, loneliness, bullying, relationship issues, housing issues and family problems.
The role involves working with professionals in Primary Care, education, social services and other community and voluntary sector services to develop the service. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, passionate about supporting people and dedicated to reducing inequalities in the local area.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Person-centred care and support
- Deliver effective social prescribing appointments using a holistic and person-centred approach
- Empower clients to take control of their own wellbeing by building their confidence, motivating them to set goals and creating personalised action plan
- Signpost and refer people to local voluntary, community and statutory services that help meet their needs
Communication and Collaboration
- Work with the Primary Care partners and the Enable Health & Wellbeing Team to develop a social prescribing service that supports young people and families
- Maintain regular contact with primary care teams, providing updates and sharing knowledge of local VCSE organisations
- Develop supportive relationships and work in partnership with local VCSE organisations, community groups, and statutory services to make safe and effective onward referrals
Service Quality and Development
- Collect and record outcome and monitoring data using required systems, contributing to the evaluation of the programm
- Manage own case load to ensure clients receive appropriate levels of support and expectations are met and keep accurate records of client interactions and record all onward referrals to VCSE service
- Gather client feedback to evaluate the quality of the service and to inform service changes and developments
- Complete Quality Assurance Assessments for VCSE organisations accepting social prescribing referrals to ensure they are safe, effective, and have the support they need to be part of social prescribing
Skills and Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a role that involves delivering face-to-face support in a relevant health, social care or youth work environment
- At least 2 years’ experience working with/ supporting disadvantaged young people and their families
- Experience of working with the VCSE sector, including with volunteers, small community groups and youth groups
- Experience of partnership working and relationship building across different sectors and organisations
- Motivational interviewing, behaviour change, or health coaching qualification (desirable) or willingness to undertake training (essential)
- Understanding of the challenge’s young people and families within inner London face particularly relating to obesity and mental health issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) and other client monitoring systems or tools as required
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range partners including GPs, VCSE organisations and service users
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; able to communicate with a range of stakeholders in a meaningful way
