IPSEA is the leading charity in the field of special educational needs and disability (SEND) law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. We also provide training on the SEND legal framework, and we influence policy at both a local and national level.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Trusts and Philanthropy Officer to join our small, ambitious fundraising team. IPSEA has a proven track record of successfully securing grants, and this is a new role designed to help strengthen and grow IPSEA’s income from charitable Trusts and Foundations. You will be responsible for researching new funding opportunities, preparing and submitting tailored applications and reports, and managing relationships with existing funders through thoughtful and timely stewardship. You will also support the early development of strategies in major gifts and wider philanthropy. 

This role is an opportunity to play a key role in our future fundraising strategy and help secure long-term financial sustainability for our services. 

You will work remotely, with occasional travel required for essential meetings approximately 4-5 times per year.

About the Group Housing Officer role:

The Role

We are recruiting for a Community Fundraising Manager to join our Fundraising team. The role will be instrumental in the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and building fundraising partnerships across a range of community audiences, including youth and education, sports clubs, community groups and individuals doing their own activities. You will be responsible for growing our existing community products such as Turn Cricket Red as well as introducing new products and initiatives to generate growth in Community Fundraising. In early 2018, Ruth Strauss, the wife of Sir Andrew Strauss the former England cricket captain, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers. Ruth died on December 29th 2018; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

We are looking for a Hospital Carers' Lead to join our service supporting unpaid carers while the person they look after is in hospital and during the discharge process. We know that this can be a worrying and stressful time and that too often carers do not know where to turn to for information and support. Help us make sure that carers get the help and support they need, at this critical time. 

You will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering our offer for carers which seeks to increase the identification of carers within local hospitals, improve carer support during their cared for hospital stay and following their discharge from hospital. 

The Hospital Carers Lead will be responsible for: 

• Offering tailored short-term 1 to 1 support to unpaid carers, working together to develop and implement plans to help improve carers’ experiences during the hospital stay, prepare for discharge and to address carers’ own needs. 

• Supporting unpaid carers while the person they care for is in hospital via signposting to relevant support and information about their rights. 

• Working collaboratively with partners within the hospital, to raise awareness of carers and increase identification.

• Work directly with students in a professional and safe manner.

• Engage with school staff, your Programme Manager, and students in school to ensure that you have fully enrolled cohorts across both programmes.

• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful Key Stage 5 and university applications.

• Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner (training is provided).

• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programmes.

• Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on our programmes progress.

• Support the wider team by attending university site visits which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off is provided).

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support from your line manager (Senior Programme Manager), as well as guidance from more senior University Access Officers and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. There are opportunities for progression, including several additional responsibility roles which are available for UAOs to apply for once they have completed their probationary period successfully.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead and grow our national family support services for disabled children, young people, and their families. As Head of Advice, Information and Family Support, you will be responsible for the strategic development, delivery, and quality assurance of a broad portfolio of non-clinical family services—ranging from emotional and practical support to peer networks, parenting guidance, and tailored one-to-one interventions.

You will be a confident leader with extensive experience managing family-facing services, ideally within health, social care, or community settings, and possess a strong track record of working closely with commissioners and local authorities to secure funding and shape service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Service Development

• Lead the strategic development of our national family support services, ensuring they are responsive, evidence-informed, and outcomes-focused.
• Identify opportunities for service innovation and expansion, particularly in response to commissioning priorities and gaps in local provision.
• Ensure alignment with organisational goals, sector best practice, and the diverse needs of disabled children and their families.

Commissioning and Partnership Engagement

• Build and maintain excellent working relationships with local authority commissioners, Integrated Care Boards, and strategic partners to influence commissioning decisions and secure long-term funding.
• Lead on tender submissions, funding proposals, and service agreements, ensuring alignment with local priorities and national policy developments.

Service Management and Quality Assurance

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and performance of a wide range of family support services, ensuring high standards of delivery and consistency across regions.
• Implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, using data, feedback, and impact reports to inform service improvements and demonstrate outcomes to funders and stakeholders.

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial leadership experience within family support services, children’s services, or similar community-based roles.

• Strong strategic and operational skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-faceted services.
