Within the Chief Executive’s Office, the UK Advocacy and Health Intelligence Department are focused on creating lasting change. We identify creative policy solutions in response to the challenges people with arthritis face. We influence decision-makers through stakeholder engagement, public affairs activity and by campaigning alongside people with arthritis. We have expertise across health and care services, public health, and employment policy. We also work in collaboration to influence medical research and data policy and play an active role in several cross-sector groups. About the role
The purpose of this role is to drive policy development across our policy priority areas. The Policy Officer will lead on specific policy projects, commissioning research, developing policy positions, and producing reports and consultation responses.
This role will cover a broad range of issues across one of our strategic goals – prevention and diagnosis; access to treatment; and living well with arthritis. Our approach considers the needs of people of all ages who have arthritis.
The Policy Officer will also contribute to the wider work of the team, working closely with colleagues in the Nations Teams, the Research Directorate and the wider charity, including by representing us on cross-sector policy groups, drafting briefings, and participating in events and conferences.

About Care4Calais and the Legal Access Department
Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.
In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, working alongside communities in Calais and Dunkirk to provide warm clothing, bedding and service provision to displaced people who live in appalling and dangerous conditions.
Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as providing social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to medical and educational services.
Our Legal Access Department is an access to justice project that exists to support people seeking asylum in the UK by facilitating access to legal representation and offering holistic support to people throughout the asylum process. The department, made up mostly of specially trained volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that people feel informed, empowered, and far less isolated and alone. We conduct one-to-one, complex casework for people seeking asylum for a variety of matters, over the years we have supported thousands of people to secure legal representation. Our current casework channels include securing legal representation and support for people’s asylum claims, challenges to unsuitable accommodation and potential removal from the UK (for example under the previous Rwanda policy), and support of young people in their age dispute matters. Our teams work remotely across the UK. The Department seeks to adapt and amend our services based on the needs of the communities that we work with.
About the role
The aim of the role is to support and inspire volunteer casework teams to undertake the individual one-to-one casework and support that lies at the heart of what the Legal Access Department does, furthering access to justice for people seeking asylum and refugees. The successful candidate will lead our Asylum Team of volunteer caseworkers to support individuals in their asylum claim, assisting with legal referrals and onward signposting where appropriate. They will work collaboratively with other Volunteer Team Leads and the Head of Department to respond with agility to a fast-moving policy environment.
Responsibilities
Volunteer Team Lead / Coordinator

Lead existing team(s) of volunteers to undertake their specified casework roles as agreed with the Head of Department.

Conduct quarterly 1:1s with volunteers to receive feedback, reaffirm commitments, and ensure volunteer wellbeing. Escalate any issues and/or concerns to the Head of Department where necessary.

Motivate and engage volunteers, taking into account the remote nature of the roles, collaborating with other Volunteer Team Leads.

Role purpose

The Digital and Social Media Manager is part of a collaborative and creative team responsible for the development and delivery of the CW+ Communications and Marketing strategy, including on- and offline communications, PR and media, donor stewardship and marketing collateral, and events support.
Reporting to the Head of Communications and Marketing, the Digital and Social Media Manager will be proactive in shaping and managing the charity’s digital presence (including the website), with a strong focus on tracking and using data. Key responsibilities and duties

The Membership Engagement Officer is an exciting and varied role at the College as you will be responsible for increasing engagement with members and enhancing the member experience, whilst driving engagement initiatives and increasing member retention.
As Membership Engagement Officer, you will work with multiple teams across the College helping to develop and implement strategies to attract, engage and retain members through events, social media, newsletters and other communication channels while developing content that caters for our diverse membership groups.
Working with the Communications Team, you will help create and manage engaging content for member communications, ensuring opportunities for two-way communications and engagement, whilst also ensuring the best use of emerging channels and technology – e.g. podcasts, apps and webinars – to deliver content to members, segmented to our different audience members.

The National Influencing Manager is an important role in our mission to make dementia the priority it needs to be. This is way more than a typical public affairs job. In fact, it’s not a typical public affairs job at all. We do things differently here. We don’t carp from the side-lines and moan about how bad everything is. Instead, we develop overwhelming, evidence and policy-based cases for change which we deploy based on our deep understanding of a complex, constantly adapting system.
Dementia is a whole system challenge so it demands a whole system approach. That means our National Influencing Manager needs to determine key decisionmakers capable of shaping national policy and then engaging them directly with an overwhelming case for change. Understanding the system is paramount, as is deploying evidence and policy in the most impactful way. We work across England, Northern Ireland and Wales, but this role is predominantly focused on England. It will require close working with National Influencing Managers in the other nations as well as with colleagues in Local Systems Influencing, Policy and Evidence. Integration and teamwork is everything in this role – with colleagues internally and with the system externally.
You’ll lead a team of three National Influencing Officers, and be part of an even larger Evidence, Policy & Influencing (EP&I) function which is laser-focused on ending the devastation of dementia through changing policy. As an integral part of the part of EP&I Management Team, you will share responsibility for management of the sub-directorate.

The Caseworker (Health Projects) role involves working across our Patient Welfare Advice Service (PWAS), which takes referrals from GPs and social prescribers, and our Macmillan Benefits Advice Service, which supports people affected by cancer. Our caseworkers help people navigate complex problems and find practical solutions. They have good technical knowledge of the social welfare issues that matter most to our clients and are responsible for delivering advice with a moderate level of supervision. They also have responsibility for managing incoming referrals and maintaining positive relationships with project partners. This is an advice role that involve providing casework support and could full-time role or two part time roles, which we’re happy to discuss following interviews.

The role
As an Outreach and Engagement Practitioner you will help individuals and families to build confidence and access the support available from our services.
One of the key priorities of Gamcare South East is to reach out to individuals, families, and communities to make it easier to talk about gambling and gambling related harms. This is done by working across the region to engage with underserved communities to ensure everyone can access information and support.
You will be responsible for building effective working partnerships with professional services through the delivery of presentations, networking and creating new referral pathways. Your role will be integral in making the service accessible.
To support this, your responsibilities will include:
- Participation in service promotion, networking activities and events to support visibility and ongoing development of the service
- Development and maintenance of relationships with local services and communities, providing information to support the identification of gambling harms and pathways into the service
