About The Role

As a Recruitment Coordinator, you'll be joining our passionate and supportive recruitment team, working closely with Senior Recruiters to help identify and attract the best tutors for our students. About the role

This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in Oasis Academy Hadley and Lilian Baylis Technology School.

The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of the programme is optimised.

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with students in a professional and safe manner
• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme
• Match students with volunteer tutors
• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
• Monitor the impact of tutorials, and intervene as appropriate
• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
• Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
• Chair and present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.

In this multifaceted role, you'll be responsible for both content creation and supporting unpaid Carers to become digitally connected. You will manage and create engaging content for our social media platforms and website as well as maintain the charity’s website, ensuring it stays updated, accessible, and reflective of our mission. 

You will conduct digital assessments for Carers to determine their needs—whether they require devices, internet access, or digital skills training and provide 1:1 support to help Carers navigate the digital world with confidence.

Our office is based in Downton and that’s where our monthly Executive Team meetings are held. The Role

About You

An understanding of the Criminal justice system and the impact of crime on victims and witnesses are essential for this role, as well as experience of the following:

About James’ Place 

James’ Place Charity was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts, but didn’t find it.   

James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. James’ Place offers men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected. 

The first James’ Place opened in June 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, and has to date supported more than 2,300 men experiencing suicidal crisis through our innovative and safe therapeutic intervention. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centre and in our landscaped garden, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families.

In 2022 we opened a new centre in London and in early in 2023 we launched an appeal to raise over £10m to fund three more centres across the country. Our third centre opened in Newcastle at the beginning of 2024, and we are currently raising funds to open a James’ Place in Brimingham. 

The Fundraising and Communications team 

We are a small team with big ambitions. The team comprises a Head of Fundraising and Communications, two Fundraising Managers, a Senior Communications Manager and a Senior Outreach Officer. We are recruiting two roles to the team: a Fundraising Executive and a Fundraising and Communications Assistant.

Fundraising Executive

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Executive to support our fundraising and communications activities and be part of our small and dedicated team. This role is a new post in the team, so it is a great time to join the charity as we invest in our fundraising and communications team to maximise our income and realise our ambitions. 

About You

Having previously worked in the charity sector, you will be passionate about our cause and committed to supporting us in raising the money required to meet our ambitions.

With an eye for detail, strong analytical and organisational skills, you will be able to undertake research on prospective corporate, major, trust and public donors and produce high quality written reports to support funding bids.

Using your ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively, you will support fundraisers by providing them with timely and accurate information and manage a portfolio of smaller trusts and foundations, which will also include stewardship.

Fundraising and Communications Assistant

In this varied and interesting role, you will:

· Manage the receipt, recording and acknowledgement of donations received by the London centre and national fundraising activities, working with other centre staff on the development of administration procedures.

· Ensure the CRM database is kept up to date and support the fundraising team to produce high quality reports.

· Support the Events Manger in the delivery of fundraising and engagement events across the organisation.

· Support the Fundraising Managers in arranging meetings and visits with donors and prospective donors.

· Use digital media strategy tools to generate relevant and varied digital content across chosen channels.

· Create regular communications, reports and updates for fundraisers to tailor for their individual donors.

You will be a self-starter with a desire to make an impact and a connection to James’ Place, you will bring your passion, previous administrative experience and a proactive approach, to enable our fundraising team to be as efficient as possible.  Using your knowledge and understanding of a range of social media platforms and your keen interest in learning about new digital innovations, you will support us in creating digital content across our chosen channels. As well as having our own inhouse Face to Face Fundraising team, we work with circa 4 agencies who provide us with the resource to engage and inspire the public to sign up to monthly donations supporting CRUK. To date, we have generated over £120m from face-to-face fundraising third-party individual giving activity, having a huge impact for our life saving research

As a Face-to-Face Fundraising Manager, you'll be the driving force behind delivering our ambitious fundraising targets in this area, maximising opportunities, working with a range of agencies, stakeholders and your team to deliver our outsourced face to face acquisition programme in the UK, ensuring its success day to day.

You don't need to have worked specifically in the Face-to-Face Fundraising space previously, but you will need to come with experience of managing multiple agency relationships as well as strong stakeholder management skills.

What will I be doing?

• Deliver a face to face fundraising acquisition programme via outsourced partners, in line with agreed strategy and targets.

• Drive the success of the face to face fundraising acquisition programme, ensuring key performance indicators are met, pro-actively looking for opportunities to improve performance, working collaboratively and alongside our outsourced partners in order to do so.

• Ensure appropriate training and compliance monitoring of face to face outsourced partner activity is in place, with timely and appropriate remedial action being taken where needed to ensure Cancer Research UK and industry standards are upheld and an excellent supporter experience is offered.

• Establish, develop and maintain excellent relationships with our suppliers and partners, proactively looking for opportunities to optimise our partnership with outsourced partners, for the benefit of the organisation.

• Lead on the troubleshooting of day to day campaign delivery challenges, acting swiftly to implement workable solutions and ways forward, working closely with the F2F Manager - Outsourced Partners, Individual Giving Operations team, and the relevant stakeholders in order to do so.

• Ensure all operational aspects of campaigns from planning through to execution and analysis are in place and as efficient as possible, putting processes in place to ensure the effective management of campaigns, working with the Individual Giving Operations team and other internal and external stakeholders to achieve this.

• Onboard new suppliers as required, and manage existing relationships through contracts, performance, monitoring compliance and service level agreements, working closely with the Face to Face Manager - Outsourced Partners, in order to do so

What are you looking for?

• Relevant experience of managing agency relationships, contract management, managing performance, meeting or exceeding key performance indicators ( Face to Face agencies would be beneficial but isn't essential)

• Experience of working in a heavily regulated environment and ability to get up to speed with current fundraising regulation

• Relevant experience of planning, delivery and analysis of end to end project activity or campaigns (fundraising or face to face would be beneficial)

• Flexible approach, with an ability to work successfully in a dynamic operating environment

• Proactive approach to problem solving with ability to manage several projects at any one time

• Excellent influencing and negotiation skills - both internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers
