Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. A minimum salary of £39,695.24 gross (our salary base for people resident in the UK) will apply from the beginning of the probationary period. The salary base may change due to your previous experience related to the position, or your experience in animal advocacy (+3% for each year). In addition, the salary increases with your seniority in Open Cages according to the following model:

+ 7% – for every year worked at Open Cages during the first 5 years of work

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as our first employee focussed on operations, you will help lay the foundations of the organisation as it prepares for rapid scaling, not only increasing our impact for animals now but by also helping to shape the organisation we want to become. If you have an engineering mindset, like to organise things (ideally in spreadsheets), and navigate through novel problems, it’s time to use your strengths for animals. Whilst it may sound challenging, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of making a historic change for those who cannot stand up for themselves. To help the billions of animals trapped on factory farms, we need an organisation that is expertly designed and not weighed down by inefficiencies. In this role your first task will be to help us manage, monitor and speed up our internal processes such as accounting, finances, payments, staff operations, donor management and event planning.

Due to the broad scope of our work, there is no simple description of the perfect employee. There may also be certain areas where you are stronger than others, and we are open to fitting the role around you. We are looking for a generalist rather than a specialist. • Conduct research – you will spend many hours online gathering information, working with investigators and lawyers, or delivering 50 chicken products to a lab in Germany (we did this too).
• Create engaging content – you will produce emotive graphics and videos for social media, factual reports and data-driven briefings for journalists and politicians.
• Work with the media – you will engage with journalists, write press releases, and give the odd interview.
• Mobilise advocates – you will write emails to our supporters and motivate them to take action with us. You will also organise and run street actions like protests and stunts.

Campaign and Activism Manager.

Salary: £40,000 per annum. 

Location: Remote (with travel to London for regular meetings). 

Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week.

A bit about the role  

It's an exciting time to join the Influencing team at Action for Children, and we are looking for a creative, collaborative and forward-thinking individual to join our ambitious team.

As Campaigns and Activism Manager, you will be Action for Children's expert in public-facing policy change campaigns and supporter engagement. This is a role that is pivotal to securing positive change for disadvantaged children and young people.

You will be instrumental in managing and overseeing campaigning on our four priority policy areas, project managing campaigns across teams and designing and leading activity that secures mass public support. You will actively involve children and young people and centre their lived experience in our campaigns.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Income & Engagement and Children's Services, to deliver successful campaigns and wider organisation goals.

You'll help to create brighter futures by: 

• Leading the delivery of influential policy change campaigns working with the Influencing team, Fundraising, Digital, Communications, and other colleagues.
• Providing expertise in the theory and practice of campaigning.
• Leading the development of policy change campaigns.
• Leading and delivering Action for Children's supporter engagement.
• Overseeing all campaign communications.
• Ensuring that we keep internal stakeholders engaged and up to speed with our latest campaigns
• Providing professional campaigns support to the Campaigns, Advocacy and Policy Advisors in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Main duties and responsibilities

2. Work with the Associate Head to maximise the opportunities by which the fundraising activity can contribute to the NSPCC’s mission of fighting for every childhood over and above fundraising objectives.

5. Foxglove is a litigation and campaigning nonprofit that exists to make the use of technology fair. When governments and major tech companies use technology to abuse their power, we investigate, litigate and campaign to make it right. 

Big Tech companies have become so large – gobbling up a huge slice of the global marketplace and an unprecedented treasure hoard of user data – that they’re now more powerful than many states. The harmful effects of this concentration of power are everywhere – threats to our democracy, to our privacy, decimated workers’ rights and platforms rife with disinformation and hate. Governments are ploughing ahead with the use of algorithms and mass data systems to cut costs and increase efficiency often resulting in digital tools that entrench unfairness and leave the most vulnerable in society in crisis. All these problems are only getting worse with generative AI.

Foxglove works to bring the rule of law to the tech and AI giants who have upended our public square, workplaces, and social lives. We fight to reduce these anti-democratic behemoths’ size and power and we challenge them for abusing their workers. We also work to ensure public bodies use data and algorithms openly, fairly, and legally. 

We have a strong track record. We’ve launched landmark cases seeking structural changes to big tech’s harmful business models, supported 180+ Facebook content moderators fired for trying to form a union to sue Facebook and their outsourcing company, Sama – winning world-first judgements. We helped launch Africa’s first content moderators' union and are urging UK and EU regulators to halt Big Tech’s maneuvers to hoover up generative AI as it has the rest of our online world. We have forced disclosure of secret contracts between tech giants and the NHS, stopped a racist Home Office visa streaming algorithm, helped make grading fair for UK A level students, forced the government to pause the NHS Data Grab and challenged the Department of Work and Pension’s use of an algorithm unfairly flagging disabled people for benefit fraud investigations.

We are a small but growing team of lawyers, communications experts, and campaigners. Our work is global, and we work in partnership with lawyers, civil society, unions, and impacted people. 

About you

You are an experienced lawyer with a strong interest in using the law to hold governments and companies to account. You understand change doesn’t only take place within the walls of the court and that movements only succeed when they’re inclusive, making as many people as possible see they have a stake in these issues. You are a self-starter with the initiative to find opportunities, but the team-spiritedness to contribute to a shared goal and celebrate others’ work. The role

The post holder will be responsible for managing Foxglove’s legal team and legal work. You will drive forward a range of cases, including the development of case theories, investigating and collecting evidence, drafting correspondence, evidence and submissions. You will also be responsible for coordinating and managing external legal teams. UK and international travel is required.

• Listen to affected communities, unearth issues caused by tech injustice, and come up with innovative legal solutions.

Length and Salary

The role is permanent. The annual salary is £70,075 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

Our team works remotely, and this role can be based anywhere. We would prefer you to work within or close to UK office hours, but this is flexible. Our team travels every two months for team days and twice a year for team retreats. Context and purpose of role

Ramblers walk leadership programme increases the skills and confidence of people from diverse backgrounds to lead walks, enabling more people to benefit from group walks. As a member of the Programmes team, the Programme Lead (Walk Leadership) will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of the programme across GB.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on the design, development and operational delivery of the Walk Leadership programme across GB.
• Create operational delivery plans – to identify milestones, monitor risks, resolve issues and manage resource requirements.
• Design and develop resources and processes to support programme implementation.
• Be responsible for managing a budget in line with programme goals and objectives.
• Be responsible for evaluation and reporting, to ensure the programme meets KPIs and delivers measurable impact.
• Manage new and existing strategic partnerships with partner organisations and those working to reduce barriers to becoming active outdoors.
• Develop a network of walk leader volunteers – ensuring that appropriate systems, processes and support is in place.
• Work with partners to train and support walk leaders, and to promote the programme more widely.

• Directly deliver some Walk Leadership events to support the continued development and co-production of the programme.

We are looking for a Funding Officer to join our team in Wales.  This is a fixed term, full time post until March 2026 (open to a conversation on flexible working and job share) 

Depending on your location and preference, you will be based in either the Cardiff or Newtown office. You are welcome to be based in the office full time, or a combination of home and office working. You will need to travel within Wales to work with community groups and charities, and to other offices across the UK to work with colleagues. 

As a Funding Officer serving our Mid & West Wales region, (Bridgend, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys and Swansea).

• You will assess requests for funding and manage grants using local knowledge, best practice, thematic expertise, and the experience of customers and stakeholders to improve our grant making and inform our decision making. By working closely with people and communities, you will understand what matters to them and where our funding can make the biggest difference.
• You will be responsible for supporting local people and communities in Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot, and have a strong understanding of our vision, being able to adapt your approach to the wishes of the people you are working with.
• You’ll also need to support our stakeholders, helping them to make connections that will help them achieve their goals.
• You will be responsible for the pipeline of projects in Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot, understanding and responding to the different needs of our customers by providing advice and considered feedback, and be willing to have challenging but constructive conversations. Funding Officers will ensure our grant management and assessment play an effective part in contributing to the Fund’s knowledge and learning as a grant maker.
• You will manage your own caseload, liaise with grant recipients, undertake project visits, identify and manage risk, supporting organisations to deliver their projects and measure their impact.
