The Role

These awards equip young people with the skills and behaviours they need to become leaders through the power of music. The Music Leader Level 1 programme has just been launched, signing up over 25 schools as centres set to engage 3,000 young people, with a pipeline of 150 more. The Music Leader Level 2 is set to launch in January 2025.

As the Business Development Executive, your primary focus will be to drive sales growth by building strong partnerships with schools, colleges and other independent training providers nationwide. About the Masonic Charitable Foundation

The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is one of the UK’s leading charities, providing a range of benevolent support to individuals and awarding grants to local and national charities.

Our work helps to encourage opportunity, promote independence and improve wellbeing for thousands of people each year.  Last year, the MCF awarded support totalling around £20 million.  Our support is funded from the donations of freemasons, their families and friends.

The MCF was founded in 2016 following the merger of four charities that had operated separately since the eighteenth century. 

Our Regional Advisers are home-based workers who are compassionate and dedicated to responding to the needs of Freemasons and their dependents in their area, providing essential support. They are professional and accountable, working independently but collaborating with volunteers, colleagues, and local agencies to provide an exceptional service on behalf of the charity.

Their main purpose is to visit and contact members of the Masonic community to determine their needs and to help them to access support from the MCF and other relevant agencies. Support is provided through a combination of home visits, telephone calls, or video calling. 

The role also provides guidance, support and recommendations to office based staff processing applications for our extensive range of grants to support those in need. They form close and effective working relationships with local volunteers, providing support and guidance to extend our reach.

Main responsibilities

• Responding to/visiting freemasons and their dependents to:
  • provide support and advice; and
  • determine relevant support from the MCF or other agencies to meet their needs
• Face-to-face visits, video conferencing and in-depth telephone calls are required to provide extensive and detailed support.
• Production of accurate and comprehensive reports detailing agreed plans and all relevant supporting documents
• Liaising with colleagues within the department to provide guidance and support in processing applications for our extensive range of grants to assist those in need
• Ambassadorial role for MCF, liaising with other stakeholders, delivering occasional presentations and workshops to raise awareness of the role of the Advice, Support and Enquiries Team and support available from the MCF

Engagement Lead Health Inequity

This is an exciting opportunity to work with those affected by stroke and those working in stroke, to focus on the health inequity that stroke survivors experience. We are looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our leadership team in the South West – specifically Bath & North East Somerset.

This is a home based role and applications from individuals who are seeking flexible working options are welcomed.

Position: S11188 Engagement Lead Bath and North East Somerset Health Inequity project

Location: Homebased, Bath and North East Somerset with frequent travel within the Bath and North East Somerset area, however travel will be required outside of this area for team meetings or other work related meetings

Hours: Part-time, 14 hours per week (flexible working available)

Salary: Circa £17,512 per annum (FTE circa £43,700)

Contract: This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months. This project is a time limited piece of work.  We are initially recruiting for a 12-month period, with the possibility at the end to extend.

The Role

The project has recently been through the research and design phase and is now ready to implement a number of tests to address health inequities experienced by Stroke survivors following their stroke. The project exploration and design has taken a collaborative approach with our NHS colleagues, the Engagement Lead will continue with this approach.

Reporting to the Associate Director for the South West & Channel Islands, the Engagement Lead will:

· Lead and oversee the project tests, measuring the impact with an ability to adapt and flex as the project develops.

· Have responsibility for developing the project with a test and learn approach.

· Hold themselves and those involved to agreed timescales & actions.

· Have responsibility for management of the project budget.

· Lead the engagement work with the NHS & those affected by stroke

This role will empower a capable Marketing and Communications Manager who is able to work in a standalone capacity.  You will be designing the marketing and social media campaign strategy and will be the go to expert for the programme  team.  The campaign has a library of amazing content already in place, and there is a modest budget for amendments and further creation. 

Working remotely, you will have lots of interaction with the broader team, and organisation, and your campaign will be receiving National coverage.  You’ll be writing press releases, organising webinars and events and pulling together targeting case studies.  You will be making this campaign your own in many respects.

Background

The European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) is one of the world’s pre-eminent symphony orchestras. An orchestra of dynamism, youthful energy, and passion shaped afresh each year with highly talented musicians from all 27 EU Member States. Recognised across the world for the excellence of its music-making, and for its success in nurturing the careers of generations of young musicians, the EUYO is always at the forefront, anticipating and reacting to the changing world around it, equipping its members for careers in that world and forging change within the classical music and cultural sectors.

For the past half-decade, the statutory public funding won by the EUYO was sufficient to finance its activities. Now, with a new base in Austria, an expanded programme, preparations for its 50th anniversary, and with the challenges of current general global uncertainty, the EUYO wishes to extend its revenue base by reigniting its previously strong tradition in private funding and corporate relationships, beginning with the recruitment of a Head of Development and Philanthropy. The Head of Development and Philanthropy will have responsibility for fundraising from corporates, individuals and trusts and foundations. The responsibility for the EUYO’s statutory public funding from EU, EU member state and local and regional public institutions will continue to be held by the Executive & Artistic Director and the Head of Executive & Finance. 

In order to assist this process, the last year 18 months have been used by the Orchestra to create and put in place new development processes and initial donors, including utilising a skilled volunteer Board level fundraising committee, setting up a cross border tax incentive scheme, creating a new bespoke CRM integrated with the Orchestra’s database, creating a new website support area, initiating new patrons and individuals programmes and the base strategy for a new alumni programme, and recruiting new initial corporate donors. Now, with all of these processes and achievements in place, the EUYO seeks a dynamic entrepreneurial fundraiser to help deliver the Orchestra’s exciting future programme, and over time, to grow a fundraising team as income generation builds.

Purpose of role

The EUYO’s passion, energy and commitment are mirrored by that of its management team, and

we are now seeking an exceptional Head of Development and Philanthropy to join that team. The

successful applicant will start at an exciting and pivotal moment.

Reporting to the Executive and Artistic Director, this role will suit a dynamic, ambitious, collegiate and entrepreneurial individual. Working in close collaboration with colleagues, you will be responsible for shaping the nature of the EUYO’s fundraising. You will help us to effectively cultivate, solicit and steward the EUYO’s current donors and sponsors and identify and bring on board new donors and sponsors, working with a wide and diverse variety of stakeholders and audiences.

Primary responsibilities

Key responsibilities

• Continued delivery of the organisation’s fundraising strategy, alongside the opportunity to also develop, rethink and remould it, all in consultation with the Executive and Artistic Director and with the support of our Fundraising Committee, Board, Advisory Council and key stakeholders across the EU.
• Build on EUYO’s compelling case for support and identify specific projects which align with the EUYO’s strategic plan, and which demonstrate the difference that philanthropy will make in delivering on the mission.
• Work with the Executive and Artistic Director and the Head of Communications and Advocacy to ensure together a cohesive integrated public facing language for the organisation in its communications, balancing the needs of different audiences
• Sustain a range of giving programmes: membership, appeals and major giving opportunities which appeal to donors and can be delivered with available resources.
• Ensure systems for renewal of current supporters and developing a pipeline of future donors, which includes a range of corporates, individuals, and trusts and foundations.
• Work with the Fundraising Committee to develop annual appeals and create a strategic plan for the 50th Anniversary Appeal.
• Work with the finance team to analyse the effectiveness of different fundraising initiatives, manage budgets and support financial reporting.
• Co-ordinate monitoring, evaluation and reporting for all non-funded projects, with EUYO colleagues.
• Regularly circulate information about the EUYO engagements and initiatives to Directors, corporate supporters, and donors.
• Maintain positive working relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.

Governance and finance

• Keep up to date with changes in fundraising regulation and ensure implementation where required.
• Work with the Head of Executive and Finance to set and manage expenditure and report on ROI.  
• Manage quarterly Fundraising Committee meetings in conjunction with the Committee Chair.
• Work with the Fundraising Committee to research new potential committee members.
• Regularly review the Fundraising Policy and associated policies.
• Ensure appropriate fundraising due diligence is completed when appropriate.
• Ensure the EUYO is operating best practice in its fundraising, keeping up to date with any changes in compliance, legislation, and fundraising methodologies.
• Keep up to date on tax matters relating to charitable giving, ensuring the EUYO is maximising income from tax concessions.
• Work with the Communications Team to source suitable donation platforms and software and maintain the EUYO’s fundraising database.
• Work with the Communications Team to manage the fundraising complaints register.

Individual giving

• Build on and develop the current major donor strategy to secure long term support.
• Manage the EUYO’s membership and patron’s programmes with the support of the Communications Team.
• Manage existing donor membership schemes and increase membership year-on-year.
• Research and cultivate a pool of prospective individual donors in conjunction with the Executive and Artistic Director, Trustees and Directors and maintain close relationships with existing donors.
• Build on and develop an annual appeal for individual donors.
• Devise new ways of attracting donors using the EUYO’s website and social media channels, beneficiaries and alumni.

Corporate giving

• Develop a healthy prospect list of companies, both nationally and internationally.
• Develop corporate sponsorship and partnership proposals.
• Work with the Executive and Artistic Director, Fundraising Committee, Board and Advisory Council to cultivate and steward corporate partners.
• Explore the potential of corporate membership and, if implemented, administer and service the Corporate Membership Scheme, maintaining close relationships with the members’ nominated contacts, circulating information, and ensuring that members enjoy the full extent of the benefits.
• Ensure all corporate partners and sponsors receive appropriate reports as required and in a timely manner.

Trusts and foundations

• Develop a pipeline of trusts and foundation prospects, working with the Executive and Artistic Director and the Head of Executive and Finance to develop appropriate resource for this new pipeline of prospects where necessary.
• Research and apply for funding from trusts and foundations.
• Work with the EUYO colleagues to measure impact and outputs from grant funding.
• Monitor delivery progress and ensure reporting according to grant funding requirements.
• Maintain relationships with trusts and foundations who are already giving to the EUYO, keeping them informed of the EUYO’s activities and of the results and benefits generated by their donation.

Profile

• 5-10 years’ experience in fundraising within the arts and cultural sector.

• Experience in producing persuasive fundraising case for support and other fundraising marketing material.

• Proven track record in building relationships and engaging with key stakeholders at all levels.

Who are we at Neighbourhood Watch?

Neighbourhood Watch is a grassroots charitable movement. It is England and Wales's largest crime prevention voluntary movement and has upwards of 2.3 million household members. Schemes are run by volunteers across England and Wales supported by volunteer Associations and Neighbourhood Watch Network, the national umbrella organisation for the movement.

What does the Global Grant Manager, Finance & Operations role involve? 

The Global Grants Manager is a critical role at CPI, primarily focused on enhancing the operational efficiency and financial compliance of our grant funded programmes. Reporting directly to the Acting Global Director of People, Finance, and Operations, this position requires a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in finance and grants management, who will work closely with programmatic teams and partner with stakeholders across the organisation. 

The role will involve working directly with large global funders, as well as directly with sub grantees and suppliers on CPI programmes. This role will also provide overall finance support to our Europe team in collaboration with our Global Senior Associate, Finance and Operations. Our managers have overall responsibilities, obligations and duties around finance, budget performance, and strategic development. They create protocols and policies needed to help with organisational and programmatic delivery. This role will be responsible for receiving and reviewing partner expenditures and reports and preparing consolidated financial reports for donors as well as be accountable for day to day grant management and administration.

As someone whose work will include building relationships with everyone at CPI, you will be responsible for making sure our global teams are set up to succeed and assist in keeping our workplace a great place to work for everyone. This role will largely be focused on our Europe team, however you will support all CPI regions worldwide. 

Key responsibilities include: 

Finance & Accounting

• Support efficient operations in accounts receivable and accounts payable in Europe and other CPI regions where required

• Support donor compliance during reporting by using the right templates and budgetary ceilings as applicable 

• Assist the Finance & Operations team during the month end process to ensure that all balance sheet items are all accounted and reconciled with their respective subsidiary ledgers and/or schedules and all contra or clearance accounts are cleared at the end of every month

• Assist the Finance & Operations team in preparing annual financial plans for effective financial management of the global teams

• Assist the Finance & Operations team in preparing monthly management reports and performing bi-monthly forecasting

• Contracting & Operations

  • Work with global teams in drafting funder, grantee and/or supplier contracts to support the delivery of our programmatic activity

  • Onboarding suppliers into our financial systems and ensuring purchase orders are raised that follow our internal financial policies & procedures

  • Liaise with legal, auditors and other advisors to ensure CPI’s operations in Europe remain legally compliant

  • Work with Finance & Operations team on maintaining and updating risk registers to track key corporate risks and ensure mitigants and financial controls are working as expected

  • Work with the CPIE team to ensure a financial risk assessment is maintained and updated and addressing any suspicions of fraud in line with policy

• Audits

  • Work with the CPIE team and F&O team to ensure programmes are audit ready

  • Coordinate donor audits on assigned programmes

  • Support the team in ensuring that any recommendations and actions resulting from audits are duly actioned and implemented

• Donor & Grants Management

  • Support our project teams to ensure programmes are implemented in line with Donor policies and requirements 

  • Lead the sub granting process for all implementing partners and consortiums in collaboration with the relevant regional/project teams

  • Ensure that the necessary information is documented, tracked and updated on the appropriate financial transaction and reporting tools

  • Lead on the preparations of budget versus actuals to support ongoing grants decision, identify deviations in implementation progress and flag delays/request for support

  • Proactively update Senior leadership on progress, risks and financial status

Who are we looking for? 

The person we’re looking for will:

• Be passionate about CPI’s vision for reimagining government

• Have 4+ years work experience in financial grant administration within the non-profit/charity sector, including managing large transactions.

• Strong understanding of grant regulations, compliance requirements, and financial management principles.

• Proven project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Prior experience using financial transaction, reporting and accounting software is essential, CPI currently uses  Xero and Approval Max so experience of using these tools would be highly desirable . Please note that this is a technical role and these skills are non-negotiable for us.
