The Head of Finance will be a key member of the senior leadership team, supporting the charity in developing and delivering our growth plans. 

Role Mission:

Key Duties:

· Ownership of the finance function.

· Preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flows.

Content generation

· Draft compelling content for our different audiences across a broad suite of communications, particularly for our website, newsletters and materials.

• Support the Head of Communications and Membership and the Communications Lead to implement our Communications Strategy and Social Media Strategy. 
• Design and deliver several communications plans for key global opportunities – for our latest insight/research/tools and for our participation at high-profile events. 
• Take a strategic focus across communications outputs, identifying core audiences and the best messages and approaches to reach those audiences. 
• Oversee funding communications, developing materials and digital communications to resonate with business, foundations and other funders.

Drive efficiency and continuous improvement

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a motivated and compassionate veteran with experience in addiction recovery, mental health services or veteran welfare to help us expand and develop the SMART Veterans Programme in Scotland. You need to have experience of working with vulnerable people, or in supporting the welfare of individuals, ideally military personnel or veterans. Facilitation of meetings, training and group sessions is essential as is your knowledge of the needs veterans have when they leave service. You should have knowledge of best practice in facilitation and possess good presentation skills. Knowledge of what addiction recovery is and how recovery programmes work is important with knowledge of the SMART Recovery 4-point Programme being highly beneficial.

You need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to motivate yourself and others and manage your time efficiently. Self-motivation is crucial as this is a home-based role with lots of virtual meetings. We will also consider a secondment from existing employment elsewhere.

Experience working with or being a volunteer is essential and experience of delivering training would equip you well for the role. The ability to support people with adverse lived experiences in a grounded manner and be able to provide support within professional boundaries is very important. Giving and receiving feedback, gathering data and other evidence to inform service development, and exercising reflective practice are all essential attributes.

The role is home-based, and you will be provided with all office equipment and a travel budget as needed. In order to manage your time and travel effectively you will need to be comfortable forming and developing relationships online, attending and hosting meetings via zoom or MS Teams (this is both business meetings with partner organisations and mutual aid recovery meetings). You will be required to conduct national travel and occasional overnight stays, visiting SMART meetings and facilitators in your area delivering a package of support to facilitators and our partners, helping the charity to grow by helping to generate new business. There are also team development residental trips away with the SMART team every year.

In addition, you will contribute to the global development of SMART Recovery via veteran orientated projects identified by SMART Recovery International. It is essential that you can travel and work flexibly to meet the needs of the role.

BACKGROUND 

The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to 2.7 million* means that one in five children don't have enough to eat.  When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.  

Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.  Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. 

The new UK government’s Children’s Wellbeing Bill outlined in the King’s Speech, includes a requirement for free school breakfast clubs in every English primary school. This is a fantastic start towards ending child morning hunger. Magic Breakfast’s influence will be instrumental to ensuring school breakfasts are introduced in a way that is hunger-focused and barrier free. In 2021, the Scottish Government, pledged a not yet enacted promise to provide breakfast to primary children. 

Thousands of secondary school children are at risk of losing their free school breakfasts from September next year. For many of these students, this is their only opportunity to have a nutritious meal before facing a demanding school day, including taking exams. 

Solutions across all UK nations are currently either not yet actioned or are severely underserving the current need. JOB PURPOSE 

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Manager is to support us to deliver on this mission through influencing governments to address child morning hunger and the underlying systemic causes, in order to give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential. 

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping policy initiatives and influencing decision makers across Westminster and Whitehall. Specifically, you will help ensure the new Early Adopters Programme – the government’s pilot breakfast scheme in England – is hunger-focused and puts children and young people at its centre. This in turn, will inform the national rollout of primary school breakfast provision across England from September 2026 – a policy which you will also work to influence. In tandem, you will be responsible for informing and shaping how breakfast is included and positioned in the Children’s Wellbeing Bill.

More widely, you will keep abreast of political developments relevant to Magic Breakfast, identifying opportunities to respond, influence and shape the debate. You will be able to put complex policy ideas across in simple and effective terms both in person and through reports and briefings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and lead Magic Breakfast’s influencing strategy to shape and inform school breakfasts within the Children’s Wellbeing Bill 

• Engage thoroughly in the legislative process to shape how breakfast is positioned, to ensure the law protects and supports children and young people at risk of hunger 

• Influence and shape the scope of the Early Adopter’s Programme to inform long-term school breakfast policy across England 

• Work with ministers, politicians, civil servants and advisors to help shape the national rollout of school breakfasts across England

General Function:

The Business Officer will work for the Europe & Eurasia Programme Management Unit (PMU) and will provide the highest standards of financial and administrative support to European funded Internews EE Programmes. We are looking for a responsible and professional individual to perform a variety of financial and administrative tasks. Duties of the Business Officer will include the financial administration of current projects, oversight of project budgets and partner spending, facilitation of payment requests, budgetary projections and other financial and administrative duties that may be required during this period.

The Business Officer will work closely with the Senior Programme Officer, the Senior Business Associate and the Programme Finance Business Partner to provide timely and quality support to programmes as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial administration of Internews’s projects:

• Review project expenditure and ensure accuracy of coding.
• Manage cash-flow to ensure the availability of project funds at Internews’ offices.
• Work with Programme Finance Business Partners (PFBPs) to prepare financial reports for donors, prepare notes for financial reports, and ensure that costs are reported in compliance with donor requirements.
• Monitor co-financing plans.
• Advise project teams on the correct application of HQ policies and processes, including on procurement, travel, etc.

Budget oversight:

• Review budget-versus-actuals and facilitate forecasting in line with project activities.
• Support partners with budget planning.
• Align internal templates to donor formats for effective monitoring and reporting.
• Sub-grants oversight and keeping SGA (Sub-Grant Agreements) tracker:
• Support Internews’ partners to prepare budgets under sub-grant agreements.

• Review and verify suppliers’ invoices to London HQ and Internews’ accounting department in California.

• Budget development: work closely with Senior Programme Officer, Senior Business Associate and country offices to develop budgets for new proposals. Coordinate on the development of co-financing approaches and plans for opportunities with the European Commission and other European donors.
• Help set up business processes for new projects, including the preparation of requests for Personal Service Contracts.
• Support the process of staff contracting for projects.

Requirements:

• Relevant degree (preferable) in Accounting, Business Administration or Financial management.

The post-holder will report directly to the COO for Internews Europe. The post-holder will be a leader on matters of corporate financial strategy, inter-Alliance financial accounting, budget management, and overall accounting operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to drive systems and process improvements in corporate financial management and planning, whilst also ensuring the smooth running of the financial service centre of the organisation.

The Finance Director is a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) in London, in addition to other international management units.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Key Strategic Deliverables will include the following:

· Lead on strategic financial management of Internews Europe, promoting effective and efficient processes to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organisation.

· Oversee and deliver on the statutory audit and delivery of the Annual Report and Accounts in line with UK charity requirements.

· Act as the focal point in all financial matters for the Internews Board of Trustees, Finance and Audit subcommittee and the Senior Management Team (SMT)

· Co-ordination of the annual organisational budget preparation process and ensure effective budget oversight and management by project and department managers

· Promote strong collaboration with colleagues from Grants and Contracts and Development Teams to reforecast and test progress towards annual targets for income and expenditure.

· Ensuring professional and compliant delivery of all Internews Europe financial processes, to drive improvements in processes and ensure all staff understand and adopt such processes

Finance Department operations Specific duties with support from the Finance Team will include the following:

· Management of the Finance Team, providing effective leadership and creating an environment where Finance staff can learn and develop professionally

· Oversight of core accounting processes including cash-flow planning and management, accounts payable and receivable, and analysis of the balance sheet debtors and creditors

· Management of the relationship for resource sharing and associated accounting transactions arising with the other entities in the Alliance network to facilitate combined management/programmatic reporting when required, while ensuring sufficient financial controls to ensure distinct financial reporting and protection of separate legal entity status.

· Oversight of international banking processes (GBP and foreign currency, income and payments) and Treasury management to minimise organisational risk and negative foreign exchange valuations.

· Primary holder of the Banking relationship, including monitoring banking arrangements in international offices

· Co-ordinate the monthly payroll process with HR colleagues and the external payroll bureau

Oversight of subsidiary financial processes

· Currently Internews Europe has two subsidiaries, Internews International (II) based in France and Internews Media Development based in Ireland, currently dormant.

· Oversight of financial processes including relevant controls, policies and procedures

· Oversight of financial reporting in accordance with relevant GAAP and regulatory requirements.

· Monitor local regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with relevant tax and reporting and audit requirements

Key Stakeholder Engagement and Compliance

· Primary advisor to SMT of ramifications of strategic decisions, including financial, tax and other regulatory impacts

· Input to strategic development initiatives regarding appropriate application of donor funding mechanisms and utilization of subsidiaries.

· Ensure compliance with the UK regulatory regime and with the requirements of our principal funders and other supporters

· Lead responsibility for ensuring the maintenance and regular review of all statutory and best practice policies and procedures, staff training and socialization of changes

· Assisting the Programme teams with interpretation of donor compliance requirements, their translation into Internews Europe operational and/or financial procedures, and their effective implementation

About the job

In this temporary position, the Program Officer will fill a unique, multi-faceted role that offers the opportunity to leverage their program management experience to help lead a complex global coalition at the intersection of human rights and technology. This is a temporary position, maternity leave cover, with an expected end date of April 15, 2026. This position will support a global Internet freedom initiative that will support local civil society, independent media, and human rights defenders to better prevent and respond to digital repression in their own contexts, particularly in repressive contexts. The activity focuses on building long-term, local resilience among civil society through a networked approach involving global, regional, and local actors. The activity provides technical assistance on digital security, digital governance advocacy and engagement, censorship circumvention, and holistic legal, psychosocial, and physical security support.

Under the guidance of the Deputy Chief of Party and in coordination with the larger project team (including the Advisors and Chief of Party), the Program Officer will oversee the implementation of activities, ensuring strong coordination with other project objectives, and compliance with USAID and Internews policies. The Program Officer will work closely with project partners, support internal coordination efforts, and be responsible for effectively sharing the impact and successes of the program. Further, the Program Officer will support, when needed, the business development, start up and oversight of related Associate Awards and Buy-Ins.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:

Program/Project Management:

• Provide project management and program implementation oversight, strategic planning, analysis, personnel, grants, procurement and finance tasks as needed.
• Serve as primary point of contact for regional and local partners
• Assist in the development of team systems, norms and practices.
• Supervise at least one (1) full-time staff, including assigning work, approving timesheets and managing their workload (as needed).
• Cultivate and strengthen relationships with international, regional and local partner organizations and ensure that implementation is responsive to the needs of partners and beneficiaries.
• Support the MEL Specialist and the MEL Partner in developing and implementing strong MEL frameworks and activities, ensuring that all project partners understand MEL requirements.
• Support the development of Associate Award and Buy-In proposals, project start-up and ongoing coordination; ensuring (when needed) that project staff are onboarded, existing processes and approaches are shared, and regular communication occurs across all relevant teams.

Administration & Finance:

• Manage the implementation, communication and programmatic oversight of all subgrants (PASS and HQ managed) issued under Civic DEFENDERS. This includes reviewing the prospective grantee applications, program and design, budget negotiations, payments and partner reporting.
• Ensure all funder approval request packages are complete and ready to be sent by the COP/DCOP.
• Oversee all administrative aspects of the Civic DEFENDERS digital governance activities, in coordination with the COP, DCOP and Business Management team.
• In coordination with the Business Management team, ensure program implementation complies with funder requirements and Internews’ policies and procedures.
• Oversee the implementation of personal service contracts, outside service contracts and simple service contracts.
• Support COP, DCOP and Advisors in ensuring that timelines are met, deliverables and approvals tracked.
• Support hiring efforts for project staff and consultants, including ensuring effective onboarding.

Writing & Research:

• Support the writing and compiling of program reporting, including quarterly reports and annual workplans, ensuring the final product sent for DCOP/COP review is complete and timely.
• Review and respond to work products from partners, as needed.
• Support internal and external communications, including website, 2-pagers, summaries, etc.
• Represent team and Internews at events, as needed.
• In all duties, uphold Internews’ Core Values and demonstrate commitment to fostering a culture of belonging.

The Role

The team are determined to increase the prominence of legacies both internally and externally in order to grow and protect this important income stream, which accounts for over half of donated income.

Job Overview

• Responsible for developing and delivering all fundraising events with the support of the Fundraising Events Manager
• Ensure that all event participants - virtual or physical have an exceptional experience to maximise income and are placed at the heart of everything that we do.

About Trauma Treatment International

Trauma Treatment International (TTI) is a registered charity in the UK. Our focus and expertise is in providing evidence-based psychological treatment and support to survivors of collective violence*, internationally. We provide direct psychological assessment, formulations and treatment to survivors of torture, trafficking, slavery and war, and organisational support (organisational reviews, training, reflective practice and consultation) to human rights organisations that share our aims (of reducing collective violence and/ or support people affected by collective violence) to mitigate the impact of trauma exposure on the workforce, and assist in sustaining the important work they undertake. 

TTI was founded in 2017 and has grown significantly in the last few years. How much time will I need to give?

We like to develop sustainable relationships with consistent, skilled and reliable associates who we know well. As a small charity, our need for input from our associates will change dynamically based on funding and projects we are undertaking. This means that whilst at times we might have a low need for input from you, at other times we might request more.

We understand that our Specialist Associates will likely have other work and life-demands that mean that what they can offer may also change over time. We make sure that we have regular contact so that our Clinical Lead understands what your time commitment is and can maximise your skills, interests and availability (whether this is a few hours a year, a month or a week) to match our needs as an organisation.

This is a 16 hour a week role which would be perfect for someone looking for a flexible job that makes a big social justice impact. Head of Fundraising and Communications

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced fundraiser to join the our client as their new Head of Fundraising and Communications. This is a permanent, full time role that will really influence and shape the organisation in developing a sustainable future. This role will be fully remote, with some travel into London required 6-8 times a year and the candidate will need a full UK right to work.

In this senior and strategic role, you will play a key part in driving the charity’s fundraising efforts across a variety of income streams, including corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and individual giving. With responsibility for achieving six-figure targets, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of an organisation dedicated to empowering girls and young women across the UK.

In this highly influential position, you will manage a small, talented team and take ownership of the charity's fundraising strategy. You will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and grant-making trusts, ensuring long-term financial sustainability for the charity. Your experience in fundraising, alongside your ability to inspire and lead a team, will be critical to the success of the organisation's ambitious goals. Some level of experience in communications would also be ideal, as you will post on socials and analyse audience reach and metrics.
