The Role 
 
As our Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will identify and approach businesses that wish to support a Yorkshire charity and contribute to the advancement of worldwide research to find cures for cancer. You will build strong, ongoing partnerships with businesses and their employees based upon a mutual desire to help each other meet goals and objectives 

Supporting the Head of Fundraising, you will develop Yorkshire Cancer Research’s portfolio of business partnerships and deliver exceptional levels of tailored engagement and stewardship.   

Specifically, you will: 

• Build an in-depth knowledge and understanding of businesses motivations and requirements of a charity partner. Translate these insights into compelling and attractive offers for potential charity partners.

• Work with colleagues across the charity (e.g. in the marketing and the events teams) to create offers that can be clearly and convincingly presented to businesses (e.g. Corporate Social Responsibility fulfilment, charity of the year, employee talks about cancer, team-building fundraising events, support for cancer awareness months and payroll giving). 

• Oversee the delivery of events and campaigns, ensuring the needs and expectations of businesses are properly understood by internal stakeholders and can be achieved. 

• Research Yorkshire businesses to identify those (target organisations) that share the charity’s values and ethos, then approach these organisations to develop a pipeline of partners with the potential to form lasting, mutually beneficial relationships. 

• Meet with leaders of target organisations to listen to what they require of a charity partner and establish whether Yorkshire Cancer Research can fulfil their needs.  

• Develop high quality proposals and plans to support business partners with activities that will appeal to them based upon their needs and specify the support Yorkshire Cancer Research expects so that the partnership will prove mutually beneficial. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or 
  proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level. 

• To have experience of relationship-building, preferably with senior business leaders. 

• To have experience of planned and delivered activities and events for third parties. 

• To have experience of working collaboratively and effectively in a matrix-management organisation. 

• To have experience of listening to customers to understand their pain points and needs and developing manageable and profitable solutions to address their needs. 

• To have experience of working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser’s Edge). 

• To have excellent customer service delivery. 

• To have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and ongoing partnerships. 

• To be happy to work independently and ask for support where it is needed. Also likes to work with, and support, colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.

This is a fundamental role within our West regional team, internally the role is known as Local Community Officer.

The Churches Conservation Trust works with communities to look after 357 historic churches, over two million visitors annually and hundreds of events both private and public.

These ancient, listed sites are among the most beautiful locations in England.

You’ll be visiting sites in your patch regularly, encouraging new supporters, holding local meetings, and raising funds to meet each building’s unique needs. Sharing progress through a growing church plan for each of the 22 churches in your area, you’ll ensure these buildings thrive as beautifully maintained visitor attractions, as venues for events and as central parts of village, town or city life.

You’ll be supported by our team of experts, including fundraising, conservation, and learning and by our large network of church supporters.

The Role 
 
As our Policy Officer you will use the latest evidence and insight to drive the creation of policies and position statements and related key messages. The subject of these will be informed by the charity’s strategy as well as our priority setting processes but will largely be focused around: 

• Prevention - Reducing smoking rates particularly focusing on people who are already interacting with the health system, as well as other messaging around reducing risk of cancer. 

• Diagnosis - Improving the early diagnosis of cancer through promoting existing and new pathways for cancer diagnosis.

• Treatment - Improving treatments available to patients across Yorkshire and improving access to clinical trials. 

Specifically, you will: 

Policy development 

• Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to research and produce high quality, evidence-based cancer-related policies and position statements.

• Work with relevant internal teams to create key messages for a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring these are in line with the latest evidence. 

• Ensure existing policies and position statements are kept up to date, taking ownership for these updates when new evidence is published. 

Influencing 

• Develop written policy materials and reports to aid influencing, considering priorities identified by PPI groups, the NHS, and coupled with insights from the latest data. 

• Support the charity’s response to regional and national consultations relevant to cancer in Yorkshire, ensuring responses are clear, succinct and evidence-based.

• Represent the charity at external events and meetings, developing contacts, building relationships and increasing the charity’s profile. 

External communications 

• Work in collaboration with the Brand and Relationships team to support the delivery of public-facing brand and PR campaigns and messaging to ensure key policy messages are accurate and well-integrated.

• Support idea generation, development and delivery of future public health campaigns where the focus could be on topics like screening, stopping smoking or cancer symptom awareness. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a degree in a relevant subject area, for example politics and government affairs, public policy etc.  

• To have experience of researching and writing evidence-based policies, including by conducting literature reviews.

• To have experience of writing associated policy documentation such as briefings, letters, blogs and campaign materials.

• To have experience of working with others to integrate key messages into external communications, such as blogs, press releases or campaigns. 

• To have a good understanding of a good understanding of local, regional, and national government, the current health policy landscape as well as knowledge of UK parliamentary processes.

• To be a strategic thinker with strong analytical, judgement and decision-making skills.

About the Masonic Charitable Foundation

The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is one of the UK’s leading charities, providing a range of benevolent support to individuals and awarding grants to local and national charities.

Our work helps to encourage opportunity, promote independence and improve wellbeing for thousands of people each year.  Last year, the MCF awarded support totalling around £20 million.  Our support is funded from the donations of freemasons, their families and friends.

The MCF was founded in 2016 following the merger of four charities that had operated separately since the eighteenth century. 

Our Regional Advisers are home-based workers who are compassionate and dedicated to responding to the needs of Freemasons and their dependents in their area, providing essential support. They are professional and accountable, working independently but collaborating with volunteers, colleagues, and local agencies to provide an exceptional service on behalf of the charity.

Their main purpose is to visit and contact members of the Masonic community to determine their needs and to help them to access support from the MCF and other relevant agencies. Support is provided through a combination of home visits, telephone calls, or video calling. 

The role also provides guidance, support and recommendations to office based staff processing applications for our extensive range of grants to support those in need. They form close and effective working relationships with local volunteers, providing support and guidance to extend our reach.

Main responsibilities

• Responding to/visiting freemasons and their dependents to:
  • provide support and advice; and
  • determine relevant support from the MCF or other agencies to meet their needs
• Face-to-face visits, video conferencing and in-depth telephone calls are required to provide extensive and detailed support.
• Production of accurate and comprehensive reports detailing agreed plans and all relevant supporting documents
• Liaising with colleagues within the department to provide guidance and support in processing applications for our extensive range of grants to assist those in need

• Work with the board to shape EmpathyLab’s strategic direction and oversee the development of its programmes

The Role 
 
As our Individual Giving Officer, you will help to develop and implement the charity’s individual giving strategy.

Supporting the Individual Giving Manager, you will be the main point of contact and manage the day-to-day relationships with external face-to-face fundraising partners, who represent Yorkshire Cancer Research at private sites (e.g. supermarkets) and by going door-to-door to raise awareness of the work of the charity and encourage individuals to make regular gifts. You will be involved in all aspects of building and maintaining fundraising partner relationships.  

Specifically, you will: 

Support the charity’s face-to-face fundraising activities: 

• Work with the Marketing Team and face-to-face partners to build a range of marketing propositions that create memorable conversations and increase the likelihood of individuals deciding to sign up to give a regular donation. 

• Co-ordinate and facilitate training and engagement activity for new and current face-to-face fundraisers to keep them informed of and inspired by the latest developments at the charity. 

• Ensure face-to-face fundraisers have appropriate collateral and that all equipment and materials are kept up to date and are engaging for potential supporters. 

• Ensure face-to-face fundraisers represent Yorkshire Cancer Research in a way that aligns with the charity’s brand values and key messages. 

Create campaigns, supporter journeys and develop onward stewardship: 

• With the support of the Individual Giving Manager, lead individual giving fundraising campaigns and help to develop new campaign propositions that will attract and retain supporters. 

• Work with the Individual Giving Manager and Supporter Engagement Team to develop and implement supporter journeys from beginning to end for newly acquired regular donors and other key supporter groups, aiming to increase levels of affinity with the charity and encourage life-time commitment.

• In conjunction with the Supporter Engagement Team, regularly review fulfilment communications to all our individual giving supporters, ensuring they are compelling, accurate and fit for purpose. 

Be responsible for data management and reporting: 

• Analyse campaigns and activity, including monthly reviews of key performance indicators, to provide insights and inform future decisions. 

• Use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to maintain accurate records, for data segmentation and for income and other KPI reporting purposes to ensure the effective management of all individual giving activities. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level. 

• To have experience of individual giving and/or new donor acquisition within the charity sector or similar customer service experience in another sector.

Engagement Lead Health Inequity

This is an exciting opportunity to work with those affected by stroke and those working in stroke, to focus on the health inequity that stroke survivors experience. We are looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our leadership team in the South West – specifically Bath & North East Somerset.

The project has recently been through the research and design phase and is now ready to implement a number of tests to address health inequities experienced by Stroke survivors following their stroke. The project exploration and design has taken a collaborative approach with our NHS colleagues, the Engagement Lead will continue with this approach.
