We are the regulator for the optical professions in the UK. Our purpose is to protect the public by promoting high standards of education, performance and conduct.
About the Hearings Panel
The Hearings Panel’s work relates to our Fitness to Practise functions. The Panel consists of around 70 members, lay (non-registrant) and registrant, from whom members of our Fitness to Practise Committees (FtPCs) and Registration Appeals Committees (RACs) are drawn. As a lay chair member of our Hearings Panel, you will chair either FtPCs or RACs.
You do not have to be a legally qualified individual or have specialist medical knowledge for this role. We are looking for individuals who can chair meetings effectively and impartially, ensure that allegations are considered fairly and independently, and that standards are maintained for registrants and the protection of the public.
A FtPC considers whether a registrant’s fitness to practise is impaired and imposes sanctions if appropriate to do so. This includes considering allegations, hearing evidence, and determining the fitness to practise, train or carry on business of our registrants.
A FtPC also determines whether it is necessary for interim measures (suspension or conditions) to be put in place whilst an investigation is in progress for the protection of members of the public or in the interests of a registrant.
A RAC considers an appeal against a decision by our Registrar to refuse to enter or restore an individual or business to the appropriate register; and applications for restoration by former registrants who have been erased by the FtPC.

Remuneration and time commitment
This role requires a commitment of approximately 16-20 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings. Meetings will usually take place via MS teams, but on occasion may be held at our offices in Central London.
A daily fee of £372 is paid in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule, and expenses can also be claimed.

The Role
This is an exciting role within a critical area of FILE, building our evidence base on impact and using it to support learning with a range of stakeholders. The Impact & Learning team at FILE is responsible for generating evidence and learning, enabling FILE and its partners to be as impactful as possible.
As a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist, you will be part of a small and integrated team providing support across a broad portfolio of work.
This involves collating and analysing data, creating and facilitating learning processes within FILE and with our funded partners, and ensuring evidence and insights are fed back into our strategies and those of our partners.
This team works closely with all functions across the wider organisation.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform tasks related to the collection and analysis of data as well as learning from evidence regarding FILE’s activities. This position will primarily focus on supporting four key areas:
- Monitoring: enabling and supporting the collection of robust and consistent data from partners to support their progress towards impact
- Data management: partner data collation and verification from different data sources
- Donor and Board reporting: preparation and presentation of data and evidence for our donors and board to demonstrate our progress towards impact
- Learning: enable learning at all levels of the organisation through designing and delivering learning processes with FILE staff and partners
To achieve this, you will:
- Support our portfolio and grants team in monitoring and reviewing grant documentation in line with FILE’s results framework including providing grant assessments.
- Review and verify partner reports, providing summaries for internal portfolio, executive teams and FILE’s auditing.
- Monitor progress of individual grants and portfolios including data extraction in line with FILE’s Results Framework and Case Database
- Maintain and refine as required, data collection and management tools including partner reporting templates in collaboration with our grant management team.
- Summarise relevant data for inclusion in our 6 monthly donor reports and quarterly updates for our Board and Senior Leadership Team.
- Support our Impact and Learning Manager to coordinate strategic inputs from portfolio teams relating to progress and results for inclusion in donor reports.
- Support our Impact and Learning Manager with the development and facilitation of webinars and learning sessions for FILE’s key audiences.
- Prepare and share relevant data in a compelling format bi-annual learning processes with FILE portfolio teams.
- Support our Impact and Learning Manager with the creation of new templates and methods for showcasing impact and results across a wide range of audiences.
About you

- Facilitation skills – in person and online, including designing sessions and processes which focus on learning outcomes for participants
- Experience of collecting qualitative and quantitative data using different tools and templates including desktop research and semi-structured interview
- Data visualisation skills using different platforms and tools to clearly and compellingly communicate data
- Good quantitative data management and analysis skills including use of MS databases (Excel, Access) or other similar tools
- Competent in translating technical information into reports or knowledge products for different audiences
- Well-developed project management skills
- Philanthropic experience an advantage but not a requirement

About the role
We are looking for someone with experience in facilities and contract management, and the drive and desire to find solutions and complete projects to a high standard. You’ll need to be highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to multi task. You must be a compelling advocate for the work of the Trust.
This role manages the Trust’s office facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean and support a positive working environment for staff and volunteers. The post holder will manage contracts, striving to secure competitive prices, support with IT alongside the Trust's IT service provider, and identify and coordinate improvements to the Trust buildings. This role also manages the Business Support Officer.
The Facilities Manager role is for a 10 month fixed-term maternity cover with the possibility of an extension. We would consider between 30-37.5 hours per week, worked across 4 or 5 days. Other options may be considered for the right candidate.

About the Role
The Development Administrator is a permanent hybrid role with a salary c£25,550. You will play a vital administrative role, supporting the team in a wide range of activities including assisting with detailed prospect research, excellent donor stewardship, and providing essential logistical and administrative support. Your International Finance Manager Day to day will include:

Summary of the role:
The CRM Project Manager will oversee the successful implementation and enhancement of the organisation’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

They are now looking to welcome on board a Private Client Manager to manage a portfolio of high net worth individuals, building strong relationships and educating clients on the work their charity partners are doing. Reporting to the Senior Private Client Manager, you will primarily be responsible for the account management of major gift donors seeking assistance in their philanthropic endeavours. When developing new business, you will explain and sell the charitable services to individuals, grantees and business leaders against sales objectives, which are financial, activity and behavioural based. The Private Client Manager will also be responsible for updating the Board and management committee on business development progress and account management highlights.

Butterfly Conservation is incredibly lucky to have thousands of volunteers who play a critical role in our work, and we want to give them the support they deserve. At the same time, we need to take steps to ensure we have the right volunteer in the right place to deliver our ambitious organisational goals.
We are looking for a Volunteer Development Officer to help us improve the support we offer our existing volunteers, whilst also seeking to increase the diversity of our volunteer supporter base. You will be passionate about helping people to take action for the environment, highly organised and comfortable with both managing routine tasks as well as developing new initiatives.
You will assist in achieving Butterfly Conservation’s Volunteering strategic goals, with a specific emphasis on recruiting, training, communicating with, and celebrating volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, you will aim to inspire and empower more individuals to take action for butterflies and moths.
This is a remote working role, with occasional travel within the UK as required. You will need to be self-motivated, well organised and able to work independently, as part of a virtual team, and under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.

This role is at the forefront of what we do as an organisation. You will be working across Gloucestershire or Heerfordshire or South Gloucestershire , visiting people in their own homes and giving advice at community events.
This role is home-based but requires extensive travel within the area. It can be either full or part time.
As a Community-based Energy Adviser, you will focus on supporting and educating individuals and families who face barriers to accessing energy services and may be in fuel poverty. You will be working with people in their homes or advising them at events in their local community. You will support them through the process of managing and reducing debt, accessing funding and engaging with smart technology.
This can be a demanding role – some of your clients will be facing huge challenges – but it is extremely rewarding and you will be making a measurable difference to people’s quality of life. You will give at-risk consumers the knowledge and confidence to be more engaged in their energy use and able to make sound decisions to manage it — ultimately putting money back in their pockets and improving their resilience and wellbeing. You will be a positive, intuitive and caring ally, empowering people who are overwhelmed by the world of energy and who may be facing multiple economic and societal challenges.

The role
We are seeking a dynamic and efficient Events Manager to deliver a world-class and sector-leading portfolio of annual events to support LSHTM’s Strategy to both internal and external audiences. Events are diverse and include graduation ceremonies for students, conferences and lectures for academics, policymakers and funders, as well as internal community social events. Working within the Communications & Engagement department, the events team provide best practice guidance to others across LSHTM arranging events through a toolkit.
Who we’re looking for
You should have proven experience in event management, including the coordination of staff and financial resources. You must have excellent organisational skills with ability to multi-tasking to deliver a varied portfolio of events with impact. They will need an exceptional eye for detail, a collaborative and flexible approach with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
