The Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) is recruiting a Policy Projects Officer to provide support to our research, engagement and consultative activities.
The role
We are on a mission to place ethics at the centre of decisions regarding biomedicine and health so that we all benefit. In this new role, your main focus will be working across the team to provide administrative support and assistance with our research, engagement and consultative activities and the organising of events.
The role will mainly be based in the Research and Policy directorate with a particular focus on assisting with two projects: a genomics stakeholder network and deliberative research on the 14-day rule for embryo research.
With regard to the genomics network, you will support a network of stakeholders and the organisation of a series of workshops to prioritise areas of ethical and regulatory uncertainty and facilitate knowledge exchange. You will also support with desk-based research and stakeholder engagement which aims to develop good practice in the area.
In relation to providing project on embryo research and the 14-day rule, you will be expected to support the organisation of workshops and events and support colleagues leading the research and engagement workstreams.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with interest in policy and the high-profile area of bioethics, supporting our ambitious policy-influencing agenda.
About you
You will have some experience of working in a policy or research (or similar) setting, ideally related to health, biological sciences or law/regulation. Knowledge and understanding of bioethical issues would also be particularly welcome.
You will be able to provide excellent project support across the team, be able to quickly acquire news skills and knowledge and have the ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely. You will also have excellent administrative and organisational skills, particularly in the context of supporting projects and organising workshops and events.

What will I be doing?
Manage a portfolio of up to 100 individuals and families as well as some corporate prospects with a primary focus on identifying and qualifying prospects and developing the engagement and stewardship of prospects through the full life cycle of giving and renewal. Ensure consistent pipeline movement and contribution of prospects both through their giving as well as helping to build the Crick's donor pipeline.
Work closely with CRUK Philanthropy Services for creative and operational support to identify, engage, and steward Crick donors.
Achieve agreed fundraising income and prospect cultivation targets and provide regular reporting and metrics against goals.
Partner with the CRUK and Crick Leadership, Chairman, Trustees, as well as scientists, Philanthropy colleagues to develop and implement strategies for gifts of £1M+; help the development and supporting the management of volunteer leaders committed to advancing Crick philanthropy; guide discussions with senior leadership on prospect strategy.
Own, develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; including academics and researchers, institutional leaders, volunteer leaders, and writing briefings and coordinating engagement that will lead to gifts.
Support the Associate Director of Philanthropy (Crick) to develop and implement the Crick Campaign including case for support, engaging and influencing leaders to identify priority projects and gift opportunities to maximise income generation.
Develop a strong working knowledge of the work and science at the Crick and broad knowledge of the work of CRUK. Work closely with internal colleagues to coordinate engagement with Crick scientists and leadership to develop proposals and propositions.

Stewardship
- Monitoring the fundraising inbox, acting as a first point of contact for a wide range of supporters and enquirers.
- Developing individual giving income through enhanced communications, great stewardship and supporting on fundraising appeals.

- Completing thanking processes efficiently for donations.
- Developing and managing tools and resources to support fundraising events such as sending out t-shirts, posters, flyers, donation boxes and fundraising packs when requested.
- Liaising with the communications team to create promotional materials to advertise events through the website and social media channels to increase engagement.
Administration
- Keeping accurate records of all prospect and supporter interactions on our CRM system, Raisers Edge NXT.
- Optimising fundraising and donation opportunities at key charity events, researching and recording information.
- Supporting the Fundraising and Development Manager as and when needed.

The team was created in order to have trained, skilled staff ready to cover gaps in service and
facilitate the continued smooth running of services, proactively supporting women and children who
have experienced domestic abuse. They are required to go into different teams and quickly
establish themselves and provide support in times where staff teams may be struggling.
About the Role
In all services, peri workers provide nonjudgmental, confidential, and psychologically-informed
support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. Typical tasks include risk assessment, safety
planning, and working with survivors to develop individual support plans. Other roles require
house management, outreach and health and safety tasks.
Peri workers have the opportunity to work in a variety of roles across Solace’s services. Working
across departments offers peri workers the ability to continually develop their knowledge,
casework skills, advocacy skills, multi-agency working, and ability to manage and thrive in a
changing environment.
The role will involve commuting to sites across London, and although hybrid working may be
available in some projects it is not possible for all. Travel is taken into consideration when
confirming placements, however you should be prepared for longer commutes.
This role in certain placements will require you to work a rota including weekend hours between
8am – 8pm.

Purpose: To advance Ceasefire’s new strategy by developing donor support for civilian rights programmes based in conflict-affected countries, including in the Middle East, Africa and Ukraine.
Responsibilities:
1. Donor research and development
To research, identify and nurture potential donors, including in the human rights, development and humanitarian sectors by:
· Monitoring open calls for proposals
· Identifying and developing potential donors, including outside of formal calls for proposals
· Expanding Ceasefire’s pool of existing project donors.
2. Programme design and proposal writing
In consultation with Ceasefire colleagues and new and existing civil society partners, to design new programmes to advance Ceasefire’s strategy and to prepare concept notes, full proposals and budgets for submission to donors.
3. Donor and supporter relations
To manage regular communications with donors and supporters, including communications on programme outputs, achievements and impact.
4. Oversight/management of specific programmes
To manage or oversee the implementation of specific projects or programmes as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Education:
First degree in a relevant subject, such as international relations, development, law, politics/sociology.
Desirable: knowledge of international humanitarian law (law of armed conflict) and/or international human rights law.
Experience:
Essential: Three years of professional experience working with or for donors in the international development, humanitarian or human rights sectors.
Desirable: Professional experience working in an international environment. Experience/understanding of working with civil society in challenging environments.
Skills:
Programme design: practical understanding of the programme life cycle and demonstrated experience in designing projects according to logical framework or other planning tool(s).
Proposal writing: ability to write clear and persuasive programme proposals, based on logical programme designs and Ceasefire’s existing policies.

We are looking for people to join the dynamic and friendly Rent Service Team in Admin Assistants roles. This busy team processes Housing Benefit payments from 55 local authorities in the UK for up to 4000 St Mungo’s residents; and plays a key role in the organisation to support clients to rebuild their lives.
In this role you will:
- Support the team to ensure the rent accounting system contains up to date information on all tenant’s account(s), and properties.
- Record all payment receipts through the effective processing of Housing Benefit and individual payments received through Allpay, and other sources.
- To work with the Rent Service Coordinator to improve monitoring of rent accounts and provide admin support to the Rent Services Team.
In this role you will be required to work for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.
