Job description

We are looking for a Peer Researcher to expand upon key findings from a recent survey on local LGBTQIA+ community experiences of stigma and barriers to mental health care access. These will then be refined to make recommendations to South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust for the provision of inclusive, early-intervention mental health care.

Working within a small research team, you will draw together the experiences of mental health services from people within LGBTQIA+ communities in Lambeth and Southwark with peer-led interviews and focus groups. Final recommendations will be validated through a co-produced follow up survey. The project will be led by an experienced Research Associate who will underpin high standards of research, offering training and support with interviews, focus groups and survey data collection; data analysis and the report writing.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals with lived experience as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and navigating mental health challenges. We are open to the work being done by two people working approximately 7 hours per week each .

The role will involve:

  • Working independently and collaboratively with the team to co-ordinate and facilitate participant interviews and focus groups in community settings.
  • Preparation and debriefing of participant interviews/ focus groups. • Supporting the analysis and validation of data.
  • Contributing to the dissemination of findings through presentations or written inputs
  • Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the individual needs of the project participants.
  • Adhering to safeguarding protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants and team members, reporting any concerns in line with organisational policies.

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing date: Sunday 5th January (11:59pm)
