Our main area of focus is the elimination of schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases (intestinal worms). Endemic infections of these parasitic worms are found in some of the world’s most marginalised communities, and they can have a hugely detrimental effect on individuals, including:  

• Reduced productivity 
• Internal organ damage 
• Impaired child development 
• Reduced school attendance 
• Increased risk of HIV in women 
• Infertility

The role
 
This is an exciting role, to liaise and support partner organisations to ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and up to date, coded correctly on UH’s cashbooks and reconciled against bank statements. You will also provide technical support to partners’ finance staff and train them on the use of the cashbooks and financial reporting to UH.
 
You will be educated to degree level and have experience in a fast-paced and complex finance role. You should have experience of working with technical accounting packages as well as experience in financial planning and monitoring.
 
The role is fast-paced and complex, and the ideal candidate will need to have proven inter-personal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to assess priorities, organise workloads and initiate action and problem solve.

thrivin’ together is a UK women-only organisation led by lived experience of gambling. We offer space and time to women who actively gamble, are in gambling recovery or are impacted by someone else’s gambling. Set up as a CIC in July 2022 we have consulted with our community and co-produced support and activities for women to support a recovery with dignity, not apology.

Founded in 2018, we have already helped over 1,500 children. We now have 115 volunteers running weekly sessions. This year they are helping 334 children in 38 partner schools across London, and we plan to continue to grow organically every year to support more children.

Our vision is not just that we grow in scale, but that through our example other organisations copy our model, and that eventually all primary school children will have access to volunteer support in maths.

CEO role

The CEO will be a new permanent role, reporting to our founder Chair and to the board of trustees. You will take on all aspects of managing our award-winning charity and drive the board process of setting and delivering strategy. This will include financial management of the charity and involvement in fundraising. This is in the context of our succession plan, whereby our Chair will hand over the executive responsibilities which he currently exercises on a pro bono basis. This is to allow us to recruit a new Chair within two years.

You will line manage the Head of Operations - our current senior employee, who manages our other two staff. The role will be part time for the equivalent of 3 days a week.

Location

You will work mainly remotely, although you will be expected to attend periodic meetings in London. We therefore require candidates to live within commuting distance of Central London, giving maximum flexibility for both the employee and the charity.

About us

Oracy for Schools is the umbrella name for our four enterprises connected by a drive to make a positive impact on young people. How do we do it? We deliver activities and experiences that will develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem - both inside and beyond the classroom. We also achieve this through partnering with schools - giving teachers the resources and training they need to improve their practice.

We’re big enough to have a substantial impact on young people, but small enough for each individual in the team to be able to play to their strengths and take ownership over how they contribute to the collective mission.

The role is remote, but with occasional in-person meetings / events / social opportunities, but these are not fixed and we’re not one of those companies who say remote but really need you to be at a specific location every month!

About the role

Hours: Part time (20 hours), spread over Monday-Friday (9-5), at your discretion and to be agreed by us. 
Location: Remote (from home). The successful candidatre must be UK-based.
Salary: £28,000 pro rata

As our Operations Officer, you'll support the smooth running of the operations across these four enterprises - The Philosophy Man, Outspark, Hidden Leaders and P4HE (Philosophy for Home Education), to help grow our impact in the classroom and beyond. You will play a vital role in assisting us on finance, communication, marketing and data management to help us deliver:

Even more sessions in classrooms
Even more expeditions running in the outdoors
Even more children attending our residential weekends
New partnerships and sponsorships with other organisations

You'll find excellent opportunities to gain hands-on experience in our operations and develop your skills within a dynamic and varied role. Thanks to the wide-range of activities we offer to young people and the variety of opportunities we can offer you, the role can be steered towards your strengths, skills and interests. You would also see the impact of your work first-hand by observing sessions in schools. Contractually, you'll be employed by one of the businesses and then also subcontracted across the other three. We're looking for someone invested in our causes and who will become part of our tight-knot core group, working closely with our Founders, Directors and wider team.

Responsibilities

Financial Administration

• You'll assist with maintaining accurate records of income and expenditure

• You'll support bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices and bank reconciliations

Communications Support

• Where necessary, you'll monitor email inboxes and respond to incoming queries

• You'll assist with outbound marketing to new schools

• You'll help to manage and maintain the social media pages of each business

Data Management

• You'll assist with collecting, organising, storing and presenting data

• You'll work with team members to maintain a clear and accessible data management system

• You'll support ongoing projects, including assisting with the ongoing improvement of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system

General Operations Support

• You'll provide support to ensure the smooth weekly running of operations, such as the posting of books and materials internally and externally

• You'll provide organisational assistance to the Founder during busy periods

​For candidates with suitable experience and qualifications, there would be the option to do some of your hours as direct delivery with young people, but this isn't required nor a prerequisite for applying.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Advice Worker to join our passionate and committed team. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide tailored guidance on social care, disability benefits, health services, and education support, making a meaningful difference to those we serve.

About the Role

As an Advice Worker, you will ensure individuals and families receive timely, practical support that empowers them to navigate key challenges. You will:

• Provide specialist advice on disability benefits, social care, education, and healthcare services.
• Advocate for individuals and families, ensuring they receive the support they need.
• Assist with applications and appeals for welfare benefits, social care assessments, and education support plans.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, social workers, and educators to provide holistic support.
• Attend BBS Clinics, community events, and outreach sessions to deliver in-person advice.
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation and policies affecting individuals with disabilities and rare conditions.

This is a home-based role with occasional travel across England. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with BBS UK policies.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a knowledgeable, committed, and proactive Advice Worker with the skills and drive to make a real difference.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Experience providing advice and support to individuals with disabilities or long-term conditions.
• Strong knowledge of social care systems, disability benefits, and education support.
• Experience in advocacy and casework, supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems (e.g., CharityLog).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of people.
• Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload, and use initiative.
• A deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with rare genetic conditions.

Desirable Experience & Skills

• Experience working remotely as part of a dispersed team.
• Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and experience supporting families with applications and reviews.
• Access to a car for travel (mileage and travel expenses reimbursed).
