Community Engagement Coordinator - Central Region, England

Location: The role will be home-based with extensive travel across the central England region and regular travel to other regions and BookTrust offices.

As a Community Engagement Coordinator, you will work within the regional partnerships team to support projects, pilots and pieces of learning to build greater place-based working with the BookTrust partner network who need us most.  Working with the Partnership Team, and colleagues from across BookTrust support a caseload of community work to support programme delivery, partnership network development and bespoke pieces of learning and development. Create excellent links into and understanding of the issues facing local communities and stakeholders to support BookTrust delivery and development work, and place based, community led initiatives.

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic, credible ambassador with a demonstrable ability to develop relationships and make connections across a wide range of people and groups. You will have great communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences, in writing, and in person. You may have worked within or across a local authority provider network, in outreach or in a local community or project within the third sector. You will have experience in and an interest in work with children and families experiencing deprivation and or children’s reading. You will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work and travel unsupervised across multiple projects simultaneously and to work at pace, often to tight deadlines.

Teaching Resources at Unifrog

One of the most important parts of Unifrog is a searchable library of hundreds of teaching resources, covering careers guidance, progression, SEL, and PSHE. Each week our lessons are used by tens of thousands of teachers in the UK and around the world. 

We aim for our lessons to be plug-and-play, to be truly educational, to make it easy for schools to make the most of the Unifrog platform, and to be fun even when they deal with difficult subjects. We always try to make the learning as active as possible.

Our two core lesson packs are our Careers Year Plan, a complete scheme of learning for careers education for students aged 11-18, and our PSHE Lesson Pack, which covers the KS3, KS4 and KS5 DfE and PSHE Association objectives for PSHE. 

We want to expand this offering to primary schools, giving teachers a version of the Careers Year Plan and PSHE Lesson Pack designed to meet the needs of students aged 4-11, along with bespoke video content for students and written guides for teachers and parents. 

What you’ll do

Your main responsibilities:

• Write effective, impactful and engaging lessons. Your main role is to write engaging lesson content, incorporating text, images, and video elements in creative ways to engage primary students. You’ll develop learning activities that reinforce key concepts, assess student understanding, and encourage the use of higher-order thinking skills. Active learning should be a core component, helping students to apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways. 

• Use your experience and understanding of primary school contexts to tailor lessons to your audience. You’ll create resources that are both user-friendly for teachers and impactful for students. You’ll also ensure that lessons are plug-and-play, making it easy for teachers to deliver lessons without needing significant preparation. For teachers with the time and resources to take the lesson a step further, you might also suggest some extra optional tasks that require extra preparation but enrich the learning experience.

• Structure lessons effectively to align with benchmarks and frameworks. The lessons you write will align with the structure of our existing lessons and lesson packs such as the PSHE Lesson Pack and the Careers Year Plan. You’ll organise the content into a logical sequence of lessons, ensuring that each lesson is progressive and builds on the last to create a comprehensive learning experience for primary-aged students. You’ll align with careers guidance best practice, ensuring careers education lessons are informed by frameworks such as the CDI learning aims and primary-specific adaptations of the Gatsby benchmarks. For PSHE, you’ll ensure your lessons meet PSHE Association objectives and DfE statutory guidance. 

• Consult and collaborate with a range of teams. You’ll work closely with our Careers Guidance Specialist when creating your lessons to ensure they align with best practice in careers guidance. You’ll also collaborate with the Video Team to shape the direction of video content aimed at primary students, ensuring it complements and enhances the lesson materials and is suitable for the intended audience. You’ll work with the Written Content Team to help craft written guides aimed at primary teachers and parents. You may also gather feedback from primary teachers to help you shape or refine the lesson content.

• Respond to and action feedback from your line manager, from others on the Unifrog team, and from external partners. This iterative feedback process ensures continuous improvement and refinement of the lesson content, aligning it with evolving educational standards.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our teaching resources for primary education, and your work will influence the educational journeys of hundreds of thousands of primary-aged students!

What we’re looking for

Essential:

• QTS and relevant primary school teaching experience

  • You must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a minimum 3+ years experience teaching in a primary school setting. You must also have some experience of teaching KS2. 

• Adept at creating exceptional teaching resources

  • Above all else, you need to be brilliant at creating teaching resources, and to love doing it. You will have had significant professional experience creating teaching resources and delivering them to students in a primary school context. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of teaching and learning principles.

This is a full-time, permanent role offered on a remote basis (travel to London once a month).

Reporting to the Head of Governance, Compliance and Risk, the Legal and Contracts Manager will provide bespoke in-house legal advice relating to all aspects of the charity's work, with a significant focus on contracts with third-party vendors. The Legal and Contracts Manager will lead on the drafting, reviewing and agreement of contracts and other legal documentation, ensuring that contract templates highlight the charity values.

Citizens Advice West Northants & Cherwell (CAWNAC) delivers advice across West Northamptonshire and Cherwell and further afield in respect of some of our projects. 

The Macmillan Welfare Benefits project is funded by the Macmillan cancer charity and provides Money Advice to people (or their carers/families) who have a cancer diagnosis. 

You will have lots of support from an experienced and friendly team and you will be responsible for managing your own caseload and achieving agreed project  KPIs.

The enquiry area that you will deal with predominantly is benefits advice and benefits casework. You can call on wider, specialist teams to address more specialist issues.

The role

Reporting to the Benefits and Generalist Group Manager, you will:

• Provide a full welfare benefits casework service for people  affected by cancer, including disability benefits and other sources  of financial support such as grants and help with health and travel  costs. 

• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary  organisations to progress the clients case and ensure they receive  all assistance available. 

• Maintain detailed case records for the purpose of  continuity of case work and information retrieval in line with the  requirements of Citizens Advice and Macmillan Cancer Relief.

• Refer clients on to colleagues or other agencies as appropriate for  specialist help with issues that fall outside the remit of the service,  including housing, debt and employment.

• Provide advice and information on welfare benefits and other  sources of financial help to health and social care professionals  working with the client group. 

• To provide cancer-specific benefits awareness training to  colleagues and other health and social care professionals working  with the client group.

• To support Macmillan/Citizens Advice’s social policy work by  providing case studies, and feedback on issues of concern to  people affected by cancer.

Person specification

Essential Criteria 

• At least two years’ experience of advice work

• Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including  those related to disability and sickness

• An understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients,  particularly clients for whom English is not their main language, and  who may be experiencing stress and anxiety

The role:

• Lead and develop the Financial Reporting team, including regular 1-2-1's, coaching, mentoring & upskilling where appropriate.
• Lead the planning, execution and management of the group external audit and preparation of the UK consolidated financial statements under UK GAAP and Charities SORP.
• Responsible for the integrity of the Trial Balances including regular reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts.

You will work between police custody and criminal courts. You will assess, advise and refer offenders, providing them the opportunity to access treatment to address their substance use. You will be responsible for delivering all elements of substance use work including assertive engagement, harm reduction support, as well as other associated duties. The Role

In May 2024, the organisation launched REACH (Researching Effective Approaches for Children): A plan to find out what works to prevent domestic abuse and support child victims. 

You will develop a detailed plan to operationalise the REACH Plan, including the structure, governance, funding, partnerships and activities that will lead to finding what works in prevention and recovery from domestic abuse. You will also build key relationships in the sector, in survivor networks, in academia and among research funders and in national government to ensure acceptability and secure support for the plan and its objectives

Working closely with the leadership team, you will progress the existing plan to the point of being ready to launch a successful programme of work in April 2025.

This exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Executive Assistant to support the Strategy and Knowledge Directorate.

The Strategy and Knowledge Directorate is responsible for developing and monitoring the NSPCC strategy, influencing public policy, championing an evidenced-based approach in all our work, designing impactful services and developing and managing our knowledge and information services.

The Executive Assistant reports to the Director of S&K and supports her and the Senior Management Team to manage the administrative work involved in running the Directorate. As an Executive Assistant, you're expected to possess the skills to work flexibly within a team; to organise and prioritise your workload; respond to deadlines; and deal with confidential sensitive material. The successful candidate will need to be committed, organised and flexible, with a real passion for the work they do and a desire to contribute to making a difference to the lives of children.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing administrative support to the Director of Strategy and Knowledge (50%), Head of Knowledge and Information (20%), the Head of Strategy Delivery (10%) and the Special Adviser – Child Safety Online Taskforce (20%).
• Responsible for agendas and action logs for Directorate meetings, Senior Management Team meetings, Senior Managers Forum and various internal and external Board meetings.
• Being an accessible and approachable member of the Directorate, proactively responding to needs and developing an excellent knowledge of NSPCC processes and procedures.
• Financial assistance with the Director's cost centre, and holder of the Directorate purchasing card.

This role would suit someone with some experience in an administrative and/or Personal/Executive Assistant function, with experience of tasks such as diary management, forward planning, minute taking, action logs and project coordination.  This is a highly varied role with development opportunities for the right candidate – previous post-holders have moved on to more senior roles at NSPCC and elsewhere.
