Mental Health Homelessness Outreach Team Leader
Reference: 222
Salary: £29,000 - £30,500 per annum per annum incl. Outer London Weighting (OLW)

Reports to: Services Manager – Dual Diagnosis Partnerships
Working base: Flexible to one of our seven Wellbeing Centres across Hertfordshire, dependent on location.
About the Service
This is a pilot service working as a multi-disciplinary team with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs. The Complex Needs Housing Team Leader plays a significant role in the co-ordination and running of the Complex Needs Housing Service.
The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Complex Needs Housing Service are:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental ill health.
- To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental ill health in, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by Herts Mind Network and other third sector and statutory providers.
- To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To reduce the use of police, ASB, tenancy enforcement, housing needs and environmental health services by clients whose primary need is related to mental ill health.
- To reduce the use of crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health with positive outcomes for the individual.
- To provide an assertive outreach approach for clients who are in crisis and/ or those that may have complex or multiple needs.
- To work collaboratively within an MDT consisting of CGL, District and Borough councils, housing teams and other professionals.
This role is key to the development and support of the team and the wider organisation.
The post holder will need to:
- Support the Services Manager with effective running of the Complex Needs Housing Service.
- Provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing. These will be clients who are presenting to District and Borough councils as homeless and need intervention and support with their mental health.
- Line manage staff and where necessary volunteers.
- Lead a team of Mental Health Outreach Workers. Ensuring the team are using databases and outcome tools as required to report for the project.
Key Responsibilities
- To receive and process referrals from the local district and borough Councils for those who have presented as homeless with a mental health need, as well as other appropriate referrals pathways across Hertfordshire and make direct contact within 72 hours of referral.
- To establish effective pathways across a variety of agencies to maximise and provide effective partnership working.
- To manage a caseload of up to 5 clients.
- Embed a holistic, trauma informed and person-centred service
- Proactively recognise the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies.
- Ensure a direct community service is in place which encourages, motivates and builds patients self-esteem and confidence. This will include goal setting and support with social and practical skills development.
- Ensure all person-centred risk assessments and support plans are completed as appropriate.
- To assist clients to access appropriate mental health services, drug and alcohol services, housing/tenancy services and other services according to assessed needs.
- To work with partners both internal and external to ensure that vulnerable person’s cases are monitored and risks evaluated in order to promote community safety.
- Support clients to build their emotional resilience and crisis planning tools, promoting self-management through building an understanding of their own triggers/coping strategies.
- To work with HMN staff in other services in order to make onward referrals to other projects.
- Liaise with appropriate HPFT staff to ensure that individuals are assessed for personal budgets to support with any longer-term needs.
- Support individuals to develop sustainable local social networks, both through our HMN Wellbeing Centres and other community services and resources.
The successful candidate will play a significant role in the co-ordination and running of the Complex Needs Housing Service.

Charity People are delighted to be partnering with The Migraine Trust, a small, ambitious charity which is dedicated to helping people affected by migraine, to bring on board an Information Manager.
The Migraine Trust is the only UK migraine charity providing information and support, campaigning for awareness and change, and funding and promoting research, and has been leading and bringing the migraine community together since 1965. One in seven people in the UK live with migraine. This complex and debilitating neurological disorder can significantly affect many aspects of life including work, school, personal relationships, and feelings of isolation.
Every year over two million people visit The Migraine Trust website for the most up to date information, and thousands contact the helplines for information and support on all aspects of migraine. The Migraine Trust campaign for increased awareness and understanding of migraine, better access to treatment, and national policy change to improve the lives of people who get it.
The Information Manager will coordinate and develop a range of health information needed by the migraine community and people living with migraine to raise awareness to both members of the public and health care professionals. The role is also responsible for ensuring the information on the website is up to date and coordinating and managing Patient Information Forum renewals.
Key responsibilities
- Produce and maintain quality health information: You will manage and update health information, scope, plan, and create new content in consultation with stakeholders, and identify target groups to produce materials to meet their needs. You will work within the Information and Support team constantly communicating with colleagues working on front line services to ensure the information being produced is in line with service users needs. You will also be responsible for managing the organisations PIF processes and assessments.
- Engage with the migraine community: You will hold focus groups to understand information needs, build strategic partnerships to disseminate information effectively, and support staff learning and knowledge-building about migraine.
- Support communication and dissemination: You will work with the Communications team to create accessible information formats, provide content for videos, blogs, and other communication channels and regularly monitor and report on the impact of information provision.
- Research: You will act as the key point of communication for the research committee, manage administrative duties for research funding applications and grants, and coordinate research meetings and liaise with funded researchers for project updates.
- Represent and support the charity: You will represent The Migraine Trust at external events and build relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
The Information Manager will have solid experience of communicating complex health information to audiences in written and online formats, as well as proven experience of producing information from the research stage through to writing, external review and liaising with designers. The successful candidate will have the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of medical and health related information, including research and critical analysis skills to develop an evidence base. You will have experience working within a health communication environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail with demonstrable editing and proofreading skills. You will have the ability to liaise with key stakeholders, be a self-starter with an ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to work to tight deadlines. You will have knowledge and understanding of the benefits of patient engagement to produce health information.
The role is home-based with meetings in London once every 3 months which will include overnight stays and some ad hoc national travel. All travel/overnight expenses are covered. We are seeking a hands-on, seasoned, and globally-minded leader to serve as the foundation’s Director of Operations (DO) as the institution continues to evolve and develop other vehicles fit for its mission and activities.
Role
As Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the foundation’s leadership team jointly responsible for strategic planning and overall management of the institution to ensure organisational health and the fulfilment of the foundation’s mission. You will report to the Executive Director (ED).
Director of Operations Responsibilities
— The responsibilities of the Director of Operations will include, but are not limited to:
Finance
- Maintain best practice of internal and external controls and reporting according to accounting, audit and tax standards for international non-profits and foundations including segregation of duties, security and integrity of data and records, and approval protocols.
- Manage cashflow and liquidity requirements in coordination with the family office.
- With the ED, orchestrate an annual organisation-wide planning and budgeting process.
- Ensure effective expense control, tracking, reporting and forecasting.

Legal and Regulatory

- Ensure that all organisational policies, procedures and practice are compliant with applicable labour, employment, tax, immigration, and business registration laws and regulations in applicable countries or jurisdictions.
- Maintain and acquire as appropriate registrations, permits, and documentation in countries as required by foundation activities and/or employee or contractor location.
- Oversee all contracts and their compliance with appropriate regulations and laws.
People and Culture
- Ensure clarity, equity, and harmonisation of policies (HR, travel and expense), compensation and benefits for staff (employees and consultants) across geographies and tax and legal jurisdictions.
- Oversee policy and practice for personnel including recruitments, hires, orientation and on-boarding, terminations, probation, performance evaluations, human relations and conflict management.
- Foster an institutional culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration while ensuring organisational effectiveness.
Grants Management Oversight
- With the ED and Programme team, oversee the full cycle of grant making including budgeting, projections, programmatic and compliance reviews, payments, grantee reporting and evaluation of outcomes.
- Support Grants Management System (GMS) Systems Administrators as needed, in identifying, prioritizing, and specifying new features and functionality for the GMS system.
Information Technology
- Strategically manage information systems and IT platforms to support this almost 100% virtual, globally spread out, and highly mobile organisation.
- Ensure core systems are robust, available, and accessible to staff in all locations as appropriate.
Risk Management
- Ensure appropriate and adequate insurance policy acquisition and management needed across the institution and oversee ongoing policy management for adequacy of coverage, renewals, and financial considerations (includes liability, worker’s compensation, travel etc. across geographic areas).
- Oversee health and safety policy and procedures across staff locations and during travel.
- Coordinate business continuity policies and procedures.
Staff Management and Mentorship
- The Director of Operations currently has oversight responsibilities for the following functions:
- Finance & Operations Manager
- Grants Manager team
- GMS System Administrators
- Human Relations Manager and International Accountant
- Manage relationships with outsourced tax, payroll processing, and legal resources in various jurisdictions.
- Evaluate and evolve staffing structure and skills to support institutional needs and priorities.
Other duties from time to time, as needed.
Subject to prevailing travel regulations and where the final candidate is located, this position may require periodic international travel to the United Kingdom and/or to Hong Kong.
Qualifications
— The successful Director of Operations candidate will likely reflect much of the following profile:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree and preferably relevant graduate degree (MBA, MPA or equivalent) or comparable experience.
- At least 10 years senior management experience including international operations and finance responsibilities, with an international grantmaking foundation or non-profit organisation or equivalent. Previous COO, CFO, or equivalent experience desirable.
- International living and/or working experience including in the Global South; familiarity with the complexities of operating remotely and under different jurisdictions.
- Specific experience in leading through growth, infrastructure building, and/or change.
- Cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary in understanding and perspective, and proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team of diverse roles, experiences and backgrounds.
- Experience building an inclusive intercultural environment where staff of all backgrounds and abilities can thrive.
- Extensive background in international operations, finance, grants management, and IT.
- Proven skills in systems and process design and implementation.
- Self-sufficient and comfortable working remotely.
- Hands on, with ability to operate tactically as well as think strategically.

We rescue high quality, fresh and nutritious food that cannot be sold from nearly 500 suppliers including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis. We sort and deliver this food to charities, schools and community projects supporting London’s most vulnerable people.This year we expect to rescue 13,000 tonnes of food to redistribute to more than 1,000 London frontline charities and primary schools in every borough of London. That’s enough food to make more than 30 million meals.
The Felix Project is growing fast in response to huge demand. Set up in 2016, we now have around 160 staff working alongside 8,500 volunteers. We have four main operating depots spread across London - in Deptford, Enfield, Park Royal and Poplar. We’re committed to ensuring our different teams work hand-in-hand, so our main hot-desking spaces are built into these depots.
Alongside our large-scale, depot-based operations we have green ‘point-to-point' food redistribution projects in central London and Canary Wharf. In Poplar, we operate a commercial Kitchen which uses surplus food to cater for up to 5,000 individual meals per day.
Purpose of the Job
The People Administrator will manage all staff recruitment and operations at The Felix Project. You will support the hiring managers through all stages of the employee life cycle and will ensure this process is both rigorous and streamlined. You will also manage and support our HR administration systems and will act as first point of contact for day-to-day staff issues. Working closely with the Head of People you will help introduce improvements to our systems and administration processes.

Our highly committed Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the North East England & Yorkshire Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.
You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.
Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the North East England or Yorkshire region, which includes North, South, East and West Yorkshire, Teesside, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.
