Foxglove is a litigation and campaigning nonprofit that exists to make the use of technology fair. When governments and major tech companies use technology to abuse their power, we investigate, litigate and campaign to make it right. 

Big Tech companies have become so large – gobbling up a huge slice of the global marketplace and an unprecedented treasure hoard of user data – that they’re now more powerful than many states. The harmful effects of this concentration of power are everywhere – threats to our democracy, to our privacy, decimated workers’ rights and platforms rife with disinformation and hate. Governments are ploughing ahead with the use of algorithms and mass data systems to cut costs and increase efficiency often resulting in digital tools that entrench unfairness and leave the most vulnerable in society in crisis. All these problems are only getting worse with generative AI.

Foxglove works to bring the rule of law to the tech and AI giants who have upended our public square, workplaces, and social lives. We fight to reduce these anti-democratic behemoths’ size and power and we challenge them for abusing their workers. We also work to ensure public bodies use data and algorithms openly, fairly, and legally. 

We have a strong track record. We’ve launched landmark cases seeking structural changes to big tech’s harmful business models, supported 180+ Facebook content moderators fired for trying to form a union to sue Facebook and their outsourcing company, Sama – winning world-first judgements. We helped launch Africa’s first content moderators' union and are urging UK and EU regulators to halt Big Tech’s maneuvers to hoover up generative AI as it has the rest of our online world. We have forced disclosure of secret contracts between tech giants and the NHS, stopped a racist Home Office visa streaming algorithm, helped make grading fair for UK A level students, forced the government to pause the NHS Data Grab and challenged the Department of Work and Pension’s use of an algorithm unfairly flagging disabled people for benefit fraud investigations.

We are a small but growing team of lawyers, communications experts, and campaigners. Our work is global, and we work in partnership with lawyers, civil society, unions, and impacted people. 

About you

You are an experienced lawyer with a strong interest in using the law to hold governments and companies to account. You understand change doesn’t only take place within the walls of the court and that movements only succeed when they’re inclusive, making as many people as possible see they have a stake in these issues. You are a self-starter with the initiative to find opportunities, but the team-spiritedness to contribute to a shared goal and celebrate others’ work. The role

The post holder will be responsible for managing Foxglove’s legal team and legal work. You will drive forward a range of cases, including the development of case theories, investigating and collecting evidence, drafting correspondence, evidence and submissions. You will also be responsible for coordinating and managing external legal teams. UK and international travel is required. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Case Development and Management

• Listen to affected communities, unearth issues caused by tech injustice, and come up with innovative legal solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with impacted community members, unions, other lawyers, experts, co-counsel, intervenors, civil society organisations and the public.
• Draft and comment on technical and legal documents and correspondence.
• Effectively work with the co-Executive Director to implement Foxglove’s legal strategy
• Manage and supervise the legal team.
• Lead evidence gathering.

Compliance and Risk Management 

• Manage court deadlines and time limits where applicable.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in all aspects of your work and our cases.
• Always maintain the strictest standards of client confidentiality. 
• Always maintain the strictest concern for and awareness of data protection and Foxglove policies.
• Keep up to date with the global litigation landscape concerning tech justice.

Other

• Help ensure communities’, workers’ and affected individual’s voices are heard in our campaigns, communications and advocacy work.
• Contribute to social media posts, blogs and op-eds. 
• Speak to the press about Foxglove’s cases as required. 
• Contribute to the development of materials for advocacy purposes including video or audio testimony, photographs etc.
• Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Person Specification

Essential 

• A strong interest in using the law to hold government and companies to account. 
• Qualified lawyer in any jurisdiction with at least senior legal experience. 
• Ability to learn new areas of law quickly and develop new areas of work.
• Demonstrable knowledge in conduct of cases from initial advice through to trial.
• Relevant experience in analysing complex factual and legal situations and helping to advise clients in accordance with their aims.
• Experience in dealing sensitively with clients and experts. 
• Experience in working on complex matters, which require analysis of large amounts of documents and data.
• Excellent communication skills, demonstrated by ability to communicate accurately, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 
• Excellent time management skills demonstrated by ability to organise and prioritise a complex workload and work to tight deadlines.
• Experience in working and contributing to a team environment.

Length and Salary

The role is permanent. The annual salary is £70,075 per annum less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

Our team works remotely, and this role can be based anywhere. We would prefer you to work within or close to UK office hours, but this is flexible. Our team travels every two months for team days and twice a year for team retreats. This role will include significant UK and international travel.Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.

Frazzled is a small mental health and wellbeing charity founded by Ruby Wax OBE, that provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can meet on a regular basis to talk and share their personal stories. 

We run our free meetings online every single day of the year for anyone who needs them, and anyone can book and be included to talk, share, listen and to feel heard.

As part of our exciting plans for growth, we are seeking a Fundraising Lead to drive the organisation’s fundraising to fulfil our mission and play a key role in supporting the next phase of Frazzled’s growth and development. 

You will be responsible for developing and delivering an ambitious fundraising strategy with a range of fundraising activities focusing primarily on trusts and foundations but also individual donors, corporate partners and fundraising campaigns.

This is an exciting, creative and flexible opportunity for the right person. The ideal candidate is someone with a demonstrable successful track record in fundraising, alongside the skills of a talented and persuasive communicator and relationship builder. They will be creative, solution focussed, willing to get stuck in and have good humour.

We would be willing to consider freelancers or contract workers for the right candidate.

MAIN TASKS

Fundraising

• Lead on developing and delivering an annual fundraising strategy to support our ambitious plans for growth, securing a minimum of £250k per year from Trusts and Foundations, individual donors, fundraising events and campaigns, and corporate partnerships. 
• Research and generate a pipeline of funding applications, including multi-year grant opportunities from Trusts and Foundations
• Lead on writing compelling applications and conversations with funders, talking persuasively and informatively about Frazzled’s work and impact
• Work with the CEO and trustees to develop new relationships with individual donors and strengthen partnerships with existing supporters
• Work with the CEO and Head of Training and Programmes to develop new opportunities for corporate sponsorship and partnerships
• Lead on organising fundraising events such as dinners with major funders and initiate and develop other opportunities for fundraising.
• Lead on Frazzled’s annual Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign and identify any other fundraising campaign opportunities throughout the year, with support from the Project Support and Administration Officer
• Prepare regular reports and updates for our funders and trustees, engaging them with our work and the impact of their support
• Ensure that Frazzled’s fundraising work is GDPR compliant and meets best practice standards.

Other:

• Work with and support the Project Support and Administrative Officer in relevant fundraising tasks, delegating where appropriate.
• Participation in other projects/initiatives as required as a core member of the management team
• A willingness to engage fully with our programme to ensure the post holder can speak confidently about delivery
• Work with the CEO and team to develop innovative and compelling ways to articulate the impact Frazzled has on its community

• Proven experience of successfully developing and implementing a fundraising strategy

Having begun as a two-person part time project with the modest goal to development of some resources to support listening practices, the School for Synodality has grown to become a hub of encouragement and support around synodal practices within the Church in England and Wales and an important voice in the international conversation about the implementation of synodality. This growth has necessitated stronger working partnerships, growing our capacity and systems. To ensure the limited capacity of our directors is best utilised we’re looking for an operations manager to join are team to support smooth running of the project and development of its vision. 

The School for Synodality Operations Manager will be central to the operational and administrative functions of the School for Synodality, including overseeing the work of the Administrator and Communications Specialist and supporting projects and partnerships with diocese, local church communities and other stakeholders across the Church. The role requires someone who understands the Catholic Church and is committed to fostering collaboration for the vision of the School for Synodality. 

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in a remote, flexible context and working alongside part time staff and volunteers with limited capacity.

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. A minimum salary of £39,695.24 gross (our salary base for people resident in the UK) will apply from the beginning of the probationary period. The salary base may change due to your previous experience related to the position, or your experience in animal advocacy (+3% for each year). In addition, the salary increases with your seniority in Open Cages according to the following model:

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as a campaigner who focuses on communications, you will work on the frontlines by shining a light on the hidden suffering of animals trapped on factory farms, and mobilising the public to take action. Your first task will be to help us convince the UK’s largest food businesses to improve their chicken welfare policies, primarily through crafting media stories and marketing campaigns that capture the hearts and minds of the public.

While this may sound challenging, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a historic change for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Someone has to pick up the fight, and we hope it will be You.

Due to the broad scope of our work, there is no simple description of the perfect campaigner. There may also be certain areas where you are stronger than others, and we are open to fitting the role around you. We are looking for a generalist rather than a specialist. Campaign and Activism Manager.

Salary: £40,000 per annum. 

Location: Remote (with travel to London for regular meetings).

As Campaigns and Activism Manager, you will be Action for Children's expert in public-facing policy change campaigns and supporter engagement. This is a role that is pivotal to securing positive change for disadvantaged children and young people.

Job purpose

This role sits in our Direct fundraising Team within the Individual Giving department. The key purpose of the job is to:

•  Support the Associate Head and Senior Fundraisers to continue to grow and develop face-to-face direct recruitment and telephone fundraising activity at the NSPCC.
• To work with Senior Fundraisers and Associate Head within the Direct fundraising team to deliver agreed campaigns in line with business requirements.
• Advocate and reinforce the team’s ethics and values across compliance, safeguarding, supporter experience and best practice fundraising.
• Enhance the supporter experience and protect the NSPCC’s reputation when working with professional fundraising agencies.
• Through mystery shopping, call listening and other activities, ensure all activity, by agency partners and relevant internal teams, is compliant with regulation, codes of practice and NSPCC policies.
• Monitor campaign performance and income, ensuring that campaign KPIs and metrics are reported accurately and consistently.
• Monitor expenditure, including financial processes such as raising POs, checking invoices and reporting against budgeted expenditure figures.
• Work with data, including checking data selections for telephone activity.
• Work effectively with other departments within Individual Giving, Communications and Fundraising Directorates and other functions within the NSPCC to maximise income for children. Also working with external agencies to deliver large scale campaigns.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. With the Associate Head of Direct Fundraising, agree and deliver face-to-face and telephone  direct fundraising activities in line with the Individual Supporters department’s annual business plan and budget to enable the NSPCC to plan its activity and services.
2. Work with the Associate Head to maximise the opportunities by which the fundraising activity can contribute to the NSPCC’s mission of fighting for every childhood over and above fundraising objectives.
3. Be responsible for the development of relationships and delivery of income from potential supporters engaged through face-to-face activity
4. Work with internal NSPCC support teams to set up new agencies and campaigns.
5. Keep up to date on best practice and developments within the charity sector generally and particularly changes to fundraising regulations, compliance and codes of practice relating to direct dialogue fundraising. Updating existing or creating new processes and working with agencies to implement changes in activity.
6. Work with internal compliance teams and external agencies to plan and implement a monitoring schedule in line with the most up to date codes of practice, guidance and regulations.  This should include regular mystery shopping and call listening.
7. To work with the Associate Head to maximise the opportunities by which the fundraising activity of the Direct Fundraising team can contribute to the NSPCC’s mission of ending cruelty to children over and above fundraising objectives.
8. To carry out research through a range of sources, including the Internet, Intranet, publications and other external contacts, including other charities, in order to obtain relevant information that can contribute to the fundraising activities of the Direct fundraising team.

Parenting Mental Health is a charity dedicated to supporting parents and carers of children experiencing mental health challenges. With an annual income of approximately £300k, we are on an exciting growth journey and need a motivated and enthusiastic Fundraising Manager to help us expand and diversify our income streams to continue delivering vital support.

We are looking for an individual who has fundraising experience and who is ready to roll up their sleeves and help us build on our successes so far.  You will drive initiatives forward on your own whilst working closely with our new CEO – no one day will be the same!  The impact you could make will change family lives for the better.

Your Role:

As our Fundraising Manager, you will develop and implement robust fundraising for the charity growing our income through existing and new fundraising streams.  One of our initial ambitions is to implement an individual giving programme as well as build community and challenge event fundraising.  It’s a varied and rewarding role where you will contribute to the charity’s continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Trusts and Foundations: research potential funding opportunities, submit applications, and maintain relationships with existing grantors.
• Individual Giving: develop and implement an individual giving programme.
• Community Fundraising: develop and implement community fundraising initiatives to generate vital income.
• Challenge Events: develop and implement a programme of UK based events, encouraging participants to meet their fundraising targets.
• Corporate Fundraising: identify and engage corporate partners, securing financial support and managing ongoing partnerships.
• Donor Stewardship: ensure donors feel valued by sending timely acknowledgements and regular updates on the impact of their support.
• Database: help implement and maintain a new CRM system.

What We Are Looking For:

• An experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of delivering fundraising strategy and results.
• A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to manage a variety of tasks and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for building relationships.
• Attention to detail and knowledge of fundraising regulations and best practices
• Experience of digital fundraising platforms and social media campaigns and how the charity can use these to maximise income.
• A passion for the mission of Parenting Mental Health and a desire to make a positive impact: “Lived experience” desirable but not essential.
