Job title: Low Intensity Practitioner (Step 2) - specialising in African Caribbean Heritage communities

Responsible to: Senior Practitioner - Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mind CHWF to join our Psychological Therapies IAPT Service as a Low Intensity Practitioner working primarily with the local African Caribbean Heritage (ACH) community (but also open to work with all groups). Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team the post holder will be responsible for screening new referrals into our service, and delivering a Low intensity Step 2 provision (using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy modality) within our specialist pathway for African Caribbean communities. The role will offer primarily group-based interventions, guided self-help, psychoeducational sessions, brief 1:1 interventions and supporting digital therapies.  This is a part time, position where you can really make a difference to the outcomes in the lives of the Black, African and Caribbean Communities.

The Job

The Communications Officer will play a critical role in GISF’s Communications team, working closely with the Communications Lead. The Communications team supports the work of all other teams across GISF, including Research, Membership & Events, Policy & Advocacy, and more.

The Communications Officer will work on a wide array of communications outputs, including social media, e-newsletters, the GISF website, printed brochures, branded materials, the GISF podcast, and more. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on a diverse range of communications products, using different software tools, and consulting with a variety of external contractors, such as web developers and printers. Being proactive and adaptable are key skills for this role.

Job Description

The Communications Officer will be responsible for creating content across a wide range of Communications platforms. Some of the core duties of the role include:

• Organising GISF’s social media posting on LinkedIn and X (Twitter). This includes writing text for social media posts, designing graphics using Canva, and scheduling posts using Agorapulse. The Communications Officer is also expected to follow social media and sectoral trends to identify opportunities for engagement.
• Maintaining and updating GISF website content. This includes uploading new resources and publications; ensuring the vacancies, events and training sections of the website are regularly updated; and acting as a contact point with GISF’s external web development support team, to introduce new elements to the website and resolve issues when they arise. The Communications Officer also collects monthly website data using Google Analytics.
• Writing and designing GISF’s fortnightly newsletter. The newsletter is designed and sent using Mailerlite, with graphics created on Canva. The Communications Officer is expected to proactively suggest content for the newsletter and make sure it reflects the latest news from GISF, as well as the wider sector of NGO security risk management.
• Designing printed materials. These can include flyers, brochures, display banners, and more for GISF events and external events. The Communications Officer is expected to ensure promotional materials are designed, printed and delivered in a timely manner to maximise engagement with attendees at events.
• Supporting in the dissemination of new GISF publications and products. The Communications Officer is expected to take a proactive approach in reaching out to external contacts to promote GISF’s latest content. The Communications Officer should develop a dissemination plan for each new product, encompassing external outreach, member engagement, social media promotion, and more.
• Supporting with the creation and dissemination of GISF’s podcast. This includes attending planning meetings to develop new episode ideas; assisting with recordings; liaising with external audio editors; uploading episodes to Spotify and YouTube; and promoting the podcast though social media, newsletters, and more.

Strategic support

The GISF Communications team consists of two people, and GISF has a staff workforce of around 20. Therefore, the Communications Officer is expected to play an active role in the team, contributing new ideas to both the Communications team and the wider organisation. This includes:

• Contributing to the development of GISF communication plans. The Communications Officer is expected to bring a clear plan of the communications schedule to regular meetings. They will think creatively and suggest new ideas including ways to grow GISF’s audiences, implementing plans for promoting specific GISF publications, and more.
• Identifying possible allies for GISF communications. This might include other NGOs, journalists, think tanks, or universities that cover similar areas of interest to GISF and can promote GISF content or collaborate on podcasts, blogs, events or webinars. The Communications Officer is expected to proactively identify and reach out to such individuals and organisations and connect with them on specific projects.
• Interpreting GISF’s analytics data to inform better strategies. The Communications Officer is responsible for gathering data for GISF’s monthly reporting, including analytics from GISF’s website, social media and e-newsletter. The Communications Officer is expected to note trends and suggest improvements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Development & Advocacy Manager will be a core member of the Trees for Cities team and lead our work across London. You will be responsible for the development of our tree planting projects across the city, alongside being the charity’s voice in the capital – developing partner relationships, advocating for urban trees and raising the profile of the charity with key stakeholders.

The role will involve a large amount of interpersonal work and requires a confident, well-organised and friendly individual, who can both lead the development of projects, and act as a spokesperson for the charity and urban forestry in the city. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with partners and these will be key to success. There will be close working with a range of internal teams and colleagues at TfC, and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks is essential.

You will work under the steer of the Senior Development Manager, engaging with local authority and other landowners across London to develop TfC’s seasonal programme of tree planting projects. You will represent TfC to partners and in key London networks, such as the London Urban Forestry Partnership, and be confident at representing the organisation. As the organisation embarks on a new strategic period from April 2025, the role will be required to incorporate an increasing amount of advocacy work to ensure key messages are communicated effectively; influencing decision makers to best support urban forestry.

• Generating evidence with the regional and participation teams, including designing, planning and conducting both qualitative and quantitative research enquiries e.g. surveys, interviews and focus groups.
• Working with the wider EYP team to reinforce the triangulate insights generated into key themes that support the development of practical evidence-based guidance.

About the role

As our Media Manager for Research, you’ll lead activity to promote the life-changing impact of British Heart Foundation's (BHF) work through the media.

You'll have a strong track record of developing imaginative and impactful science-focused media work and will lead a team of research communication experts to seek out stories that bring BHF funded science to life in ways that inspire support from the public and people with heart and circulatory disease. 

Working closely with BHF-funded researchers you'll use your expertise and strong news sense to identify and promote research discoveries through the media. You will also be responsible for creating compelling online content about BHF research to promote on the BHF’s own channels.

You'll play a leading part in developing and implementing the BHF’s research communications strategy in support of the charity’s objectives.

Part of the management team that leads the BHF’s busy reactive press office, you’ll ensure heart patients receive accurate information through the media.

Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

About the Role

In this role, you will support the Charity’s Fundraising arm, helping to deliver media campaigns that will emotionally and creatively communicate the need for more people and organisations to donate to the BHF and help fund our lifesaving research.

You’ll play an important role by leading priority fundraising campaigns and events, writing engaging and exciting content to encourage people to donate to the BHF or sign up to one of our successful challenge events.

Working closely with the wider Marketing, Fundraising and Engagement directorate, you’ll build effective working relationships that will help maximise our opportunities and help generate income. You’ll also assist the PR team in our work with corporate partners, including big national brands, to help creatively communicate the exciting ways they help fund our research.

The role will also support the BHF’s busy press office, where you will spot opportunities, respond to daily media enquiries, and participate in our out of hour’s service on a rotational shift basis.

About you 
 
Already working in a PR environment, you will be a self-starter and bring enthusiasm, drive and creativity to develop stand-out campaigns that land in the national press.

You'll have a good working knowledge of the media landscape and an understanding of what works well in press to achieve coverage. You’ll also be an exceptional communicator, able to deliver accurate and engaging communications.

With previous experience assisting in the delivery of integrated PR campaigns, you'll have excellent organisational and problem-solving skills and be confident managing a range of tasks and projects with competing deadlines. You’ll have confidence in working with people at all levels, enjoy pitching in to help your team, building relationships and have an understanding of the BHF’s cause and objectives.

You will preferably have strong experience working as a Press Officer, be passionate about the charity sector, and have experience of writing and selling press releases to national media and assisting on campaigns.

Our client is a leading mental-health charity who has been supporting children, young people and families for the past 70 years. We are pleased to be assisting them in their search for a temporary Evidence & Implementation Lead. The role is running for 3-months and is full time (35 hours per week). This role is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

• Leading and managing the distribution and implementation of evidence for the National Centre for Family Hubs (NCFH) programme, ensuring the production of good quality resources produced in a timely manner.

You will have significant experience and a proven track record in developing and delivering fundraising strategy, particularly focused on trusts, foundations and philanthropy, taking a relationship-based approach to build partnerships with organisations that share similar values and vision.

You will work with the team to build our capability, partnership, systems and processes to steward relationships, develop grants and manage their delivery.  Working with our Communications Co-ordinator you will help to build INTRAC’s profile and position in line with our strategic vision and ambitions.  You will have active support from the CEO along with strong board commitment to help develop and deliver this role.

This is a part time role (0.6-0.8 FTE); initially offered as an eighteen month contract with the intention to extend should the role be successful.

We are a remote organisation, with staff working across the UK. As we become a global network we are looking at options as to how to expand our staff base in different geographies, as we believe this will benefit INTRAC and support our strategic direction.  However, we do not have a straightforward way to do this currently.
