We are looking for a dynamic and organised Volunteer & Community Lead to join our team. This role will focus on managing and growing our network of volunteers while also strengthening relationships with the community through outreach initiatives.You will play a key role in recruiting, supporting, and retaining volunteers for our hub and community programmes, as well as leading fundraising initiatives to engage schools, businesses, and individuals.

About Sebby’s Corner

Sebby's Corner is based in Barnet, EN5 and our aim is to ensure that no child goes without the basic essentials they need to thrive. We supply items such as clothing, nappies, formula and baby equipment to local families living in poverty. Families in need get referred to us by social workers, health visitors, family support workers, midwives and other professionals. We work with almost 800 different referral partners across 400 different organisations.

We also offer school uniform support and we have a Birthday Club that ensures that a child who would otherwise go without has a gift, cake, balloons and decorations to celebrate their special day. At Christmas, we host a Grotto where parents can come and choose a gift for their child at no cost. We have a new partnership with Citizen’s Advice Barnet that allows families to book an appointment with an advisor at our hub.

In addition to our baby bank services, we work to engage and inspire the community through fundraising, volunteering opportunities, and outreach programmes. Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Volunteer Management

• Oversee the day-to-day management of volunteers, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and their time is used productively.
• Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract new volunteers and new hub leaders including targeted campaigns and partnerships with local schools and community organisations.
• Create and maintain a volunteer database, tracking availability, skills, and engagement.
• Deliver volunteer induction sessions and ongoing training as needed.
• Build a welcoming and inclusive volunteer culture, ensuring volunteers feel valued and motivated.

Community Outreach

• Represent Sebby’s Corner by speaking at schools, community groups, and local businesses to promote our mission and encourage support.
• Develop and deliver outreach programmes to inspire community involvement, such as fundraising initiatives and challenge events.
• Act as a key contact for schools, organising donation drives and volunteer days.
• Recruit participants for fundraising activities such as marathons, walks, or bake sales.
• Send thank-you letters and certificates to fundraisers and donors, recognising their contributions.

Event Planning and Support

• Assist in planning and running Sebby’s Corner events, including seasonal fundraisers and awareness campaigns.
• Support the organisation and delivery of volunteer and community recognition events.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, community partnerships, and event outcomes.
• Develop reports and insights on volunteer and outreach activity to inform future strategy.
• Support the team with general administrative tasks related to volunteers and community outreach.

About your skills and experience

Essential

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience managing and recruiting volunteers.
• Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
• Comfortable speaking to groups and delivering presentations.
• Strong relationship-building skills and a passion for community engagement.

What we can offer

Salary and pension

The salary for this role is £28,500 annum FTE (this will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week and is subject to normal deductions). If eligible to join the pension, we will match your contributions by 5%.

Annual leave

You will be entitled to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (these will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week). We usually give the team time off between Christmas and New Year that doesn’t come off your allowance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Dementia UK in a new role as Head of Digital Engagement. You will be responsible for developing and delivering an effective, proactive and integrated digital strategy, overseeing an operational plan that supports the organisation’s overarching objectives.

As the Head of Digital Engagement, you will lead our Digital Engagement Team, motivating and empowering colleagues to create inspiring and engaging cross-channel digital marketing activity (including website, email, pay-per-click and paid social media activity). To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience of digital marketing and communications at a senior level. You will have a strong track record of overseeing the successful delivery of digital projects, campaigns and content that generate measurable results. You will also have experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, alongside managing operational plans with clearly defined KPIs and identified risks. The role

We are seeking an experienced marketing and communications manager to raise awareness of, and engagement with, the activities of our Enterprise directorate, with a particular focus on our portfolio of regional Hubs.

The successful candidate will develop and deliver marketing plans and produce assets which may include social media posts, paid digital marketing, email newsletters, digital graphics, printed flyers, video clips, blog posts or press releases – tailoring each to regional audiences around the UK. While raising awareness of our regional Hubs with targeted outreach for key local activities, you will also work closely with a small Programme Communications team to contribute to communications plans for our entire suite of Enterprise Hub programmes, helping ensure that each delivers a sufficient volume of high quality, diverse applications from across the UK.

You will be expected to recommend marketing approaches to make an impact, while monitoring and evaluating campaigns to learn from successes and make suggestions for improvement. With good all-round communications skills, you will need to craft high impact copy as well as produce eye-catching visuals, all while adhering to the Academy’s and Enterprise Hub’s brand and visual identity guidelines. It will be vital to work in collaboration – managing suppliers, meeting the needs of colleagues in multiple teams, and working closely with external partners.

About you

To succeed in the role, you should have:

• Proven experience of showcasing the impact of a charitable organisation for an audience of high-level donors, preferably in a medical science context, to foster repeat and lifelong support.
• Proven experience of producing high specification documents for a discerning readership, encompassing experience in copywriting, desktop publishing including InDesign and the effective use of images.
• Demonstrable project management experience, preferably in producing short and longform written materials from conception to delivery, in both digital and hard copy formats.
• Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders towards a common goal.
• Ability to work autonomously and deliver high quality work to a deadline.
• Familiarity with fundraising databases such as OneCRM and Raiser's Edge databases, would be a valuable bonus.

Role Overview 

You will be integral to achieving our strategic priorities of generating income through repeat support, and providing exceptional supporter journeys for our community, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
