This Deputy Head of Politics role is an ideal chance to leverage your in-depth understanding of the relationships between politics and the media – and how these can be used to create change.

Greenpeace UK is an independent national/regional organisation within the global Greenpeace campaigning network, which acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. The global network of Greenpeace organisations comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International.

You’ll work with the Head of Politics to lead on, oversee or take responsibility for the development of political strategies within and across our campaigns, in line with the overall organisational and political team strategy.

The key to successfully delivering against our objectives will be to play a constructive and cooperative team leadership role, ensuring the optimal functioning, development and coordination of our political work in order to identify and exploit political opportunities for the benefit of our campaigns.

Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. • Experience of political lobbying and effective political stakeholder influencing at a senior national or international level.

• Ability to manage and lead projects relating to political work, including maintaining effective administration and information systems.

• Ability to identify and exploit political opportunities for the benefit of our campaigns.

• Demonstrable ability to manage staff in line with our values of: relationships first, lifting all boats and we want to win.

• Experience of developing policy positions for a campaign organisation and understanding of the factors bearing on that.

About the role

Overview:

Stema (Charity No 1204510) is seeking an experienced CEO for our charity pioneering disruptive approaches to global health and sustainable development. The CEO will report directly to our trustees, growing our small and dynamic global team, driving Stema forwards by expanding and diversifying our funding sources, and developing innovative research and products.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organisation, with:

• Experience as a charity CEO; or

• Experience at a director-level position in global health or related field, with fundraising experience and professional qualifications such as an MBA. 

About Stema:

Stema is a small Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) founded to advance the education of the public in the field of global health. Our research centres upon community health, positive health, participatory methods and agentic approaches. Our mission is to catalyse positive disruptions in the field of global health through publishing research and developing tools and partnerships. We are a small, international team of academics, entrepreneurs and development professionals. 

Our focus over the last year has been developing alternative approaches to community health and sustainable development, leading to the development of the concept of community positive health and creation of an index to measure community positive health. Our approach is informed by extensive participatory fieldwork in low-resource settings around the world, for example Kenya, Peru and Sierra Leone. Our work is supported by rigorous scientific research in partnership with leading academic institutions, NGOs and in-country research institutions, for example University College London, Oregon State University, and Safe Water and Aids Project. 

Stema has been backed by a single funding source to date. We are now looking to expand and diversify our revenue streams, providing an exciting opportunity for the CEO to develop and implement a sustainable fundraising strategy. We envisage that: (i) fundraising and (ii) the potential development and commercialisation of tools and technologies linked to our research may be pathways towards a sustainable business model that is consistent with our charitable objectives - but the ultimate strategy will be formed by the CEO.

As part of a fundraising strategy, the successful candidate will develop impact metrics that communicate the value of Stema’s work to potential donors - for example, by tying our impact to the Sustainable Development Goals, which will be familiar to funders. We might communicate our impact in relation to the following goals, but the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape, adapt and refine these goals.

• Improving health and concepts of health in developing and underserved settings

• Improving education and livelihoods in developing and underserved settings

• Facilitating technologies and positive disruptions

• 5 years fundraising experience and a track record of successful resource mobilisation for social impact.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing teams at a senior level.

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with potential partners, donors and investors.

• Familiarity with global health, development, and sustainability research and experience working in diverse community contexts globally.

Digital Communications Intern – Public Affairs and Communications

About this role

Working in ODI’s Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) department, the Digital Communications Intern will support the digital team with producing and marketing content for ODI’s core digital channels – spanning the website, social media and newsletters.

The internship presents a fantastic opportunity to get experience of working on different aspects of digital communications, with a particular focus on writing and dissemination.

Tasks will include drafting social media posts, helping to produce digital assets, compiling newsletter content, proofreading, and identifying opportunities for content development and promotion. Providing day-to-day support for the digital team, you will also gain hands-on experience of the ODI website’s Content Management System, among other products.

You will have a demonstrable interest in both digital communications, particularly content creation, and global affairs, and use your skills to help deepen the online engagement and reach of ODI’s work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Helping to compile content and draft copy for ODI’s weekly newsletter.
• Supporting with the production and digital marketing of ODI’s fortnightly Think Change podcast – including by proofing transcripts, identifying teaser clips and drafting social media promotion toolkits.
• Drafting social media posts, both for ODI and staff channels (as required).
• Sourcing photos and coordinating the production of digital assets.
• Horizon scanning of external events and news stories, and helping to populate a social media promotion calendar.
• Helping to manage and grow the LinkedIn page for Tandem, ODI’s Global Executive Leadership Programme, including by community management, sourcing content to promote and drafting posts.
• Proofreading and uploading content to the ODI and Tandem websites. 
• Supporting with compiling data for analytics reports (as required), which assess the performance of ODI and Tandem’s digital content and channels.
• Supporting with internal communications – including updating the PAC/Digital team’s Sharepoint page, and sending team updates for internal newsletters.
• Supporting the Digital and wider PAC team with other tasks, as needed.

 

About you
 

• Excellent writing and proofreading skills – you’ll have a knack for distilling complex information and ideas into clear and engaging copy.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrable interest in digital communications and content creation – including for websites, social media or newsletters.
• Experience in creating content for social media channels, particularly LinkedIn and X.
• Experience in using Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator) or other design tools would be a bonus.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills.
• A motivated and creative self-starter, who shows initiative in supporting on tasks and sharing ideas.
• Demonstrable interest in global affairs.
• Ability to work collegially with members of the wider PAC team, Tandem team and researchers.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a keen and proactive individual, who is looking to gain experience in the humanitarian sector. This role will support Christian's Aid's Ukraine team to deliver a high-quality response through local partners. The post holder will be responsible for providing a range of administrative and logistical support, to enable the team to effectively manage projects, funds and partnerships as part of Christian Aid's Ukraine response.

Although not essential, it is highly desirable that you are able to speak Ukrainian.

About the Afghan Pro Bono Initiative (APBI)

The Afghan Pro Bono Initiative is a specialist casework project delivered by RLS with funding and pro bono assistance from 14 leading commercial law firms. It is a project delivered in partnership with SPI. 

Firm pro bono lawyers are trained and supervised by the project’s two full-time supervising lawyers so that they can then assist with legal casework.

APBI has two core components. The team delivers legal information and support to and within the Afghan community, working together with the Community Engagement and Research Lead to ensure wide access. While the project also provides high quality legal representation in a range of cases for this community. This includes family reunion, the ARAP scheme, the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme and others. 

APBI then aims to respond to the increased need for legal information, advice and representation of Afghan nationals and their family members forced to seek protection and reunion with family in the United Kingdom following the Taliban takeover. The project is now going into its 3rd year, and won the Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership Award at the Law Works Pro Bono Awards in 2022 as well as being nominated and commended for numerous other awards in 2022 and 2023. 

The casework of this project feeds into strategic research, policy and advocacy efforts to make existing ‘safe’ routes to protection (in particular refugee family reunion and resettlement schemes) more accessible and effective, advocate for their expansion and defend the fundamental rights of people on the move by influencing policy and decision making. 

Litigation arising out of the project is actively pursued (where eligible) under RLS’s legal aid contract to push for better decision-making, secure results for individuals and pursue improvements in the relevant law, policy and practices. 

RLS recognise that pro bono legal work is always an adjunct to, and not a substitute for, an adequate system of publicly funded legal services. 

Key responsibilities and objectives

The post holder will be a staff member of Refugee Legal Support. They will be a participant within the Afghan Pro Bono Initiative project team, which comprises two lawyers (the other being at SPI), a coordinator and a Community Engagement and Research Lead in addition to the volunteer lawyers from the individual commercial firm partners. 
 

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small caseload and provide high quality legal advice and representation to clients;

• Supervise the work of volunteer pro bono commercial lawyers on cases;

• Deliver training to pro bono commercial lawyers;

• Ensure that all legal work is promptly and accurate recorded on RLS’s case management system and keep relevant time recording;

Free Tibet is a small but effective campaign organisation based in south London. We’re looking for a Fundraising Manager who can transform our routine fundraising and lead expert strategies for income generation.  This role is best suited to an experienced fundraiser who is confident in managing multiple streams of income and a small team. We are currently implementing a pay grading system at Free Tibet, offering increases with each year of service. The salary for this position starts at up to £45,000 based on the successful candidate’s experience.

Fundraising

• Oversee all income-generation activity across Free Tibet and Tibet Watch. Ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams. Current streams include postal appeals, online appeals, and the Free Tibet online shop.

• Manage applications for grant funding on behalf of both Free Tibet and Tibet Watch, working with the Fundraising Officer to build a strong portfolio of five and six-figure grants and steward them for renewal.

• Lead on the recruitment and retention of donors, especially Major Donors, and redevelop supporter journeys and stewardship programs. 

• Evaluate new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation, especially corporate and challenge events / community fundraising. 

• Impact reporting of fundraising activity and the performance of quarterly appeals, with a view to improve internal processes for greater income innovation and ROI.

• Liaise with the Free Tibet Campaigns & Research Teams to ensure that campaigning, digital and fundraising activities are seamlessly coordinated.

Job Description

Post Title: Young Women’s Worker
Location: The post will be based primarily at Kings College Hospital. However, all
Redthread team members must have a flexible approach to supporting other
sites across London when needed. There will be a need for regular visits to
Redthread’s main offices and other projects and activities that take place at
various locations across London and the UK.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The nature of Redthread’s work means that regular
evening and weekend working is required. You will be required to work shifts
to ensure that the team covers from 7:30 am to 9 pm each day between
them.

Salary: £29.767,50 per annum + benefits
Contract type: 12-month Fixed Term, with the possibility of extension.
DBS Check Required: Enhanced with barring (Child and Adult Workforce)
Work area: Young Women’s Service
Responsible to: Team Leader

Purpose of the Post

Work intensively with vulnerable young women in a trauma-informed way to promote their
well-being, safety and personal development.
