The International Organization for Migration in the United Kingdom (IOM UK) delivers a range of programming to support migrants, both in the UK and internationally, including projects focusing on labour migration, migration and development, protection, and community cohesion. 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) and direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator and in close coordination with the Regional Thematic Specialist  (RTS) at the Regional Office (RO) and relevant Divisions/Departments /Units at Headquarters (HQ), the Senior Project Manager will be responsible and accountable for managing, coordinating and overseeing the activities of the North Africa Migration and Development (NAMAD) project.

The NAMAD project aims to enhance skills and labour market integration for migrant and host communities, and to strengthen protection support for vulnerable migrants, in Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia. Based on the needs in each country context, IOM’s targeted interventions will address specific barriers and gaps by offering a range of skills development training, and by providing tailored humanitarian and protection for migrants in vulnerable situations. This will include provision of shelter, case management, multi-purpose cash assistance to meet basic needs, medical support, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) and legal counselling.

The incumbent will coordinate with country missions in delivery of project activities, monitoring and evaluation also liaise with external stakeholders on matters related to communications, project development and reporting, as well as may represent IOM in external forums and meetings.

What you will be doing

The Director of Fundraising will be a key member of our executive team reporting directly to the Secretary General. As our first Director of Fundraising, you will have the opportunity to build and develop your own team to help you deliver the fundraising strategy.

In taking forward the strategy, you will identify and articulate areas for support, research relevant funding potential and secure income through the development and execution of both the short and long-term fundraising strategy across the funding spectrum. You will have the confidence and experience to help us to deliver a longer-term strategic approach to continued fundraising, based on organisational and business objectives.

With our donor’s generous gift, we aim to build a thriving, major gifts programme which builds capacity and delivers a significant return on our donor’s investment. It is our aim to raise £15million over the next 4 years.

You will be responsible for building a fundraising team and leading fundraising in all areas, from major gifts relationships, completing complex bids to grant-making Trusts and Foundations and managing and utilising the skills of the Trustees and wider St John network.

You will build and maintain a network of supporters. This will require both organisational and bid-writing skills, as well as the ability to represent us, our work and all that we stand for in negotiations with partners, sponsors and major donors around the world.

1. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB

The Director of Fundraising will lead the continued development, co-ordination and delivery of our new fundraising strategy, to build and maintain philanthropic income.

The post holder will work under the direction of the Secretary General and Trustees to:

1. Deliver our new Fundraising Strategy which has been prepared, maximising resources through major donors, trusts and foundations, individual giving, corporates and legacies throughout the world.

2. Build a new fundraising team.

3. Act as an advocate and ambassador for the charity, building and prospecting new relationships with supporters, stakeholders and donors.

4. Work with colleagues to articulate and promote the charity’s unique message.

5. Mobilise potential supporters and advocates within our St John Family.

2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Work with the St John International team and trustees to deliver the innovative and varied fundraising strategy.

b) Create and manage fundraising:  major donors, trusts and foundations, corporates, and legacies across the organisation.

c) Monitor, collect and manage information on relevant sources of funding, including public and charitable funds, commissioning and procurement, and emerging opportunities for income generation.

d) Develop, implement and oversee quality control, evaluation and reporting procedures to ensure a high standard of bid submission, monitoring and reporting at all times.

e) Build relationships with major donors and maintain good stewardship of donors and funders. We expect our contributor base to include international donors, and not just those who may be UK-based.

f) Research and write high quality grant applications and proposals for support.

g) Develop, pitch and manage sponsorship proposals and presentations.

h) Work with colleagues to embed opportunities for fundraising and fundraising events through other areas of the charity’s work.

i) Attend networking events, prepare groundwork and establish connections to engage potential donors and develop opportunities.

j) Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the trustee board.

k) Identify opportunities to collaborate with global partners to secure additional efficiencies, benefits or increased resources, including the potential for joint fundraising approaches.

l) Ensure that appropriate health & safety standards are met for fundraising events, including the production of risk assessments and event plans.

m)  Ensure the fundraising office adheres to all required fundraising regulations in the UK.

We are offering an opportunity for a qualified Technical Specialist in Conservation Design & Impact to play a central role in delivering and supporting Fauna & Flora’s work to strengthen project design and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) to understand impact at project and organisational levels and strengthen conservation practice.

Your experience will include theory-based project design and MEL, and you will have knowledge of a breath of MEL approaches relevant to conservation work – including social, ecological, behavioural and capacity building. More practically, working closely with targeted project teams and other technical specialists, you will play a vital role in creating and implementing context-appropriate, pragmatic project MEL systems. This will include supporting project teams in the design of impact focused MEL based on the project’s Theory of Change, creation of holistic MEL framework and establishment of protocols for the collection, analysis and evaluation of data, and potentially conducting (or facilitating self-) evaluations of project data where relevant. These will all be considerate of the context of the project, ensuring that the time, skills, and funding investment needed is practical. Your skills will be grounded in practical experience of delivering conservation initiatives, and you will have direct experience of delivering MEL from design through to analysis, interpretation and management and use of gathered data.

You will also be experienced at building the capacity of others operating within varied resource constraints and contexts. This could include formal training, accompaniment and coaching. You will be able to think holistically and work collaboratively with project staff, partners, and other technical specialists from diverse disciplines to effectively embed enhanced MEL into conservation projects and to document and share learning. This will include the production of guidance materials, active participation in Communities of Practice, and facilitating peer learning and training.

Summary

Purpose
To provide administrative support to the CBM UK Programme Development Department, especially to its Programme Funding team; enabling efficient management of stakeholder relationships and submission of quality proposals to institutional donors. This support will contribute to the funding and effective delivery of disability-inclusive development and humanitarian programmes in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs).
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Programme Funding, the majority of the Programme Officer’s time will be spent supporting the Programme Funding team, which is part of the Programme Development (PD) Department.
Programme Funding, Programme Finance and Programme Management work very closely together as the PD Department, covering the whole Project Cycle including design, contracting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. As well as supporting Programme Funding (75-80% of the role), you will also support smooth running of other aspects of the PD Department (20-25%). To represent the latter, there is a ‘dotted line’ of reporting from the Programme Officer to both the Head of Programmes and the Director of Programme Impact. Full induction and internal training on all CBM UK-specific tasks, systems and processes will be provided.

Programme Funding Support (75-80%)
• Support scanning for suitable new funding opportunities, and create clear summaries of donor requirements.
• Keep the Programme Funding team, and each proposal development team1, highly organised, enabling efficient progress towards a submission deadline. This is likely to include:
o Real-time information management; clear filing, version control and communication
o Tracking progress against agreed actions; following up with reminders
o Using checklists to ensure all important steps are followed
o Facilitating adaptations to the proposal development plan
o Creating user-friendly templates and guidance
o Making arrangements for meetings
o Coordinating review processes.
• Provide practical administrative support to proposal development and stakeholder relationship-building, including:
o Online research about donor / geography / technical area / partners / competitors
o Formatting, proof-reading and/or editing to fit prescribed word / character limits
o Creation of tables, graphics, references from supplied data
o Checking compliance against donor requirements
o Arranging, recording and following up on meetings.
• Data management: Update and maintain Project Management System ‘Global Online’ with information relating to funding proposals, projects, donors and consortium partners (both current and prospective) – everything required prior to handover to Programme Management team for donor contract negotiations.
• Support efficiency and effectiveness of the Programme Funding Team through continual maintenance of and improvements to Programme Funding systems and processes, e.g. updating a proposal resource library.
• Manage provision of compliance information for due diligence processes and proposals as required by donors or consortium leads. Provide this service for other CBM UK teams as well as for the Programme Funding team, as required.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Head of Programme Funding, including support for internal reporting.
Programme Development (PD) Department support (20-25%)
• Make arrangements for events such as internal and external meetings (including recording actions / minutes, and providing for any accessibility requirements), training courses and team building, regular learning sessions, team travel (including bookings and expenses) and occasional international workshops (mostly online).

• Lead on knowledge management for Programme Development (PD) Department including updating PD Handbook and maintaining MS Teams site.
• Support the Director of Programme Impact and Head of Programmes with internal reporting processes; sourcing and collating information.
• Facilitate responses to enquiries about CBM programmes from the public or other teams, and facilitate communication with other CBM UK departments.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Director of Programme Impact, or Head of Programmes, including providing ‘surge support’ to Programme Managers. This could include:
o Practical support for adaptation to new or improved systems / processes
o Preparing materials for presentations or papers for meetings

Other
• Work with other teams to maximise cross fertilisation opportunities and integrated working.

Direct Marketing Manager-Acquisition at the Disasters Emergency Committee delivers key direct marketing activities during appeals for major disasters. You will work with the Direct Marketing Manager-Retention to deliver a programme of supporter communications to feedback to donors on the impact of their donations and to retain their future support. 

The purpose of the role is to:

• Contribute to and develop DEC direct marketing strategies,
• Implement the direct marketing strategies during each appeal with income maximisation and supporter acquisition as the key focus,
• Manage the capturing and analysis of results to ensure channel optimisation between appeals,
• Lead the benchmarking process of DEC Member Agency fundraising performance.

The role will deliver responsibilities for strategy and planning, fundraising, networking and building relationships.

You must have strong direct marketing experience with a focus on high volume donor acquisition. Demonstrable knowledge of offline marketing techniques in press, outdoor, direct mail and telephone. A proven track record of developing effective digital and direct marketing strategies, which resulted in significant growth of income. Experience of managing complex budgets and proven ability to manage a complex operational plan within very short timeframes and within budget.

Ideally you will have experience of working in the international humanitarian aid sector, have used Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Google analytics.

You must have excellent communication skills both written and spoken, with the ability to write compelling and emotive fundraising copy. Significant technical marketing expertise across a range of direct marketing channels. Excellent numeracy, budget development, planning and project management skills.

An ability to work under extreme pressure during appeals and to very tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail is a key driver for success in this role.

This is a new and strategically important position in a growing team. Our advocacy - the use of information and evidence to drive change in policy, practices and attitudes - and the effective engagement of target audiences to stimulate action, is at the core of our success in forging a fairer water future. 

As a senior member of the Public and Political Engagement team, the Advocacy and Engagement Manager will work closely with our Research and Operations teams, and partners across Africa, Asia and South America. They will engage with decision makers in government, business, financial institutions, multi-lateral and network organisations, local and international NGOs, and the media, to advance evidence-based solutions to the conjoined global crises of water, climate, nature and inequality.   

In particular, they will play a key role in our Fair Water Footprints Campaign and the wider delivery of the Glasgow Declaration for Fair Water Footprints. With new funding from the UK Government’s Just Transitions for Water Security Programme, these game changing initiatives seek to end the abuse of water in our supply chains, and to establish responsible water stewardship as the global business norm by 2030 so that trade and business accelerate, rather than undermine, shared water security.  This will be achieved through mobilising the power of scientific evidence and citizen voices to trigger change in government policies, corporate practices, financial disclosure, and political and public expectations.  The choreography and delivery of this change will be a core focus of the successful candidate’s work.

The International Network on Explosive Weapons is an international network of NGOs that calls for immediate action to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

INEW and the purpose of the network 

INEW members engage in research, policy and advocacy to promote greater understanding of the issues that arise from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas, and concrete steps that can be taken to address it. INEW member organisations develop partnerships calling for improved government policy and operational practice at a national level, and work together to develop stronger standards internationally. This includes efforts to advance universalisation and implementation of the Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences Arising from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas, the first formal international recognition that the use of explosive weapons in populated areas is the leading cause of civilian casualties in armed conflict, and that this must be addressed urgently and directly.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Coordination

• Collaborate and work closely with the INEW Steering Committee and sub-committees. 

• Facilitate network meetings, promotion of positive working relations amongst the INEW members, staff and the wider INEW network.

• Develop coalition strategies and action plans and facilitate communication within the INEW network. 

• Manage INEW programme of activities (calendar of global events and INEW’s engagement in those.

• Develop INEW’s multi-year strategic plans to guide the network in setting its objectives, with staff and membership input and INEW Steering Committee approval;

• Lead the implementation of strategy, including through the development of advocacy and communication work plans.

• Ensure INEW produces high quality and relevant written content including advocacy briefs.

Lobbying and advocacy

• Represent INEW (as appropriate) in the media, at conferences and in other fora.

• Implement strategic advocacy (keeping issues high on agenda).

• Effective lobbying of governments, UN agencies and international organisations.

Staff management

• Ensure that the staff has sufficient guidance and professional advice on matters to fulfil their responsibilities.

• Lead, manage and support employees to maximise their potential and personal contributions.

• Build effective working relationships with members of the Steering Committee and subcommittees, and lead and ensure effective liaison between INEW / Explosive weapons monitor staff team and the Steering Committee, including regular convening of staff meetings and reports to Steering Committee as required.

• Provide direction and support to all staff in the development and implementation of work plans.

Financial management and donor liaison

• Develop a funding strategy to ensure income is maintained, and that the donor base and levels of support for core costs and projects increases.

• Establish and maintain positive relations with donors, including governments and private foundations.

• Ensure that INEW complies with all legal and financial regulations.

• Ensure that funding proposals and budgets are produced and submitted.

• Ensure expenditure is controlled in line with budgets and that risks are identified and managed.

• Effective management of donor contracts, oversight of grant cycles to ensure timely preparation and submission of reports and proposals.

• Write funding proposals.

Location: Flexible location/work from home, with a preference for Europe because frequent travel to Geneva is required.

Travel: This post will require some travel (monthly), but most work will be remote. INEW will cover travel costs.

Article 36 is the current coordinating organisation for International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) and the Explosive Weapons Monitor, working to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. 

Article 36 is a specialist non-profit organisation, focused on reducing harm from weapons. A small and effective team, we work together with civil society partners and governments to develop new policies and legal standards to prevent civilian harm from existing and emerging weapons.

The Legal Officer will conduct advocacy to achieve PI’s goals. This will include legal, policy, research, outreach and public engagement initiatives as PI formulates new and creative ways to demand change globally, including working with our partners across the world.

Essentials
Experiences

• Experience working with international human rights standards and/or national rights frameworks, including enforcing them.
• Experience working with data protection regulations, including enforcing them or ensuring organisational compliance.
• Law degree or equivalent postgraduate diploma in any jurisdiction.
• Admitted/qualified to practice in any jurisdiction.

Purpose of the Position 

This role is central to driving and expanding our fundraising efforts through the strategic cultivation and stewardship of trusts and foundation relationships. This position is instrumental in identifying and securing sustainable funding sources to support World Bicycle Relief’s mission, ensuring that more people are mobilised through the Power of Bicycles.

This role requires a strong partnership with the UK Managing Director, ensuring that fundraising strategies are robustly executed and aligned with organisational goals.

The ideal candidate will be eager to work with a small, but impactful UK team while collaborating with a dynamic international team of change champions, dedicated to transforming lives through The Power of Bicycle.

WBR has distributed over 870,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained over 3,350 community-based mechanics. Our impact is clear: girls with Buffalo Bicycles boost their school attendance by almost a third; health care workers see nearly twice as many patients each day and 80% of households using a Buffalo bicycle report higher incomes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborative Strategy Execution: Works closely with the UK Managing Director, incorporating programmatic priorities for developing key funding partnerships, to align and execute the trusts and foundations fundraising strategy.
• Strategic Growth & Income Diversification: Supports the development of and executes a growth strategy to increase trust and foundation income, leveraging both existing and new opportunities, including institutional fundraising and government funding where relevant.
• Prospecting & Pipeline Development: Proactively identifies, researches, and cultivates new trust and foundation prospects to expand the current portfolio and drive significant new revenue growth in alignment with fundraising targets.
• Relationship Management & Stewardship: Establishes, nurtures, and manages strong relationships with trust and foundation donors, ensuring tailored engagement, timely reporting, and strategic alignment with donor priorities to maximize long-term support.
• Proposal & Fund Development: Leads the development and submission of compelling funding proposals to generate revenue, while ensuring collaboration with the global proposal development enablement function for high-value (£100k+) opportunities. Edits concepts, proposals, pitch decks and stewardships materials. 
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with WBR’s global Development & Marcomm and proposal development team to source insights, data, and programmatic information that strengthen proposals and enhance donor engagement, ensuring UK efforts align with international fundraising strategies.
• Other duties as assigned.
