We’re IPWSO, the international umbrella body for Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) associations around the world.
- We build communities between people with Prader-Willi syndrome, their families and the professionals who support them to share knowledge and expertise and improve outcomes for people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families everywhere.
- We want everyone with Prader-Willi syndrome to get equal access to diagnosis and treatment no matter where in the world they live and to ensure better, more consistent outcomes for people with the syndrome and their families.
- We work to ensure research into the condition works for everyone and reflects the diverse experiences and environments of those living with the syndrome around the world today.
- Our membership comprises PWS associations in 47 countries and we support individual families and professionals in over 70 other countries.
- We have a staff team of four who work in conjunction with dedicated volunteers from around the world.
Key Fundraising Responsibilities
- Develop communications content that will invigorate our existing donors and inspire new ones leading to increased giving by individuals to IPWSO.
- Focusing in particular on our website and social media channels, communicate our achievements, impacts and needs with a view to influencing IPWSO’s online supporters to make donations and engage in fundraising initiatives.
- Provide outstanding donor care to encourage a high level of retention and repeat donations.
- Work with IPWSO’s Fundraising Committee on a variety of fundraising initiatives, which may include a new collaborative global fundraiser to be rolled out in 2025.
- Act as the organisational lead for IPWSO’s CRM (Donorfy) and utilise it to improve the donor journey.
- Develop a robust pipeline of case studies for use in our fundraising campaigns.
Key Communications Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for IPWSO’s public email address and social media channels and ensure that timely and appropriate replies are issued.
- Manage IPWSO’s social media channels, creating original and engaging posts, and actively engaging with our audiences.
- Manage Google Ad Grant campaigns with an emphasis on growing our supporter base and increasing individual giving.
- Keep up to date with emerging trends in digital communications and social media, and recommend potential new channels for fundraising and audience engagement.
- Maintain and develop the IPWSO website ensuring its security and that it functions both as an effective supporter acquisition tool and a means by which people can easily access information about PWS.
- Produce compelling monthly newsletters and an Annual Report.
- Review and update IPWSO’s Communications Strategy in line with its Strategic Plan.
- Uphold and showcase the IPWSO mission and brand.
- Working with IPWSO’s Publication and Communication Committee, oversee the production and design of a range of educational resources for families and professionals.
- Oversee copywriting and proofreading within IPWSO.
- Support IPWSO’s members and liaise with its stakeholders internationally in support of our shared goals.

The Development team at Pembroke College plays a pivotal role in advancing the College’s mission by securing critical financial resources and fostering a culture of philanthropy and donor stewardship, contributing significantly to the growth and success of the College.
We are looking for maternity cover for eight months for the role of Senior Alumni Relations Officer, responsible for building and strengthening relationships between Pembroke and its alumni and other supporters. This includes engagement activities such as events, supporting the Alumni Ambassador network, contributing to alumni communications and publications, and acting as a point of contact for the College’s alumni.
The main duties to be carried out by the post-holder include:
Alumni Relations
- Manage administration of the alumni volunteers through the Alumni Ambassador network and Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) alongside the Chair of the AAB, providing approved College updates and reports in a collaborative and effective manner.
- Ensure regular alumni communications and marketing for events and engagement opportunities are of the highest calibre and take advantage of the great breadth of content available through Fellow, staff, student, and alumni sources.

- Educate current students about alumni benefits and develop opportunities for students to interact with alumni and supporters so that students become engaged alumni as well as future donors.
- Provide ad hoc tours of College for groups of visiting alumni.
- Ensure that Alumni Relations supports opportunities for the identification and cultivation of alumni prospects.
Events
- Organise events from initial ideas to final feedback, with a variety of goals and objectives including alumni engagement, stewardship and fundraising.
- Work with colleagues, alumni and Fellows to identify new events to appeal to underserved segments of the alumni, parent, student, and other communities.
- Attend events and ensure they are run smoothly and professionally.
- Coordinate High Table dinner bookings for alumni.
Internal collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the wider team and colleagues across Pembroke, supporting work outside your functional area where necessary.
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Development Director, which may include travel and event attendance outside standard working hours, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Key responsibilities
Communications

- Have a major role in development of Scan, our twice-yearly physical magazine
- Develop excellent relationships with key internal stakeholders at all levels by providing direction and support for all TSA teams in their communications needs, such as reviewing and editing fundraising and research materials
- Proactively identify and fulfil opportunities to raise awareness of TSC in the broader media, such as newspapers and other media
Events
- Manage and oversee all aspects of TSA face-to-face events. Our events include the annual community event ‘Big Day’, and our annual event for adults mildly affected by TSC (called ‘Outlook’)
- Manage and oversee our range of monthly virtual events. Including bookings, forward planning and ongoing calendar management of future events and speakers
- Maintain calendar(s) of internal and external events
- Ensure risk assessments and safeguarding policies are applied appropriately
Strategic support
- Provide support into the overall communications and events strategy of the charity, including annual implementation plans

About the role
The main purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery of a broad and engaging PR and communications strategy for the BSA, and several of its programmes, to raise the profile of the organisation’s work and its spokespeople.

About you

Commonweal is an independent charity working to investigate, pilot and champion housing based solutions to social injustice. Using our charitable resources, we provide experts and partner organisations with the opportunity to trial and test new approaches designed to enhance housing equality and justice. Independently evaluating each of our projects we share our experiences, using this learning to inspire new thinking. Through the replication of what works and the lessons from what doesn’t, we influence changes in policy and practice. In addition, we commission other research identifying and spotlighting new areas of housing injustice.
As Policy and Communications Manager, reporting directly to the CEO and working as part of and alongside our project leads you will formulate our policy messages. You will help lead on stakeholder engagement and growing the understanding across our sector of who Commonweal are and what we can offer. You will shape and then develop and deliver the strategy for effectively communicating our growing range of positive project findings and aligning our PR to public policy research initiatives. You will need to have experience of the voluntary and community sector as well public policy, the political environment and its current and potential implications for the charity. - Working with and advising the Commonweal Executive Team to establish positive links with Parliamentarians, civil servants and others to ensure our communications and policy messages are heard and understood in the right palces.
- Work with colleagues and external partners to ensure project reports are accessible, meaningful and impactful within the policy arena
- Work with sector experts and project delivery partners to raise the profile of social injustices identified by our projects to support existing or developing campaigns
- Maintain an up to date and coherent map of stakeholders and opportunities for influence from Commonweal’s work and learning
- Work with the CEO, DCEO and Senior Programme Manager to horizon scan for future opportunities for Commonweal and/or partners and projects
- Be Commonweal’s key point of contact with the University of Birmingham for whom we sponsor a third-year student bursary for the School of Social Policy – engaging with the student bursary awardees and presenting annually to second year students about the bursary opportunity
- Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of the growing social investment market and the opportunity this offers for the replication of Commonweal supported projects

1. Represent and promote the image of the charity at both internal and external events and maintain a good working relationship with suppliers, service users, external stakeholders and other charities.
2. Promote Equal Opportunities, particularly with regard to service delivery, decision making processes and working practices.
3. Undertake all duties in accordance with Commonweal’s policies and procedures.
4. Carry out any appropriate duties as directed by the Chief Executive.
