About the Advocacy team:
You will be working as part of the Advocacy & Government Relations team in the Advocacy & Influence Directorate. The team is made up of 8 members who work across the whole of the UK speaking up for cats. Our campaigns change laws to better protect the health and welfare of cats.
What we’re looking for in our Advocacy and Government Relations Officer for Wales:
- Experience of advocacy, public affairs or influencing work (which may include campaigns), ideally in Wales
- Lives within a commutable distance of Cardiff or willing to relocate to the area
- Experience of policy work and research
- Experience of dealing with high profile/ VIP individuals e.g. Ministers, MSs, MPs, MSPs, MLAs, Government Officials, Local Councillors and officers, corporate executives; professional organisations
- Proven ability to multi-task and work independently on own initiative, accurately and under pressure
- Experience of effective use of social media and the internet in an advocacy/campaign context

About the role
From local and national support services to green spaces, sports clubs, museums and the arts, voluntary organisations and volunteers are a vital part of communities across the country. As the membership community for charities and voluntary organisations, NCVO has championed volunteers and the voluntary sector for over a hundred years.
The Senior Practical Support Officer role is key to the delivery of NCVO’s support for small charities. You will be a key part of a small team, with a focus on managing and responding to enquiries that come in via phone and email to our Small Charity Helpdesk. We receive 400 – 500 enquiries a month about setting up and running a charity, with a particular focus on volunteering and governance.
Alongside the helpdesk you will also work with colleagues across NCVO on the production, and curation of content for our website and with internal and external stakeholders to produce sector leading practical webinars.
You will have a particular focus on volunteering, working with multiple stakeholders on a range of cross-organisational initiatives to ensure we develop and share best practice on involving volunteers.
Your good working knowledge of the voluntary sector, understanding of the specific needs of small charities and sharp focus on delivering excellent customer service will help us to effectively respond to the needs of the sector.
This is fast paced role and with good time management and attention to detail this role has a lasting/meaningful impact on the hundreds of charities we support.

Grants Manager-Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

The Ukraine Humanitarian appeal raised £426 million and helped an estimated 6.9 million people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The Grants Manager is integral in working closely with DEC colleagues and members to build and sustain, a solid understanding of the evolving humanitarian context. The Grants Manager will maintain strong oversight of the DEC funded programme including the reporting cycle, adaptive programming and facilitate strong and relevant engagement with DEC member charities and local partners and external briefings over the duration of the response.
Key responsibilities:
Communication and Collaboration
· Key programmes point of contact regarding the DEC funded programme, responding to enquiries from member charity programmes and other related staff, facilitating timely and accurate communication.
· Maintain strong understanding of response context.
· Manage and provide timely, response briefings to internal and external audiences, key stakeholders including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office [FCDO] and, other key stakeholders.
Analysis and Reporting

· Share timely and relevant information and analysis from plans and reports with DEC member charities and local partners.

· Coordinate the team’s surge capacity to deliver points above, which may involve managing and inducting a team of external consultants and training them in the use of our knowledge management system [Box].
· Coordinate with the Programme Quality, Accountability & Learning team to ensure monitoring, learning and accountability initiatives are timely and appropriate to the response.
· Support with real-time reviews, community perception studies and other related MEAL activities.

The Role
The Drive Partnership works across the domestic abuse specialist sector, public sector partners and beyond to develop sustainable, national systems in England and Wales that respond effectively to all perpetrators of domestic abuse. Job Title: Chief Finance Officer

Role Description
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will lead in the development and implementation of the Cathedral's financial strategy and objectives, providing expert financial guidance and support to Chapter and senior colleagues to develop strategy to deliver Chapter's vision. The postholder will ensure law and regulatory compliance and that all aspects of financial planning and management are conducted to provide accurate, relevant and timely financial information to the Cathedral, Chapter and St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
The CFO will play a lead role in advising the Chair of Finance and Chapter. They will attend all Chapter and Finance Committee meetings.
The CFO is a member of the Cathedral's Senior Management Team and will deputise for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on occasions.
Key Responsibilities
The CFO will support the Facilities Manager in the development of the Cathedral's Property portfolio and our Net Zero Carbon Strategy.
Strategic:
- Overall responsibility for the finance function ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of management accounts, budgets and cashflow reports and annual accounts for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
- Work with the COO and senior members of staff and clergy in developing the Cathedral’s commercial strategy and delivery of Cathedral Master Plan.
- Providing strategic business planning support to all commercial and charitable operations.
- Be a part of the Senior Management Team taking a leadership role across the whole of the organisation, supporting Chapter and Heads of Departments, and working constructively with the COO and Chair of Finance, Finance committee and Risk Audit and Review committee.
- Proactively asses the impacts on finances to identify and mitigate any significant risks

- Oversee the introduction of a coherent pay scale for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
Operational:
- Line manage and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the effective management of the Cathedral finances including areas such as payroll and pensions.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end reports and financial statements for the Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manger to review the presentation of our Annual Report and Accounts.
- Produce and oversee the annual budget.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Responsible for ensuring an effective routine of internal and external audit.
- Helping Chapter with the process for re-tendering for new auditors from time to time.
- Oversight of the various requirement of HMRC, including VAT, PAYE, and NI.

- To ensure that the Cathedral's restricted funds and investments are effectively managed and accessible to support cash flow or key projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, financial policies, regulations and all relevant legal frameworks, together with appropriate management and financial controls and reconciliations are in place, and that the Cathedral has effective banking arrangements.
- Critically assess whether the Cathedral’s accounting software SAGE is appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Support departments across the Cathedral with project development by advising on financial and commercial plans and help develop capital projects and generate business cases and financial forecasts for major developments, undertaking effective tendering for works, and to fulfil the reporting requirements, and their terms and conditions, for donors and grant-making bodies.
- Work with the COO to effectively manage contracts held by the Cathedral (e.g. maintenance, utilities, IT, etc) and ensure value for money.
- Be the lead liaison on the Cathedral’s relationship with our Bankers, Insurers and Investment Managers.
- To support the COO and Director of Enterprises in ensuring that the activities carried out by Enterprises are properly costed, and that all business plans are robust, generating positive returns, with stocks correctly accounted for, reducing the risks wherever possible.
- To ensure the Cathedral invests and prioritises its commitment to the Cathedral's Net Zero strategy.
Governance:
- Attend Chapter meetings and provide regular written and verbal reports.
- Work with the Chair of Finance, Dean and COO to ensure that management information is presented in a transparent way that enables strategic decisions to be taken by Chapter.

About the role
We’re looking for a motivated, communicative, and knowledgeable Public Affairs Officer to join our Policy and Influencing Team, to help us achieve the positive change children and young people with cancer across the UK, and their families, need in the health system. At Variety, the Children's Charity, we believe every child has a right to live their best life and reach their full potential. We fund and deliver life-changing programs that give disabled and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK a better future. 2024 is our 75th year in the UK, and we are part of a global network that has raised and donated close to £1.6 billion to positively impact the lives of children in need.
We are one of the most well-recognised and trusted charities as a result of this illustrious track record. Today, in the UK we have a team of 20 dedicated staff, which will grow over the next 12 months, who support our work and an enviable network of committed supporters and volunteers across the country.
We’re not content to rest on our laurels – we have recently completed a leadership transition that will provide the strategic and operational foundation for the charity to be more effective than ever. We plan to double our income in the next three years and grow our support for children and young people across the UK.
To do this, we need a dynamic, forward-thinking fundraiser who can engage effectively with staff, Trustees, volunteers, donors, and beneficiaries. Someone who knows how to make the most of the unparalleled showbiz and business networks our trustees bring to the organisation. Who can demonstrate a deep understanding of fundraising, a commitment to achieving ambitious financial targets, the ability to lead by being fully accessible to various stakeholders and can actively participate in key Variety events, including the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, Variety Props Awards and the Variety Disability Sports Awards. Success in the role will make a huge difference to the lives of the children and young people we support as well as putting our new Director on the map.
