We’re looking for a UX designer and researcher to join the Service Design team on a permanent contract.

We’re a small team of 14 who are committed to growing user-centred design skills and best practice across the organisation.

We want someone with skills in both UX design and user research. The ideal candidate would have experience in roles such as UX Design, Interaction Design, and User Research.

We need someone that has the ideas and confidence to lead a team, and influence how we do things. And if you’re comfortable working across a service and tackling exciting design challenges, you’re ticking all the right boxes.

Location: We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and location will be agreed with the successful candidate. Our team works from home most of the time. We meet up in-person every 6-8 weeks. Some project teams choose to meet up more often. We have offices in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Newcastle and Newtown.

You will be working in a supportive, friendly, and welcoming team whilst having oversight of a caseload of women, who may be under the supervision of the National Probation Service or in custody, enhancing the offer of holistic support and advocacy services available to them throughout their journey.

Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.

Senior Quality Assurance Officer

Location: Remote (UK based) with travel required

Who are Women’s Aid?

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

 

Purpose of the Senior Quality Assurance Officer role: 

As Senior Quality Assurance Officer, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting and innovating Women’s Aid’s National Quality Standards (NQS) offer for member services. Sitting within Women’s Aid’s busy Membership Team, the postholder will successfully lead in supporting member services to continually improve and evidence good quality specialist responses to survivors’ needs in local service provision and will support the internal team alongside external consultant assessors to deliver a strong quality framework that reflects the diversity, and complex work of our members.  A key time for Women’s Aid to connect our policy work, our membership and our strategic campaigning work around the standards that fully represents the unique value of the membership body. 

 

Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Quality Assurance Officer:

• To be responsible for the coordination of delivery of Women’s Aid National Quality Standards assessments including ensuring assessment processes are completed in a timely manner. 
• Scheduling Quality Assessment Panels including recruitment of panelists. This will include responsibility for ensuring terms of reference are fulfilled and ensuring potential conflicts of interest are identified and addressed. 
• Presenting assessments to the Quality Assessment Panel in the unavoidable absence of the assessor and notetaking including recording outcomes, actions and decisions where required.
• To support the Chair of the Quality Assessment Panel in conducting panel meetings and highlight areas of risk or conflict to the Chair in advance of meetings.
• Be first point of contact for dealing with appeals and complaints, managing low to middle-risk complaints and escalating to the Membership Resolution Manager as required for high risk complaints. 
• Responsibility for allocation of assessments to internal and consultant assessors ensuring target dates are met and operational considerations, such as location and conflict of interests, are considered. 
•  To conduct quality standards assessments of domestic abuse services, including reviewing evidence, making site visits, writing assessment reports and presenting cases to the Quality Assessment Panel.
• Review of assessment reports for quality, adherence to standards and consistency prior to presentation at Quality Assessment Panel, including giving feedback to the assessor and ensuring this is actioned.
• Develop a clear strategy and delivery plans to support the sustainability and growth of the Women’s Aid National Quality standards including supporting increase of income-generation activities.
• Line management of Quality Assurance Officer including day-to-day support, supervision and appraisal activities.
• To work across WAFE to promote the Women’s Aid National Quality Standards to commissioners and government as the ‘gold standard’ quality framework for services working with women and child survivors of domestic violence.  

What we are looking for in our Senior Quality Assurance Officer:

• Knowledge of quality frameworks appropriate to domestic violence services.  
• Knowledge and proven experience of the principles of quality assurance and good practice in delivering accreditation processes.   
• A very good understanding of the experiences and needs of women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence and violence against women and girls and the intersectionality that impacts this
• Thorough understanding of the role of specialist services supporting women and children at risk of violence against women and girls   
• Experience of writing and producing briefings and reports   
• Experience of planning, delivering and managing projects within a set timeframe and with clear outputs.  
• Experience of providing and/or managing direct services to survivors of violence against women and girls.   
• Excellent verbal, written and computer literacy skills.   
• Ability to analyse complex information and identify the implications for women and children affected by domestic violence and the services supporting them.

• Have direct experience of the barriers that society creates for disabled people. Bringing drive and enthusiasm to the role, demonstrating that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people.

As a Stock Transport Driver, you will be responsible for moving donations, including clothing for Scope Retail Area 18 across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

You will deliver a great customer experience to our donators when collecting or delivering donations. 

We will ask you to keep your vehicle and stock secure plus plan for routine maintenance and repairs.

About you

As a Scope Stock Transport Driver, you’ll need a full, clean driving licence with a willingness to undertake relevant training.

You’ll enjoy delivering great customer service and have a professional, courteous manner with the general public.

You must also be able to able to lift heavy and/or bulky items and happy to be trained in the use of lifting equipment for very heavy items.

You’ll enjoy being out and about working outdoors, in all weathers, travelling far and wide in your area.

About the team

Our Lived Experience Insight Team’s aim is to ensure that the views of those affected by the housing emergency shape and influence all of Shelter’s work. People with lived experience are involved in a range of different ways, through forums and events in local communities, sharing their story as part of campaigns, and speaking out about the issues that affect them. This helps ensure that our services and campaigns are developed alongside local communities and so that lived experience informs everything we do.

About the role

This is an exciting role within our Lived Experience Insight team where you will be involved in developing and co-ordinating an impactful involvement and coproduction programme that helps us to deliver meaningful opportunities for people with lived experiences. We’ll rely on you to influence and shape the work that Shelter does by influencing culture change across the organisation and improving our practices around Lived Experience Insight in line with our strategic aims. You’ll not only lead elements of our Strategic Plan, but you’ll also support our colleagues across teams to develop their practice through design, delivery of training, resources and project support.  

You’ll be line managing a small team of our Lived Experience Coordinators to support them in delivering our programmes across their region that aligns to local strategic priorities. Ensuring that you and your team develop and deliver monitoring tools will help us to make continuous improvements to the work we do both on a local scale and across the nation. And as part of this role, we’ll count on you to provide wellbeing support to all those involved with Shelter, ensuring a high quality experience when working closely with participants and supporting their personal development.  

About you 

You’ll have an understanding of how lived experience of bad housing or homelessness can impact an individual, and the ability to support individuals in sharing their insights  and experiences. What’s more, is your experience of people management means you are great at supporting your team to plan and coordinate multiple complex projects and activities across your region, with an ability to prioritise workload. You’ll have proven ability to facilitate training, workshops, webinars or coproduction activities with  people with lived experience, while ensuring a safe and inclusive space where everybody can contribute. You’re adept at developing successful relationships not only with colleagues at Shelter, but also local organisations and partners too, with the ability to influence and collaborate.

We are looking for an enthuiastic and driven Head of Fundraising and Development who has a strong track record of success in strategic development and management of six-figure funding partnerships and relationship building.

You will develop and foster relationships with the aim of obtaining financial support for the sustainable development and growth of QEST. Stewarding existing funders and developing new business, the role also presents an opportunity over the long term, once funding is secured, to lead and build a fundraising team at a transformational time in QEST’s development and strategic direction.  There is currently a Fundraising Manager.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with the CEO and Fundraising Manager to devise, develop, and deliver a fundraising strategy for QEST to achieve diversification of income (restricted and unrestricted) for the long term with a particular focus on:

o Trusts & Foundations (strong track-record)

o Corporate funders

o Statutory funders

o Sponsors/commercial partners

o Major donors and philanthropy

• Reporting to the CEO and Board of Trustees you will secure and maintain sustainable income streams, in line with agreed targets which meet our charitable objectives, focusing on six-figure+ strategic partnerships where possible
•  Developing a communications strategy for fundraising with the CEO and Communications Manager; as well as creating fundraising promotional material for print, newsletters, websites and other media as required
• Establishing transparent and open reporting protocols, working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager to meet the needs of financial reporting, forecasting, management accounts and the Annual Review
• Working closely with the CEO, Fundraising Manager and Board members, partners and supporters to develop partnerships and advocate for QES
• Working with the Project Manager to create and organise fundraising-specific activities and events
• Identifying commercial opportunities, nurturing and converting potential prospects in support of specific activities, projects and overheads
• Cultivating, building, optimising and managing relationships with existing and new funders, sponsors, partners and supporters
• Writing and compiling regular reports to funders, sponsors and partners as required
• Providing on-going reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees on fundraising income, goals, and initiatives

As Campaigns Manager for Communities, you will ensure that our campaigners around the UK have a meaningful experience with Save the Children UK, building localised campaigns and networks for realising children's rights. You will be a strong leader and manage a small team of campaigners working across our key strategic focus areas.

In this role, you will:  

• Lead Save the Children UK's campaign strategy to engage and build our communities and organising work. 
• Lead the development and implementation of campaigning and organising projects that are engaging, impactful and deliver our strategic objectives. 
• Work closely with mission colleagues to ensure that their work represents campaigning and organising best practice and innovation, and with Fundraising & Marketing colleagues to deliver our Supporter Engagement strategy.
• Ensure the direct reports are given clear direction, strong performance management, support, feedback and development opportunities. 
• Responsible for providing coherent and meaningful experience for our supporters across the missions and other areas of SCUK's work.
• Lead a community of practice in the team that keeps abreast of best practice and external trends and innovates to maximise impact for children.

Sitting within the broader Student Voice Department (alongside the Advice Team), you would lead a friendly, talented team of four permanent Student Voice Coordinators (SVCs) who together account for all of the Union’s policy, democratic, representation and campaigning work, alongside a part-time member of student staff.

Variety is hard-wired into the role. In addition to overseeing policy and research output, you would be responsible for leading a democratic and governance structure that is so innovative it is currently the source of an international academic study. Accountabilities here would include delivery of our biannual student elections and sector-leading Student Panels.

You would also be responsible for leading on how we support our elected student representatives and campaign groups; and for the Union’s academic representation work.

Given the breadth of work undertaken within the team, expect there to be plenty of opportunities to grow, develop and pick up new skills outside of the main responsibilities of the role.

We’ve seen some incredibly significant changes in Shelter over the past four years, with a radical shift in our organisational strategy and the consequent need to change our ways of working fundamentally. About the role

This is an exciting new role within our Internal Communications and Engagement team, reporting to the Head of Internal Communication and Engagement, you’ll be responsible for not only supporting Shelter in engaging people in our strategy and the work we do, but also helping to build and shape our organisational culture.

We’ll rely on you to contribute to the development of Shelter’s listening strategy as well as designing and managing a range of listening opportunities that can maximise upward communication. About you

You’ll have experience of designing and delivering internal communications and engagement plans, as well as being able to implement a range of techniques to engage diverse audiences in organisational change. You’ll know what drives engagement, how to nurture strengths and deliver areas for improvement. What’s more, you’ll have knowledge about developing and integrating organisational values and behaviours and you’ll have experience of implementing listening strategies, including managing a framework of tools to capture views.

You’re adept at developing excellent relationships and can interact effectively with diverse internal audiences. You’ll be confident in devising research, analysing data and creating summary reports. As well as having experience of managing projects and producing events, you’ll also have advanced digital skills and knowledge of tools to communicate effectively. We are looking for a high performing leader, who will be able to develop marketing strategies, manage a large marcomms team and offer strategic advice to senior management.

Who we’re looking for:

As the Head of Marketing, you will be responsible for developing The Brain Tumour Charity brand, devising new, and building on strong existing awareness campaigns and leading on capacity and marketing planning for integrated campaigns across The Charity.

You’ll help bring strategic thinking to the Marketing Team and be part of an Extended Leadership Team, balancing the needs of your own department with those of the wider mission and organisation whilst also supporting and developing your team.

You’ll oversee all branding activity to help us advance our mission and will be required to work closely with the fundraising and CX teams in The Charity to help deliver a sustainable model for funding and engagement.

You’ll be an experienced marketing professional with a good understanding of defining audience segmentations and building brand awareness, ideally within the health / research charity space.

Key accountabilities:

· Work with the Director of External Affairs and Strategy to  develop and lead marketing activity for all  parts of The Charity

· Manage design, copy and campaigns functions within the charity, including capacity planning and execution

· Build strong strategic relationships both inside and outside of the organisation, to form networks that will assist with the delivery our overall mission

· Develop and grow the brand with exciting new ideas that will meet our mission and raise our profile

· Work with the Extended Leadership Team to offer strategic advice to  contribute to the wider direction of The Charity

· Stay current with legal and regulatory frameworks, including; Data Protection legislation and the Code of Fundraising Practice, to ensure that all campaigns comply with current best practice in the industry

3. To network effectively with voluntary and statutory agencies to promote the needs of the clients. Working with clients so that they have the knowledge, understanding and skills to access services, support and to improve their mental wellbeing and resilience. To refer to other agencies where possible if they are not eligible for the service

4. To assist clients with benefits and housing and employment to increase income and opportunities to be suitably housed, keeping up to date with the Social Security system and housing legislation, ensuring that clients are referred for specialist advice where appropriate.

5. Focus on client involvement ensuring that clients have their views heard and that the needs and wishes of service users have an impact on the services they receive.

6. Work as part of the Housing and Tenancy Support (HATS) Team and the wider Newport staff team to develop and deliver activities that achieve positive outcomes for migrants in Newport.

7. Ensure all work is recorded and monitored and contribute to evaluating the service.

8. Work in accordance with best practice, legal requirements, the policies of Mind in Gwent, and the policies outlined by the funders.

9. Share models of good practice to aid in organisational development across Mind in Gwent.

10.  To contribute to the work of other projects and teams of Newport Mind as when required or directed to provide cover or to develop new skills or take on new opportunities.
