To be successful in this role, you will be a chartered accountant with excellent strategic finance skills gained at a leadership level, including substantial prior experience in P&L management, financial modelling and project accounting in a fast-paced environment.  You will also bring strong controls and governance experience, with an understanding of what good looks like in finance.  With exceptional relationship building skills, you will be a trusted advisor to staff at all levels and confident in presenting to influential internal and external stakeholders.  While we welcome candidates from all backgrounds, we are particularly interested in those who bring blended sector experience across commercial and social enterprise or charity settings.  Experience of working in a project-based or consulting environment is also beneficial, especially with organisations that work closely with the public sector.

When someone sustains a spinal cord injury, it is a life changing experience.

Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, major trauma centres and hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.

As a Regional Coordinator, you will build relationships and take ownership for what happens in your geographical area. This role is based in Scarborough, supporting victims living in the North Yorkshire area

As an IVA you will:

• Work directly with adults and children who have been impacted by crime, assessing support needs and completing risk assessments, providing immediate and ongoing support and advocacy including home visits
• Provide information to the victim about their rights as outlined in the Victim's Code of Practice
• Explain processes and act as single point of contact throughout the victims journey in the criminal justice system
• Develop relationships with other organisations who support victims of crime

You will be:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations initially, the role holder will have technical leadership and overall responsibility for managing the Data and Innovation team. This team helps Breaking Barriers maximise the value of its data, by conducting analysis and managing the CRM (Salesforce) and related software.

The team works across all areas of the organisation to improve processes, unlock efficiencies through automation and generate insights from data. They ensure that data is utilised to inform any innovations or refinements to our services.

The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial manager with a high level of data literacy. We are looking for someone strategic, highly organised and a strong people and team manager. They will be confident at communicating data in a variety of ways to a large range of audiences, identifying key take-aways and the broader implications of the findings on our clients and programming. They will also be able to train others in key data analysis and communication skills.

About the role:

We are pleased to offer you an exciting opportunity to join our advice team at Citizens Advice Richmond as a Manage Your Money Lead.

In this role you will be working alongside volunteer advisers, providing holistic advice and support to households in financial crisis and provide advice around income maximisation, managing fuel costs including leading on our Energy Advice Project, benefit take-up, applying for grants to help with costs arising from the cost-of-living crisis, reducing indebtedness and budgeting and money management to help to prevent future financial crisis.

The purpose of this role is to reduce the stigma for low-income households around needing and accessing financial support and give people confidence to seek cheaper alternatives to contract costs around, for example, telephone, tv and broadband.

The project includes support on preparing personal income and expenditure details which can be used by residents themselves when negotiating with debtors on repayment plans.

This work will have a focus on community-based outreach work, working alongside organisations such as foodbanks and community centres. It will aim to prevent future or recurring hardship.

This role is funded by City Bridge Foundation.

This is a key role that will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager, Head of Public Engagement and Senior Digital Marketing Manager.

You will also be closely involved in team planning, whether it’s inputting into our operational plan or sharing ideas for new campaigns. 

There are opportunities to get hands-on developing and delivering communications and fundraising campaigns to educate and inspire individuals, businesses, and other audiences. The aim of these campaigns is to help remove barriers to employment for refugees and bring about systemic change via our partnerships. Please note, we do not currently run political campaigns.

You will be responsible for creating and delivering day-to-day communications across our owned channels (social media, email newsletters, and some website content). You will also help colleagues create content for earned and paid communications that they’re leading on (press and media, digital marketing, engagement with influencers)

A team player, you will build strong relationships across Breaking Barriers so that you can source and develop content that:

• increases our visibility and influence
• showcases our impact
• inspires members of the public to help refugees build new lives in the UK
• engages and stewards our key audiences, including corporate partners, employees who advocate for refugees, individual donors, volunteers, and people of a refugee background.

You will support the Senior Communications Manager to maintain our strong brand, ensuring that all our content complies with our brand guidelines and is of a high standard.

With a good eye for detail, you will play a key role in our data management, including overseeing data on the storytelling section of our CRM, monitoring communications enquiries, and setting up and running reports. You will become a Salesforce Superuser (full training and support will be provided for this).

Purpose

Kids in Need of Defense UK is a collaboration between four award-winning, UK based not for profits that specialise in children’s immigration and asylum law. We partner with lawyers and law firms across the UK to provide the highest quality legal advice and representation for free to undocumented children and young people. Central England Law Centre (CELC) is the UK's Largest Law Centre and the lead partner in the KIND UK collaboration. The successful candidate will be working with Central England Law Centre (CELC) on the KIND UK project.

This is a key role for which we’re seeking a suitably qualified and experienced immigration adviser. They will be responsible for providing an excellent frontline service to KIND UK clients, leading on all matters relating to the assessment and triage of new referrals to the service. 

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities:

• Assess referrals which have been flagged for legal advice by KIND UK administrators, for merit and suitability for the KIND UK project
• Assess and agree the appropriate level of service, making the initial triaging decision on referrals
• Provide internal legal advice on referrals with legal complexities
• Provide one-off advice to prospective clients via telephone and/or email, where appropriate
• Make onward referrals to other suitable immigration advisers and other services, where appropriate

Personal Specification:

Essential:

• OISC L3 or admitted as a solicitor or barrister in the UK or equivalent right to give immigration advice
• Significant post-qualification experience in child, young person and adult immigration and nationality law
• Broad and confident knowledge of UK immigration and nationality law and policy
• Experienced and confident in making independent and swift decisions on legal issues in immigration and nationality law

Desirable:

• Experience of working in a triage function
• Experience of working with vulnerable clients
• Experience of working with social workers and other children's services professionals

As a Services Welfare Officer you will manage our WRVS facility on a military site. This will involve:

- Providing an independent, confidential and sensitive welfare support
- Supporting service personnel on a one-to-one basis

About You

We are looking for applicants with broad experience in working with young adults and more experienced service personnel in a welfare setting.

You may have previously worked in youth and community work, social work, counselling, education or healthcare settings.

Ideally you will have:

- To be prepared to live in one person accommodation (provided)
- The flexibility to live anywhere within the UK or overseas for prolonged periods of time, i.e. two years
- Basic IT skills
- A full, valid driving licence

Senior Research Manager (Policing and Youth Justice) 

Reports to: Guidance Lead

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

The Research team is at the heart of our efforts to learn what works and put it into practice. We do this by commissioning research (including qualitative research, systematic reviews of intervention evidence and data analysis), and using this research to write and publish guidance across YEF’s sectors of interest.

We would be especially interested to hear from you if:   

• You know a lot about policing and/or youth justice: You know the key ideas and debates, recent policy developments and key people. You’re comfortable talking about policing and/or youth justice with experts. There are many ways to acquire this knowledge. You might have worked in the police or youth justice, in associated organisations, or learnt about either during a degree. 

The Senior Research Manager will: 

• Lead the development of evidence-based recommendations in policing. 

• Lead the development of the YEF’s strategy and research agenda on policing and youth justice. 

• Become the YEF’s expert on policing and youth justice. 

• Develop great relationships with experts and represent YEF in external meetings and events. 

• Work with our Change Team to produce resources and accessible summaries for policing and youth justice colleagues on the evidence.

• Produce accessible summaries of YEF evaluation reports that can be used by policy makers, practitioners and service commissioners.

Overall purpose

The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. As well as managing relationships with our existing donors there will be a focus on creating new relationships through proactive prospecting and developing a long-term strategic approach to stewardship and relationship development.

You will be an ambitious, enthusiastic, energetic, and autonomous fundraiser with a demonstrable passion for supporting people from a refugee background. You will have a strong track record of high-value relationship management and fundraising, ideally specialising in Trusts, Statutory, Major Donor fundraising or a related area. We are looking for someone who can successfully secure and steward gifts of 5 figures and above – so evidence of stewarding high-value relationships and high-quality written skills are key. You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.

We welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills from other sectors and other areas of fundraising but a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of grant fundraising is essential. We are looking for a passionate individual who can get people excited about the work we do and who wants to make a difference in the lives of individuals from a refugee background. You will share our energy and determination, and will be attracted by the idea of working in a team with big ambitions, and in which you will have the opportunity to grow and develop. The Senior Estates Manager has managerial, professional and technical responsibility for the operational estate team, bringing best practice and professional standards whilst ensuring compliance and regulatory standards are monitored and managed consistently and effectively across the estates function.  

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Essential criteria:

• Experience of reporting financial information, including explaining finance concepts to non-financial people;
• Previous or current experience working in the property or housing sector.
• Excellent leader with a track record of getting the best out of people;
• Recent practical experience of budgeting, management accounting and business planning;
• Good systems experience, both of finance systems and operational systems, and be quick to pick up new ones;
• Qualified member of a recognised accounting body
• A thorough understanding of appropriate legislation, taxation, risk, financial reporting standards and best practice;
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, be able to translate financial information into meaningful management information to aid decision making and help influence at all levels, to change thinking and behaviours;
