Volunteer Coordinator

Salary: £29,062 per annum

Birmingham Settlement is looking to recruit an energetic and adaptable individual to help us develop and build our volunteer offer across the organisation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about people and volunteering. Working across our bases in Kingstanding, Ladywood and Newtown as well as our Floating Community Hub, the ‘Ellen Gee’, and our 3 charity shops (Sutton, Boldmere, and Wylde Green), you will deliver several core objectives of our new National Lottery Reaching Communities “Connected Communities” programme, by developing and coordinating meaningful volunteer roles that make a difference.

In this key role, you will be recruiting volunteers, supporting their induction and helping us to celebrate the wonderful contribution that volunteers make to our charity. You will ensure that volunteers are well equipped to carry out their roles competently and confidently as well as support existing volunteers and ensure processes and procedures are firmly embedded.

You will work with our teams to develop new volunteer-led activities that achieve positive outcomes aligned with our organisational aims and objectives, and monitor, measure and communicate the impact volunteers make to the ‘Settlement – and beyond.

We are looking for a proactive candidate with proven experience and a strong background in volunteer and people management. You will need excellent organisational skills, experience of community engagement, be skilled in building relationships, have close attention to detail, and a passion for working with people.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management including licence management, user permissions, and training
• Ensure supporter data, processes, and systems are efficient, high quality, and compliant with relevant regulations
• Collaborate with the CRM Business Analyst to gather requirements for a new CRM and support the implementation of a Super User structure

We’re looking to recruit an economist to join our Policy Solutions Team, to lead our new flagship project: “Future Fit for a Just Transition”.  Driving forward a just transition to a net zero, nature positive economy and financial system is a key priority in our strategy, and this programme will play a central role in the delivery of our objectives in this area.  It will focus on international implementation of the transition, identifying best practices and challenges faced in different countries to facilitate shared learning, promote healthy competition, identify collaborative solutions, and hence speed up implementation. 

You will be responsible for leading the methodological development and delivery of the technical work underpinning the programme, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This will include scoping out and developing economic metrics of national level progress on the just transition to a net zero, nature positive economy, developing compelling and impactful knowledge products and undertaking international engagement on the findings.

You will lead research, compile data, produce reports, documents and briefings as well as commission and manage consultants as needed. You will both develop the content  and deliver the Flagship report, and use it to make the case for action and implementation to key stakeholders on proposed policy changes. You will also build links and strategic relationships with other organisations and other parts of the WWF global Network to promote and disseminate the work. Important will be the ability to create and provide diverse, relevant and impactful ideas for policy, and to involve communities affected by climate and nature loss in the process of policy development.

We’re looking for someone with:

· An understanding of how policy is influenced, both inside and outside Government.

· Experience of influencing key stakeholders including in government and the business community, changing opinions, practices and creating new models to deliver policy change and business transition.

· A degree level qualification in economics or relevant work experience in economic policy and analysis.

· Experienced researcher and commissioner of research, with experience of using economic analysis and quantitative methodologies, demonstrated by using evidence to analyse problems and come up with solutions.

· Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.

The Hearing Voices Projects have a global reputation for offering compassionate, person-centred support that avoids pathologising experiences, especially those that are often highly stigmatised.

Among other tasks, you will be required to:

• Work with partner organisations to establish hearing voices peer support groups in addition to organising and facilitating existing groups.
• Offer support to a range of people who hear voices and/or have other sensory experiences or difficult beliefs (at the moment, primarily young people and their families) in a variety of ways (email, Zoom, phone, face-to-face).
• Deal with enquiries and offer information to interested stakeholders.
• Facilitate focus groups and support young people’s involvement in a range of areas.
• Support relevant data monitoring and evaluation on the projects.

Philanthropy and Engagement Associate

Role Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity for an early career development professional to devise and manage an ambitious fundraising and engagement strategy for regular and annual donors thus helping to create a sustainable culture of philanthropy at Eton. 

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be responsible for the execution and management of a comprehensive regular and annual giving programme, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of donor relations, development services and stewardship. 

As a crucial and integral part of the College’s development team, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be an innovative and skilled development professional with demonstrable experience of best practice in regular and annual giving techniques.

Main Duties

• Work with the Director of Development and Executive Director of Communications, Engagement and Development to create and implement a highly ambitious and sustainable regular and annual giving strategy in support of the College’s short, medium, and long-term vision.  
• Be responsible for the day-to-day management of regular and annual giving activities.
• Prepare and manage detailed plans for the execution of appeals including digital, direct mail and/or personal solicitations.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure rigorous gift management administrations systems and accurate maintenance of prospect data.
• Manage follow-up action when pledges and gifts are received including ensuring that supporters are appropriately recognised and stewarded.
• Conduct data analysis to understand donor behaviour and prevailing themes and trends and develop data driven annual giving strategies.
• Support fundraising strategy through the implementation of strong support systems, and day-to-day administrative practices. 
• Ensure all fundraising activities undertaken in support of the College are performed to the highest standards and in accordance with best practice as established by professional bodies such as CASE, IDPE and the Institute for Fundraising. 
• Ensure that all activities comply fully with the relevant Data Protection and any other legislation in the UK and overseas.
• Work with external stakeholders, volunteers, and other supporters to maximise their relationships and networks. 
• Produce timely, relevant, and accurate reports on progress and projections on all development activities. 
• Maintain knowledge of best practice in fundraising and related matters, refreshing skills as necessary

Myeloma UK is looking for a motivated and highly proactive Senior Policy Officer to join our Patient Advocacy team within the wider Research and Advocacy directorate. 

You will have experience in analysing, developing, and communicating complex policy issues, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritise a fast-moving and wide-ranging workload.

You will also have experience working collaboratively and building relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. 

You will have the ability to present findings and recommendations to a range of audiences and produce high-quality succinct briefings in a timely fashion, underpinned by evidence.

Empathy and sensitivity are required to work closely with patients and their families and friends.

Experience in the health charity sector, public/patient engagement work, and working on the National Institute of Health Care Excellence (NICE) and Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) consultation processes would be beneficial but not essential.

As Senior Policy Officer you will be part of the Patient Advocacy team who work to ensure that the patient voice is heard and acted upon by UK and devolved nations healthcare policy decision makers. You will represent the charity externally including national meetings with senior healthcare decision makers.

Your role is vital to developing strategic approaches to health technology appraisals (HTA), regulatory pathways (MHRA), clinical development programmes (academic and industry clinical trials) and commissioning routes to broaden access to new myeloma drug therapies and diagnostic technologies.

You will apply your skills flexibly across key policy areas including access to treatment, patient voice, stakeholder engagement and general healthcare policy and work with colleagues in communications and fundraising to make sure our supporters and the wider myeloma community understand the positive impact we make.
