Location: Remote with occasional travel across UK
Applications close at 9 a.m. Monday 4th November
Who we are.
Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference. We don’t just provide a bed for the night; we offer a home, meaningful work, and a sense of belonging.
Founded in 1991, Emmaus now has 30 communities across the UK, with three more in development. We currently support over 850 people who have experienced homelessness, offering them a home for as long as they need it, along with work and training in our social enterprises. About the role.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Major Donor, Corporate, and Trusts & Foundations fundraising function. You’ll manage a team of three, with two direct line reports: the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Trust & Foundation Manager.
This role will focus primarily on supporting new business development in these areas and establishing a major donor programme.

This role’s focus will generally be on winning new business and nurturing your team so they can carry these relationships forward as they develop their skills under your leadership. You’ll help your team create compelling proposals for innovative projects while looking at the big picture and utilising resources to meet organisational goals.
This is a role where you can have a huge impact.
Who we are looking for.
We are seeking a well-rounded and seasoned high value giving fundraiser. You will primarily be a major donor expert with experience in at least one, but ideally both, of corporate and trusts & foundations giving.
You’ll be an excellent relationship manager and have a deep understanding of donor motivation, which will enable you to adapt your approach and win new business in your key income areas.
Suitable candidates will also be excellent managers who can inspire and coach line reports to be better fundraisers. Lastly, you will be deeply motivated by the cause of homelessness and Emmaus UK’s inspiring work.

OVERVIEW AND JOB PURPOSE
Pump Aid is a dynamic, award winning and growing organisation, which is promoting a radically different approach to aid and development in the WASH sector by establishing Malawi’s first social impact business (Beyond Water) focused on delivering reliable access to clean water for rural communities. We challenge conventional development programmes by taking a business-based approach that ensures long term sustainability and impact for the communities we work with. Clean water results in better health, increases educational attainment and reduces inequality for women and girls across Malawi.
To support our mission we are recruiting a Communications and Fundraising Officer to help deliver on our ambitious growth plans to reach 2 million people by 2030. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can plan and create compelling communications to increase awareness of our work and engage new and existing supporters. Furthermore, you will lead on key areas of our fundraising strategy including annual fundraising campaigns, individual giving and small trusts and foundations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- You will lead on defined elements of Pump Aid’s fundraising strategy: scoping, applications, reporting and management (to largely small to medium sized trusts and foundations, community funders and individuals.)
- You will develop and manage a schedule of compelling communications across a number of channels including social media, web and print that will grow engagement with Beyond Water’s mission.
- You will support the Head of Development to pitch to social impact and philanthropic investors by finding creative ways to differentiate ourselves from traditional approaches to international development.
- You will take responsibility for managing and administrating fundraising income, using Salesforce CRM to keep up to date records of donations, keeping donors updated through regular reports and leveraging annual campaigns including the Big Give Christmas Campaign to maximise individual giving donations.
- Maximise the value and duration of donor support through excellent stewardship and relationship management.
- While office hours are notionally 9:00am to 5:30pm, the demands of a business focussed on Africa, with donors in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia mean a degree of flexibility is required.
Candidate Profile
1. Strong experience in planning and executing communications plans across a variety of mediums (social media, website, blog posts, impact reports) to grow awareness and engagement with the work of our social enterprise
2. Demonstrable success in fundraising within the charity sector; scoping, prospecting, proposal writing and reporting.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to present to a variety of audiences
4. Experienced in home working and able to self-motivate and develop and execute personal work and action plans with limited face to face supervision
5. Demonstrable ability to prioritise and manage conflicting outcomes and objectives and ensure the right job is completed at the right time
6. Works well in a small, dynamic team
7. High level of computer literacy – Canva, Microsoft Office, Salesforce or similar CRM software
8. Well organised and can prioritise work to meet deadlines
9. Experience working in international development is preferable.
10. Right to work in the UK

We're the UK's specialist blood cancer charity and our vision is clear: we’re here to beat blood cancer. We fund world-class research; provide information and support to patients and their loved ones; and raise awareness of blood cancer.
Since 1960 we have invested more than £500 million in blood cancer research in the UK. Where we’ve invested, survival rates and quality of life have improved. We’ve been working to beat blood cancer for over 50 years, and we won’t stop until we do. Be a part of our story and help us change the world.
The Senior Health Inequalities and Involvement Manager role is central to us achieving this aim through leading the way we approach and deliver involvement across the organisation, with people affected by blood cancer driving forward our focus on reducing health inequalities. You will be leading our involvement programme, developing our strategy and processes to ensure we can work as effectively as possible, while diversifying our networks by building and strengthening relationships with community leaders and community-based organisations. You’ll be confident supporting the delivery of a range of different projects across the organisation, continuously advocating for an approach where voices of people affected are truly valued and can authentically shape the impact we make together. You’ll be a critical member of our EDI steering group, driving forward our strategy and approach.
This is the role for you if you are an ambitious and motivating leader, a strategic thinker who can help deepen our knowledge on health inequalities existing across our community and deliver an ambitious yet practical approach to reducing these alongside the community we are here to serve.
The majority of our roles can be performed hybrid which means you will be required to attend the office 2-4 days per month, there may also be additional need to attend in-person events i.e. project kick-off meetings or focus groups. Travel costs to your contracted office will be at your own expense.
Our culture and benefits package are award winning, and our staff survey tells us that we’re a great place to work.
We are committed to actively promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity. In line with our strategy we welcome approaches from individuals from underrepresented groups, including minority communities, and applicants with a disability, to better reflect the community we serve and help broaden our perspectives.
We research, we support, we care. Because it’s time to beat leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and all types of blood cancer.
