Responsibilities and Person Specification:
The Media Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing Independent Age’s media communications programme, including media and PR, social media, celebrities and stories. The Media Communications Manager will lead the team to secure profile-raising coverage for our work in a range of print, online and broadcast media outlets including national news, consumer, sector-specific, and regional titles. They will oversee our organic social media and ensure our channels amplify our work and reach older people, decision makers and other influential stakeholders.
The Media Communications Manager will build excellent relationships with older people with lived experience of poverty, ensuring the voices of older people in financial hardship are at the centre of everything we do. They will also grow the organisations relationships with journalists, channel owners, celebrities, ambassadors, and other influencers to ensure that our media communications activity supports our organisational objective to tackle poverty in later life.
You should have broad experience of developing and implementing innovative, successful profile-raising plans (across digital and traditional channels). You will bring an ability to work both proactively and reactively, and experience of handling reputational or crisis issues. You must have a passion for, and affinity with, the charity’s cause.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager will take the lead in developing and implementing our fundraising and marketing strategies, splitting your time about 60/40 between the two functions. The Global Development Institute (GDI) at the University of Manchester is seeking an exceptional candidate for the new position of Research for Transformation Lab Manager.
The Research for Transformation Lab is a new initiative to forge direct links between the research and teaching of GDI and real-world solutions for global development challenges. Its overall aim is to address our social and climate justice goals by generating evidence-based recommendations for operational development actors that bring substantive changes to the way they work.
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing GDI's engagement with development policy and practice, maximizing the real-world impact of its research, teaching, and doctoral training. You will be committed to using research to promote social justice, bringing your extensive experiences and development networks to the role.
You will have worked at the interface of development research, policy and practice and will be able to identify opportunities for GDI academics and their work. The role will also boost the impact of our students, for example by linking them with The University of Manchester’s Living Lab.
As this is a new role and initiative, we are looking for a self-starter who can help to finalise the strategy and approach of the Research for Transformation Lab, as well as getting activities off the ground. Community Development Officer
The Communities Officer will lead a new community-focused initiative aimed at increasing access to Cambridge Science Centre’s educational offerings. Through researching areas of need and collaborating with community leaders, the officer will develop a robust network of partnerships to facilitate participation from children facing barriers to engagement.
Key Responsibilities
• Community Research & Needs Assessment: Identify key areas within Cambridge where children face barriers to accessing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) engagement. The Vacancy
The Programme Development Manager is committed to supporting colleagues and partners in programme design and development. The team also connects programmatic issues and global policy and advocacy to ensure they are complementary and conducive to external change based on evidence from the ground.
Saferworld’s income is secured primarily from statutory and institutional donors; however, securing funding to support our partners in conflict-affected countries and allow for more flexible programming increasingly requires a more diverse funding base. The Programme Development Manager will support efforts to identify and secure funds from statutory donors, trusts and foundations, and other non-traditional funding mechanisms.
The Programme Development Manager will support a portfolio of Saferworld’s teams in designing and mobilising funding for peace, security and justice programmes. The successful applicant will have a focus of approximately 4 countries, which will be decided based on the candidate’s experience and preference. Working closely with Country Managers/Directors, and programme and grant management colleagues, the post-holder will lead on: coordinating and facilitating programme development processes (including taking the lead in drafting high quality concept notes and proposals, theories of change, logical models, risk matrixes and budgets); developing and supporting the implementation of long-term country funding strategies and donor engagement strategies; and supporting new donor engagement and sustaining relationships with current donors. The post-holder will be responsible for growing institutional funding portfolios in our programmes.
The post-holder will have a successful track record in developing programmes and leading new business development efforts with institutional donors such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United States Government (USG)/United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union (EU), UN agencies and European Governments such as Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Additional experience in mobilising resource from trusts and foundations and other non-traditional funding mechanisms is desirable.
They will have proven skills and experience in programme management and support, successful programme design processes and bid leadership.

Contract
This is a permanent full time role, 37.5 hours per week.
Start date

Working hours
37.5 Hours per week. Normally these will during normal working hours, but flexible working can be negotiated. On occasion, evening and weekend working may be required.
Location
This role will be based at the EKRCC premises in Canterbury, but there will be frequent travel to centres across East Kent and occasional travel to London and other parts for meetings or conferences.

The Role
You will work on a major mixed-methods research project exploring the spiritual, existential and political impact of new motherhood. This role involves assisting the Lead Researcher with tasks such as literature reviews, questionnaire design and data analysis, as well as conducting interviews and fieldwork.
