LOCATION: The main office is in Islington. Client and partnership work is currently carried out in Islington, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hounslow, Brent, Ealing. The Director’s role is predominantly based in Islington, but some work in other locations may be required. Client work to be carried out in person on office days. In general, work is carried out in person with an option for remote working 1 day per week.
THE ROLE: The Director is responsible for the overall running of Maa Shanti. This includes supporting and managing staff, developing strategy, operational management, contract management, service development, training, consultancy, partnership working, safeguarding and child protection, HR, recruitment, finance, fundraising, marketing and social media. Some of these activities (e.g. fundraising and social media) are delegated to staff members with guidance and direction from the Director. The Director is supported by a committed board of trustees, and communicates and reports to the board regularly.
THE COMPANY: Maa Shanti supports South Asian mothers who are impacted by domestic abuse. Our aim is to reduce isolation, and increase confidence, knowledge and skills for our services users. We do this by improving access to activities, education and employment and through the provision of advocacy and support (both in person and remotely). We run a busy programme of events, workshops and events which includes e.g. yoga, mindfulness, cooking, vocabulary groups, arts and crafts, excursions and children’s activities during school holidays. The charity was founded in Islington as a grassroots
organisation in 2004 and has grown in strength and size in the last 20 years. We currently have 6 members of staff working for the charity.
WHO CAN APPLY: The successful candidate will be creative, committed, organised and have an understanding of the issues facing our service users. They will have experience in leading an NGO/charity, managing staff and volunteers, fundraising, stakeholder and funder management, service development, charity administration, infrastructure and compliance, working with a board of trustees and working with vulnerable women and children. About the role
Following the launch of Imperial’s bold and ambitious strategy, Science for Humanity, in March 2024, Imperial is now preparing to launch a comprehensive fundraising and engagement campaign to support the delivery of its strategy. We are looking for a highly motivated fundraiser who believes in the vision of CCX and who can work with the Philanthropy Lead to develop a committed donor base to support the work. Job Purpose
This is a varied role supporting the team by providing administrative support.
The role sits within the grants team and a significant part of the role involves working closely with the charity’s finance team processing payment claims from grants and special purpose funds (SPFs). This will involve daily use of the charity’s financ system ‘Access’ for data entry, coding of invoices and first line approvals for expenditure. No previous knowledge of Access is needed, (you will be trained on the system). You will be the first point of contact for the RFL and University College London (UCL) colleagues that are making the submissions for the claims.
You will provide grants management admin support which will include liaising with applicants on the status of their applications and admin support at the panel review meeting. Your role will include day-to-day administrative tasks relating to grant management and processing.

As a Policy Officer (Access to Care), you will take the lead on public policy areas that tackle barriers to care and address health inequalities that impact people living with dementia, their carers, and loved ones. Your focus will be on ensuring that individuals from all communities and backgrounds can access care without exception.

We are looking for an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner to plan, deliver and support LGBTQ+ children and young people. This role involves working with children and young people identified as requiring emotional wellbeing support through face to face, virtual and group sessions. The Communities Officer will lead a new community-focused initiative aimed at increasing access to Cambridge Science Centre’s educational offerings. Through researching areas of need and collaborating with community leaders, the officer will develop a robust network of partnerships to facilitate participation from children facing barriers to engagement.
Key Responsibilities
• Community Research & Needs Assessment: Identify key areas within Cambridge where children face barriers to accessing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) engagement. Use data-driven approaches and community feedback to conduct needs assessments, supporting the development of evidence-based strategies and action plans with relevant partners and community organisations.

The Global Development Institute (GDI) at the University of Manchester is seeking an exceptional candidate for the new position of Research for Transformation Lab Manager.
The Research for Transformation Lab is a new initiative to forge direct links between the research and teaching of GDI and real-world solutions for global development challenges. Its overall aim is to address our social and climate justice goals by generating evidence-based recommendations for operational development actors that bring substantive changes to the way they work.
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing GDI's engagement with development policy and practice, maximizing the real-world impact of its research, teaching, and doctoral training. You will be committed to using research to promote social justice, bringing your extensive experiences and development networks to the role.
You will have worked at the interface of development research, policy and practice and will be able to identify opportunities for GDI academics and their work. The role will also boost the impact of our students, for example by linking them with The University of Manchester’s Living Lab.
As this is a new role and initiative, we are looking for a self-starter who can help to finalise the strategy and approach of the Research for Transformation Lab, as well as getting activities off the ground.
